  2. Does walmart carry a liquid glycerin soap?
  3. http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71025
  4. I can't believe this. Remember the other day I wsa looking for fish oil and then I posted about our pharmacy wanting me to recreate this balm. http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70845 Well I took it to the pharmacy on Monday. The pharmacist tried it on his hands as they were really chafed, red and raw. He's been using it since Monday and its healing his hands and quickly at that. He wants more. The pharmacists likes my balm a 100% better. He said he was very unhappy with the price of the other balm and extremely unhappy at the fact that the water in it seperated and stayed on the top. If I package this it costs me $1.53 for 2 oz., this other company was selling 2 oz. for 25$. If he packages it cost me $1.06. And even when I mark it up 300% it costs only as much as 2 oz. for 1 #. Give or take a few. Now if I understand what I have read correctly in PA as long as the pharmacist packages and labels the balm I am not liable for anything. I make it sell it to him and he does the rest. So he bought all I had left Which was approximately 10 oz. for $22.00. The reason they got the original cream was for cancer patients. He is going to talk to the Dr. who reccomended the first cream and have him write scripts for the cream I made instead. Gosh I feel kind of honored! I just had to share with you all.
  5. Ironically thats what the pharmacist was telling me. Cancer patients are being told to buy this. What ticks me off is the cost the company is charging. $25.00 for 2 ounces. It cost me $1.53 to make 2 ounces.
  6. How I came up with this recipe is because I was asked to reproduce a similiar balm for our pharmacy. I am very happy with the results. With one use it made my scaly itchy legs feel and look smooth and my itch was gone. I thought at first it was a bit greasy feeling, but within minutes it soaked right into my skin. This makes 16 oz. 3.84 oz. Coconut Oil .48 oz. Lanolin .48 oz. Fish Oil 1.12 oz. Apricot Kernel Oil 5.6 oz. Aloe Vera Juice 3.2 oz. Brewed Black Tea .96 oz. Ewax .48 oz. Stearic Acid Add last: 3 ml Lavender 2 ml Clove 2 ml Tea Tree .32 Optiphen Plus
  7. I am posting this recipe in the recipe section. This has to be one of the best skin balm I have ever used and made.
  8. Thanks so much for the links. I used 2% optiphen plus as my preservative. Kelly
  9. Thanks so much for the info and link. I wan't aware of the fact that fish was somewhat like flaxseed as far as refredgerating. I will go and do that now. I am intrigued by the fact that you make your own cat food. May I be nosey and ask how you do this?
  10. Sorry for the double post my dog stepped pn my keyboard!
  11. How about because I'm an idiot LOL!! it's .48 oz thanks for pointing that out, I fixed it!
  12. Our local pharmacy started selling a balm called combat-ready balm by Skincando (http://www.colecare.com/Products/skincare.shtml ). I guess there are a lot of cancer patients requesting it. It is $25.00 for 2 ounces. Wanna hear whats in it? Distilled Water, apricot Kernel Oil, Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Fish Oil, Clove & Tea Tree Oil, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Borax and Lanolin. Well after I inquired about why it was so much I was asked to reproduce it. So I did but I also tweaked it. I personally like my recipe better and its much creamier. It also is not seperating like it was in the sample container at the pharmacy. I think next time though I may use a little less lanolin. GSE was rather expensive and I wasn't sure what I was getting on ebay so I opted for a preservative without parabens. What do you think of what I have come up with? My 16 oz. Recipe 3.84 oz. Coconut Oil .48 oz. Lanolin .48 oz. Fish Oil 1.12 oz. Apricot Kernel Oil 5.6 oz. Aloe Vera Juice 3.2 oz. Brewed Black Tea .96 oz. Ewax .48 oz. Stearic Acid Add last: 3 ml Lavender 2 ml Clove 2 ml Tea Tree .32 Optiphen Plus The Combat Ready Balm brochure claims: This concentrated skin salve relieves and heals damaged and inflamed skin. Severe dryness, minor abrasions, post-shaving burn, diaper rash, stretchmarks, scars, bug bites and sunburn are no match for this powerfully soothing balm.
  13. I ended up going to big lots and getting some capsules. This is what I have done with the fish oil : http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?p=657634#post657634 Thanks!
  14. What can I use in place of Fish oil? I am having ahard time finding this in liquid form. I can find it in capsules but not the liquid itself. Thanks, Kelly
  15. I am working on formulating a cream and I want to add fish oil to it. At what percentage should I use the Fish oil? Kelly
  16. My Scrub Recipe 2 oz. Ewax 1.6 oz. Stearic Acid 3.2 oz Palm Kernal Oil 1.6 oz. Cocoa Butter 1.2 oz. Shea Butter 4.4 oz. Olive Oil 3.2 oz. Castor Oil 1 T. FO ½ T. Preservative ½ T. Polysorbate 20 ½ T. Dimethicone 2 c. Sugar 1 oz. Brown Sugar
  17. You know I hadn't thought of that. But you are probably right
  18. Does anyone know how to make this? http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=10238791
  19. Cut the soap earlier this evening and it really did cut very nicely. I think this soap may just turn out ok! I'll keep you posted. Kelly
  20. Oh gosh I'm not sure what I did. I've completely confused myself. I guess we'll see what happens. I know I used those ingredients in those amounts and added them at those times. I also know I used 8 oz. of water. It is a bit softer that I would like it to be the day after. We'll wait and see. How will I know if it gets DOS since I colored my soap orange? I used iced carrot cake as my fo from fragrance oil heaven and thought the color was fitting. Now out of curiosity if I made a small batch of soap that was white to put on the top would it just adhear to the bottom part? I know I won'y be doing that this time just because I am not sure what is going to happen with this batch. I think what happened is I was trying to fix my screw up and got everything all messed up and confused. Now adding all of that stuff at trace was bad? How should I have done it? Thanks Kelly
  21. Well I started out with my regular recipe tweaked it a bit then realized I forgot the olive oil and castor, so did a bit of experimenting and I think I may have made a pretty decent soap. I was having some dry skin and facial issues so I thought I would play. What do you think? Thanks, Kelly 3.85 oz. Avocado Oil 7.7 oz. Palm Kernel Oil 15.4 oz. Palm Oil Then @ trace I added: 3.2 oz. Jojoba Oil 1 oz. Neem Oil 1 oz. Emu 1 oz. Mango Butter 1 oz. Shea Butter 1 oz. Bentonite Clay 1 oz. Finely Ground Oatmeal 2 oz. FO 8 oz. Water 4.11 oz. Lye Oh no I just realized I didn't use enough LYE!!! It should have been 4.7. What does this mean for my soap?
  22. Thats what I thought but I wanted to be sure before I did it. Thanks
