North Carolina, I woulld say containers. Then probally votives/or tarts.
-
Looking for a good wax to do tarts/votives with. Its been a while since I did any. I am really liking the 6006 container wax, so wanted to see what yall thought of the 6028? Thanks, Jill:)

Give them a call, I would think they would take care of it for you.

Your flame looks pretty big too for that small container. Try one size down to see if it helps.
-
It depends on your wax as if you will need to do a secound pour. Some are one pours which is what I use. You can use chip clips to hold your wicks. They work perfect for me.
-
I put lids on after they are completely cool. Wet spots are pretty hard to avoid. Some waxs have more problems then others with wet spots. Usually good to cure 48 hours or longer. Also good to cover them with a box to let them cool slowly. You may want to try tins sometime, dont have to worry about wet spots.

Did you try adding a little black color to the red?

I would never heat my wax in a microwave. That would probally make a mess and could be dangerous....

I am bad about buying new supplies and then sitting on the computer at night too:embarasse Congrats on your kit:thumbsup:

The 4794 says 175 +/- 5. So should be fine at 180.

jillgunter,
Thanks for the tips on the 6006. What temp do you poor 6006 at? Also, do you mix dye and FO at the same temp you pour? I see some people say to add dye and FO at a certain temp and then pour at a different temp. Hope that made sence..lol
Again, thank you for the help!
Sharon
I add my dye and then my FO at 180. I stirr for a good 2 minutes. I pour at 160. I have only poured tins with this wax(8 oz tins). I always get completely smooth tops. If you add your FO at to low of a temp, it may not mix well with your wax.

You also need to cure them for a few days to get good throw. The 6006 needs a few days to throw well. I like to cool mine in my oven(cool of course). Try to pour really slow and then tap your container to make your you have no air bubbles.

I just got one too for christmas. Cant wait to try it out. Hopefully someone will know:)

They have them at Candlescience, with clear lids. THey also have the regular lids for a a couple dollars less.

Haha, just noticed others had posted the same thing as me:)

Some paraffin candles are made from animal fat. Vegan Alicia Silverstone hadn't burned a candle in six years until discovering Jenni Originals' soybean wax candles.
WHAT? I have never heard of animal fat being in parrafin.

Do you have it lit with a fan in the room. THat makes mine do that sometimes. We have very high ceilings(20 feet), and have to have the fan going or it gets really hot upstairs.

Those sound yummy:drool:

They are probally cooling to fast. You can cover them with a box or stick them in a cool oven to cool. Small jars tend to cool to fast sometimes, and I have had cracks in my little jars before.

Are you saying your wick is to small or to big?

I buy my FOs from Candlescience usually as they are local to me for pickup. I also bought some recently from Aromahaven, they are great too. The FOs from Michaels arent that great as you have found out, plus they are way overpriced. Get ya some 1 oz samples to try out and see what you like.

No, we all don't. Some of us research like fools before making a purchase.
For months even.
Well lots of us hehe:) It was my husbands idea to make candles, if it wasnt for him buying a kit I probally would have never thought of it. I bought good stuff as soon as I found this site tho!
-
Those are neat, but wouldnt work well with my kitties. They probally would eat the wax lol.

We all start out using stuff from craft stores, its the only way to find out if you like candlemaking tho. I had a ton of stuff I trashed a long time ago:smiley2:
