  1. I see a few places are carrying it now beside the candle source, any recommendations on who may have a better one?
  2. soshiegirl, sparky38351 needed it, not me. Sparky if you want pm me and I can send you a sample of what I have left, maybe you can get it duped somewhere if that scent wizard doesn't work out for you.
  3. No I don't think any of those smell like real salt water taffy. It doesn't smell like berries it is very distinct.I have the oil but the supplier doesn't carry it anymore, it is dead on SWT. I did find this http://www.thescentwizard.com/SALT_WATER_TAFFY_FRAGRANCE_OIL_p/fscents009.htm I've never tried this supplier but it's worth a shot. HTH
  4. Okay now I am really upset. I checked my email and did not receive a response. Now not only do I have the USPS parcel post tracking # that was never actually mailed or scanned into the system but I just got a UPS notification from The Scent Works as well. "A label for this shipment has been created, but UPS does not yet have possession of this shipment. Once we receive the shipment, the tracking status will be updated. Label Created On:02/09/2011 Additional Information Shipped/Billed On:02/09/2011Type:PackageWeight:2.50 lbs" So what good is this? I don't care how many labels are printed, hand it off the the carrier and provide me the products I paid for! At this rate I will have to contact my customer again, what the heck am I supposed to tell her? Nothing is worth this kind of BS. NOTHING. I am sick to my stomach, I can't contact my customer again after waiting this long and tell her she's never getting what she ordered. Even when I refund her it's not really making it right. If I waited weeks for something only to find out the vendor couldn't provide it I know I would go somewhere else. Does anyone have any London Lemon Curd they are willing to sell me? I need 3-4 ounces.
  5. Well I sent both email addresses sales/customerservice an email about the situation and it will be interesting what they have to say. I totally understand that choosing the wrong shipping option was my error which set this in motion but it's no excuse for any of this. It should not be this complicated. They should have contacted me, how long would they hold on to my money without sending it out until I reached out to them to correct the situation? What was the point of buying the extra pound @ 23.00 and paying extra shipping if they were going to ship it how they wanted anyway? This is really making me uneasy. I think this will be my last purchase.
  6. I don't buy anything from ME and that is one of the reasons. There are guidelines for doing business and you kind of have to pick one market. You can't supply and compete with your customers. At some point you have to choose. At the very least they could not not cross promote the way that they do. Wholesale is wholesale and retail is retail. As far as free shipping, I rarely offer it and I rarely offer sales. I think that is one of the biggest mistakes vendors do is doing sale upon sale. If you are running a sale each week where is the incentive to buy? Could you be offering a better deal next week? And if it's always on sale they are never going to pay retail. The above posters are right, focus on a different market. You will go no where but broke trying to compete with 20-30%off and free shipping or BOGO all the time. Some of these companies selling at or below cost to build a customer base will never be able to make a profit because the second they raise their prices to where they really should be the customer will go to the next new guy trying to do the same thing.
  7. Just an update on this order.... I just don't know what is going on here. This is way too much hassle for one oil. I am really hoping that this entire experience is a fluke because I can't see how anyone including myself can do business this way. I placed the order and made the mistake of selecting priority mail, a week goes by and I don't hear anything then when I check on it the lady said it had to ship UPS ground or parcel post. I don't like parcel post so I opted UPS. Fine, so to justify the UPS shipping I doubled the order and gave my credit card info over the phone. Got the receipt confirming everything plus they asked that I send an email re capping our conversation.... and was told it was going out Monday. The order gets delayed yet a second time because I got an email receipt showing a balance due, which was a mistake because I paid the balance via credit card ??? Had to call for the third time. Then close to two weeks later it ships parcel post anyway and it's not even showing it was scanned into the postal system? I already had to contact my customer and apologize for the inconvenience and tell her that her order will be delayed so she is not happy and it makes me look very unprofessional.
  8. I'm sorry I left you hanging, been pretty busy this weekend. Call 315-457-5277. They'll send you a price list. If you are close enough just swing by and he'll give you a bunch of sample jars to see what works for you. Phil,Tim and Jeanie are really great. I'm up there at least twice a month and I always end up hanging around to chit chat they are just good people. Here is the address. 121 Dwight Park Circle Syracuse, NY 13209-1005
  9. Classic case of passing the buck. They got stuck so now you are. Go to TVG glass, I live 10 mins. away they're great.
  10. If you call your order in they will mix and match colors in the same box for you. I always order $400.00 worth at a time so shipping is only 60. My last order came in 8 cases so it's a big savings. If you sign up for the mailing list sometimes they have buy 12 get one warmer free so that's an extra 7 + off per case. I can't keep the warmers in stock, people really love them. Much better quality than OBI. I love the tuscan brown ones but the replacement bulbs are pricey.
  11. I use a votive wick pin and just drop it in the cup. When the candle sets up I just take the pin out and push the wick through the hole.
  12. Your lips to God's ears. I haven't gone to RE since they screwed me on a batch bottle of Da Lime In Da Coconut. Still never got a call or an email back going on over a year now. Whatever right? The Coconut Lime from CS is just as good if not better and cheaper.
  13. Very cool, kudos on your review on Candlefind too, I just read that this morning. So what do you do just drip different colored dye on the inside of the jar and pour the soy at the coolest temp you can? Do you get the design swirling it around with a chop stick or artist brush? Very labor intensive but obviously it's paying off. Some things are just worth the extra effort especially with results like those. Great job.
  14. I got it all straightened out. I left a message but my dogs must have been making noise in the background so she couldn't make out what I said or who I was. It was my fault, I screwed up selecting the wrong shipping option and it delayed the order. They said they were going to send an email invoice but I ended up just grabbing 2 lbs to justify the UPS shipping and placed a new order over the phone. Something must have been up with their cart too because it was cheaper to ship 2 lbs rather than one. I'm going to call the orders in for now on. Glad it worked out, after JBN closing like that I think i'm getting paranoid. Thanks Lynn for checking that out it never hurts to have a plan B.
  15. I placed a small order on the 30th and paid by paypal and haven't heard anything. I may have made a mistake on the shipping carrier because the oil was restricted so I wanted to follow up incase I owed any additional shipping. Priority was 8, UPS was 12 something for a pound. I just chose the cheaper one and didn't realize it until after that it can't go air mail. No one is returning my calls or email? Are the out of business? Anyone else carry something close to London lemon curd?
  16. Yes and No. My personal experience was a bit of a nightmare. I bought a few different variations and 3 years down the road the price went from 7 bucks a domain to 48 each so I let 2 go since no one used them. Then some jackass in India came along and bought the domain and made it a political blog. There are people out there that's all they do, buy and sell domains so if you make the site something and that extra domain was a redirect, then don't renew it, someone else snagges it and could potentially make it very unflattering for your business. I've heard of some of those international rackets sending you a ransom note: "Send 5 thousand dollars if you want it back or we'll post pornographic images on the site" One of the customer service reps at Go daddy told me it was done to a church website. On the other hand someone could come by and do beautifullight.org... com etc then play on spelling like beautyfullyte.com or beautiful-light.com. Best thing you can do is get a Trademark and protect yourself otherwise where does it end? I think it's designed that way intentionally so you have to spend thousands a year. No one is safe.
  17. I'm guessing they are just starting out but I can't see from a consumer stand point that I would take the site seriously. Individual opinions that people have is one thing but they clearly state..... The opinion on your products will be positive regardless... as long as you pay that is. Selling ad space based on the keyword ranking that happens to be the name of the site. awesome. I'm sure they work hard and advertise to get your name out there, I just don't think it's a good fit for most. If we noticed it then so will the customer.
  18. Anyone hear of this place? http://www.sassyshops.com I got an email that they would sell me ad space for $15.00 for the year vs. their normal fee of $85. Never heard of them and this comment kind of bothered me. "Sassy Shops also offers site reviews. For a nominal fee you can have your site professionally written up in a review for all to see shown on Sassy Shops for one month and on your site indefinitely for added exposure for you! You will receive a private review just betweeen us and then one for display that shows your business in a very positive way!" Kind of seems dishonest and misleading on the writers part. And you have to check out the link how they promote your business. LOL Read #1 Because I know when my customers are searching candles that is what they all type in. Sassy....?
  19. You should call the police department in his township.
  20. No I think the majority are.I've never seen paid advertising for any of them, I'm sure some do pay. I've only seen mostly free link exchanges or an ad on a sister site and plugs on message boards. The customer buying the box pays the shipping. How else are they going to sell the boxes to the customer with out tempting them with the vendor ad and pictures. I just think it's a bad advertising investment. I really think the people selling the boxes are the only ones making money. I don't expect anyone to work for free, but I'm not working for free either and I think if they paid for the samples it would be fair. I agree.
  21. There is a restriction on how you are allowed to send your donation. "USPS only because FedEx and UPS have hidden fees for the recipient." They're called duties and taxes something that's pretty standard. Wonder if she requests the sender marks the box as gift too, why not right?:tiptoe:.
  22. I wonder if this was the same company as 10 years ago. I'll have to check it out but if it is I don't recall I was impressed and the prices were really high. I know it was One Stop Candle something.
  23. No I've never heard of them. This one made me roll my eyes:laugh2: "that they will sell" Yeah, I think we would all love to get FREE stuff to make a PROFIT on. I thought "donate" was always associated with a charity. Why do places like this feel that they don't have to pay for your products? In my opinion I always thought that sampler type box businesses should pay for the sample sized product. At the very least our cost to make the products. Exactly what are you supposed to get out of the deal? Exposure to what market, a bunch of cheap skates that would never pay for the product anyway? Let me guess, you get the honor of paying for the international shipping too. ETA: Same here, that is my policy too, NO FREE SAMPLES, unless it's on a paid order. I just delete those emails and don't respond.
