  1. See, that's why I converted almost all of my gel "scene" candles to forever candles so they could burn them. I still have to "educate" some customers when I hear "Oh, those are pretty, but I would never burn em" YES you CAN! Funny thing is, my customers that buy the pie candles, burn those no problem. LOL Weird people I tell ya!
  2. That made me giggle! LOL What did we use before electricity was created?
  3. that us gel candle makers are looked down upon?? Sometimes I get the feeling that we are. Hard to explain :undecided I know gel isn't as popular as it once was with candle makers, but it's still popular with my customers. Do you think it's because so many other waxes have popped up? Or because of those nasty "exploding" rumors? Thoughts?
  4. Gel Wax..MP Cuz I'm a pro at it! bwhaha And I like the gel boogers.
  5. Ditto. BUT... I don't like the pretenses of why you joined in the first place. I'm not one for airing out a BUSINESS transaction in public. IMO, this has gone too far and should be handled by the customer and business. Why do I feel like I'm in politics all of a sudden? LOL
  6. I will never look at my seashells the same way ever again! LOL
  7. Ok..that's just weird! What gel were you using? I never had that happen either. :undecided
  8. Sizzled? Do you mean a bunch of bubbles came up out of it? I'm picturing sizzling like..meat sizzling! haha What I do is, set up my scene (sand, seashells..etc) and then pour a thin layer of gel on top of that. Then I let it set up a lil bit, and then pour the rest of my candle. Keeps the bubbles at bay that way. Also, I pour a lil hotter or cooler depending on how many bubbles I want for that particular candle. I do know other people that dip their seashells or embeds in gel wax first, then pour.
  9. You can do 2 things: 1. Pour at a very cool temp 2. Pour your gel, wait for it to set up a bit and then insert your embed. Although, if you do it this way, your embed might not sit on the "bottom" of the candle. Personally, I would just pour the gel at a very cool temp, unless you want your embed to suspend.
  10. I use hang tags..but then again, I have too. Wouldn't make sense to slap on a label on my gel creations! I do what you do too...buy the cheapy biz cards from Walmart and create my own. I always stick a warning label on the bottom of the candle too, as well as printing it on the back of my hang tag.
  11. Some people make em flat (crystal clear) others leave em bumpy. You can still use em. If anything, why not give em away to people and have them "test" em for you?
  12. I don't know what exactly went on..that's between the supplier and the customer. I just wanted to state that I hate to see Gelluminations being dragged through the mud! They are a GREAT company..AWESOME customer service! I have never had a problem with them. I have been ordering supplies from them..geez..since I started making gel candles. Terry & Lisa - Keep up the great work! And I love the sales you guys have!
  13. Thanks so much for all the help! And if anyone calls me trying to sell me on website stuff...oooo..don't get a pregnant woman riled up! Won't be pretty!
  14. Thanks so much Jami! One last question. How would I go about reporting it as an abused IP? Thanks again!
  15. But I have a separate thing that will tell if bots/spiders have visited my website. Hmmm...strange! Ok...putting website back on-line. Thanks guys!
  16. Ok, for my website, it tracks visitors and their IP addresses and tells me what pages/products they were looking at. Basically, their activity. I took my shopping cart/products off line right now because there is this one IP address that keeps looking at my website today. I'm talking, 7x today, and a total of 900+ pages. They are looking at EVERYTHING! I know how to look up an IP address and get a ballpark of where they are located (doesn't usually work tho). And they "looked" at 200+ pages after I took it offline. They should have been getting the "website is down for maintenance" message. So, not sure what's up with that? Is anyone IP address savy? Has anyone experienced this? Here's the IP address...it's coming up as "Unkown" 208.99.195.54 DH thinks someone is "phishing"???? I don't know what to do!
  17. I see it now too! But, seriously..it was NOT there before! Wow..I'm having a dork day I tell ya Thanks so much!
  18. Eek! Where did it go? Does anyone know if they discontinued it? Or does it just not show up if it is out of stock?
  19. I'm pregnant now too and certain smells are getting to me also. When I'm making my stuff I wear a mask..not pretty, but hey! Keeps me from puking! haha I don't have any suggestions tho when you're at shows. Have a happy and healthy 9 months!
  20. Ok..so since it's a plastic fish, I definitely wouldn't wick it. I know some gel candle makers in the past would and their reasoning is "Well, I wick it small..and the melt pool doesn't even come close to the fish". Still...taking such a huge risk there! Ya never know what could happen. Definitely double glass And..what's a "pinch" in the wick???
  21. Do you want a critique of your candles?? They look good except..are those vinyl/plastic fish in your candles? If so, I wouldn't wick the candle then. I would make it a forever candle (with a tealight or a votive). Don't want the fishy to catch on fire! Also, is there a wick stopper at the bottom so it doesn't burn to the sand and seashells? If not, major fire hazard there too.
  22. Not if you quick heat it with a heat gun before you pour...or right after you pour, zap the outside with the heat gun. Takes practice
