  1. Holly, the most scent I put in the C-3 is 9% and that really pushing it but I can only do 7% with anything with a cinnamon base to it. I make several different kinds of Cinnamon candles or candles with cinnamon in them and they all have to be at 7%. They are very strong in the C-3 but with C-2 Everything could go 10% no problem! and the candles cured in about two days! I had a much faster turn around with the C-2. Time is money and though I paid more for the C-2, It was worth every penny!

  2. My supplier told me that Cargils is coming out with yet another container wax that is supposed to be a combination of C2 and C3. But frankly, If they would just bring back the C2, I'd be in heaven.

Unforunately, far too many chandlers whined about the frosting and the color problems of the C2! I could kick each and every one of them! Yes a candle should look nice but what people gained for looks sake, they surrendered shorter cure time and scent throw. If we can make the frosting fade with a heat gun, what the hecks the problem?

    NOTHING beats C2!:cry2:

  3. I'm very sure that Peaks does it's very best to keep the scents well stocked but let's not forget that for most of us, we are heading into the busiest season namely the fall and the holidays so chandlers all over the country are stocking up now! There is a HUGE push on candles during the fall and holidays and I'm sure that Peaks will be increasing their volumes accordingly. They know what sells and when. This also means that we are getting the freshest scented oils possible! I really don't want oils that have been sitting in a warehouse for eight or ten months. I will soon be placing my fall and holiday orders with Peaks and no matter what, They are always worth the wait!:cool2:

    PEAKS!~ YOU ROCK!~

  4. No, I don't need to say anything about my competitors because they say it all when they bash me!

What infuriates them is that I've never bought any of their candles. Even when they are trying to GIVE them to me, I turn them down so that I can hostely tell a customer.

" I don't know a thing about those candles, good or bad. I can only speak for my own."

However, if a customer is looking for something other than soy container candles, I point them to the person who is selling what they're looking for. But that just makes good common sense to me.:laugh2:

  5. Yes Ashlie I was able to salvage all the candles but only because I acted so quickly! Thank you so much for asking. I hit the tops with a heatgun and then allowed them to settle down and resolidify their bottoms in the basement! There actually were only a few with melting bottoms. The rest were melting tops and that just fixed with a heat gun.

The women who organized the crafter didn't have a clue about my candles and she couldn't have cared less about them until a few off the food vendor informed her just who I was. They were pretty upset on my behalf because I didn't have time to be upset. I was moving too quickly. And many of them were out a later candle buy which is what they were really upset about. Seem many of them bought them last year and loved them! Most of the vendors are out of the area so they only will see me once or twice a year.

But I got a huge compliment on the fact that I know how to drive a pickup in reverse through a craft fair without hitting a single person or booth! I could drive up but I had to back out three times!:D

  6. I went back this afternoon to thank the crafter next to me for helping me tear down my tent and took him a candle. He was such a wonderful guy! There were two other crafters who left after me. They were angry that they placed all the crafter on a side street and then blocked the enterance with a huge basketball challange.:angry2: Corky(my friend) finally called the head of the Festival and let him have it!

Not many people knew where the crafters were. I asked if they were going to announce it regularly on the PA system and they said yes but from the crafters I spoke with, they never did!:angry2: Two others had decided to pack it in when I was getting ready to leave so I stayed and helped them pack and tear down!:(

  7. Well the festival I was doing this weekend was a complete bust and I pulled out due to my candles starting to melt!:angry2:

They set up the crafters in the road between two huge brick building! the pavement was hot enough to melt the tires on one of the food vendors wagons!

Of course I setup my tent and tables the night before because I wanted to try and get the coolest pavement possible.

The next morning I show up and the committee tells us we have to move down because a fire lane is needed! My candles had to sit in the back of my truck for an hour while all of the tents were moved down two spaces.

I no sooner get everything set up then a woman comes into my booth, looks at my candles and says, "Hon, these are melting!" Sure enough the candles are liquifying from the bottom and the top!" I had to decide to pack everything right back up and leave!:angry2: I hadn't even been setup for ten minutes!

Tried to find someone on the committee to let them know and couldn't find anyone.

I had to treck the candles home, then comeback for everything else! It was ab out six hours wasted but at least it was local.

What I couldn't believe was how quickly the news spread on the midway that I was leaveing or that so many people would be so upset because they wanted to buy MY candles! I probably lost $2000 in sales but it just couldn't be helped.

And because I pulled out, there's a chance they won't invite me back!:undecided

  8. First of all, C-2 is no longer made. They discontinued it when the came out with the C3.

C2 had a much higher scent load, cured in half the time and because you could add more scent the throws were stronger! Both hot and cold. There was far more frosting with the C-2 and it didn't take color as well as the C-3 but those are minor when you compair the scent throws and the cure times.

C-2 was the very best wax I ever used and I was lucky to find and buy 200 pounds of it over the last year.

I am truely going to miss it!:(

  9. I've add as much as 7% to C-3 and have done well with it but I using a pint mason jars too. I also use zince wicks. Eucalyptus was one E/O that did well in my soy while I switched to a F/O for the Clove. The Clove always had burning problems.

Have you tried add some reg. F/O to the E/O to kick up the scent? Try it and see if the mushrrom continues to be a problem.

  10. Although I use C-3, I generally have added some C-2 to it to help explediant the cure and improve the scent throw. Now I am working on my last box of C-2 to add to my C-3 and it's time to go on the hunt of the replacement for the C2. I've enjoyed this blend for nearly a year!

I'm looking for 100% soy that is a HOT POUR. 160-170. So far, I've looked at serveral sites and theirs soys are medium to cold pour. C-# is a hot pour wax so I need another hot popur so that they don't pclash when I pour.

And No, I have no desire to do a blend. I am strictly sold on soy I use to use the 6006 soy several years ago but I hear IGI reformulated it and it's a slab wax.

Anyone use it? Is it a hot pour?

    TIA

  11. Trying to finish pouring and labeling for festival this whole weekend. Got a sampler from Peaks and have a few keepers in that that I will want to test after the Festival.

Basically I'm making the change over to fall with the candles. Bought new table dressings

Hoping this fest is a hit so I can reorder what I want and start pour for the fall Fest.

All of the above and a 40 hour a week job keep me out of trouble.

  12. I've been selling for about four years now and every year it increases by about 15% or so. I do craft shows and am in two tobacco stores and a coffee house. I have a possible account in FLA but I haven't commintted to it yet. Now if I could just get a melter.

  13. I personally don't care for the liquid dyes. I only use blocks. I get my wax pretty hot and make sure everything is good in the melt pot befor transffering to the pour pot. Still, if you stretch a leg of panty hose over your pour pot, you'd br straining those tiny pieces out. But That's too big a hassle for me So I just keep it in the melt pot longer.

  14. I wonder if they're seeing more claims now that they've started the flat rate priority boxes. I'm betting they're seeing more small boxes that are weighing a lot more than usual, and they haven't adjusted their procedures to take into account the flat rates that might be heavier than they expect.

I have no idea about USPS Flate rate.... UPS has alwayd done okay for me except that their fees have really increased over the last year.
