  1. I just started to make my own this year as I was sick and tired of paying the high prices and high shipping. Plus, I wanted something new to do! In the past I have bought from: Rustic Escentuals, Silkytyme, and Creative Illuminations.
  2. I noticed this board isn't as "hoppin" as the other ones. Are we a dying breed here? For those that make gel candles, check in!
  3. Wow...thanks for all the help..especially Candleman! I didn't spray with Pam..so maybe that was my problem? And I was using a generic aluminum foil. But, I will definitely try out all the helpful ideas! Oh, I actually pop mine in the freezer right when they come out of the oven cuz I like the rough/beady look (and so do the customers)..so the freezer cools em really quick. I wonder if that's why the foil might have stuck too? UGH..I should just go back to the way I was making em! hahaha Candle Man - the non stick teflon sheet...is that reuseable?
  4. So, I went to their website. Can someone explain exactly what this is, is it a good thing to be a member of? Will it give me more "credibility" if I join? I guess at this time, I'm not really sure what it does for you? Thanks!
  5. Hmm...I have never heard of parchment paper. I'll have to look for it when I go shopping next! Thanks! If that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to buy new cookies sheets. Phooey!
  6. Me too! For me, I can tell you what scents don't sell! Spring scents don't sell for me at this time. It's like once September comes, *boom*, customers are done with them! Cindym has a great list!
  7. Not sure quite where to put this thread, so I figured general?? Ok..I have been making the car air fresheners for 2+ years, but silly me had a brilliant idea last night (or..so I thought!) As of late, the cookie sheets I'm using sometimes seem to leave a sliver streak on the back of some of my car fresheners (guess it's time to get new ones). Anywho, I'm thought..hmm..what can I do so it doesn't leave a mark? Aluminum foil! Yep, I'll try that. Ummm...DON'T! That was the most stupid idea I have ever had! hahaha The aluminum foil sticks to the back of the fresheners, and you have to carefully peel it off. Pain in the butt! So, that idea out the window! I ended up ruining half of my batch cuz the foil wouldn't peel off :embarasse Wanted to share my experience in case anyone thought of the same thing! hahaha
  8. If your wax is too hot, that could cause the bleeding. I have noticed red is tricky. Another thing I do is, if the hat can be cut off, cut it off and then put it on after..either dipped or not dipped. I don't know of anything that you can put in the wax to help the bleeding. HTH
  9. I dip ones with beans, ones without..etc. Actually, I've noticed the ones with beans hold the scent MUCH longer. As long as it has stuffing inside and has fluffy hair on the outside, you'll be fine!
  10. I use a ceramic tile. They are cheap and it does the job! I have never had a complaint. This year I am going to personalize the bottom of them. HTH
  11. Nothing in my pot this weekend. My daughter is turning 1 on Sunday, so we are having a huge cookout Saturday...and it's gonna be hot and humid in the 90's!
  12. I call mine Auto Aromas. I package them in a 4x6 cello bag and then create a label out of cardstock and staple it on. Instead of punching holes in your bag, why not just have a designated sample out for them to sniff? That's why I do and it makes it so much easier for the customers to smell. Here's a pic of mine packaged: http://www.dropshots.com/day.php?userid=106550&cdate=20050303&ctime=123123 I'm sorry as I don't know how to insert an actual pic! Also, I put hanging tabs on them and hang them on a rack display for craft shows. And, I charge $2.00. HTH
  13. I'm sorry you guys are experiencing problems with them. I have never had a problem with Amy and her staff. Always helpful and great communication!
