  1. Carol you are gonna love the Bay Rum FO. My 11yr old son loves it too bits and to be honest me and a few of my friends are also partial to it aswell...
  2. Forgot to add this link to my earlier message sorry, But this is where i've been looking for moulds, My supplier has chocolate and ice tray moulds which i'm thinking of getting for batb bombs and soaps, but this site actually has "mens & women's" moulds specifically for soaps and candles. Hope it helps. http://www.soapandcandlemolds.com/noveltymolds.asp They have heaps of other good moulds there too.
  3. Yes I thought it was cute too, I love angels so think this is something i definately want to sell. Isn't it amazing what parents get up to that the kids just don't know (hey and vice versa). Yes powder would be fantastic too. Your daughter sounds like mine. Kiarni has super long hair but it's so fine it's annoying. Ashame your in america sounds like your products would be perfect for her. I need to find something for head lice too, would like a spray in thing and soap or shampoo sort of thing for it. They've just merged all our schools together here, since then it seems to be a weekly occurance for her. I usually spray with tea tree oil in water then wrap her hair in glad wrap. Sorry got off track there. Anyway, every kids loves monster stuff so i'm sure you're range will be wonderful and very popular with them. Good luck with it
  4. OK dirty secrets are coming out so here's mine. My business is selling adult products and lingerie, which happens to be how i found this website and started making B&B and now soaps and eventually candles. Women are best buyers and believe it or not alot of older women buy from me, I do party plan and they usually buy massage oils or shower gel etc. I make bath bombs (and will try soaps) out of male shaped moulds (trying not to offend here...lol) and will be getting moulds from my supplier to make women moulds aswell. Trust me when I say you will do a lot better with him if he has a good business and good repore(sp?) with his customers then all of her referalls put together. If he can sell well he will sell well for you. I'm sorry you had a bad day with this lady hun i really am but honestly i know from experience what people want and they want candles. When they plan that romantic or naughty night in they'll be buying toys for that reason but what usually comes before that romantic or naughty night???? A nice romantic bath usually with candles to set the mood then in the bedroom what does everyone want??? candles again to set the mood (or she wants the light off he wants it on and candles are their compromise ). Good luck with it all hun. I wish you every success and if "dirty man" knows his business and how to sell it then you're in for a long and prosperous business with him. Keep your chin up and it will all work out.
  5. Thanks scented, I tried to roll them into balls is there an easier way to make sure they are actually balls and don't look like my son's playdough at kindergarten.???...lol I tried the ball thing they looked out of shape. I have them in a tupperware container at the moment and they're keeping the same texture so i should still be able to make soap balls.
  6. WHOO HOOO they ship to Australia, I worked out 45 scents will cost me $60AUD, Which is what hubby said i could put on his CC. Now if i could just narrow down my selection to 45 scents i'll be happy....lol
  7. Not dreaming of soap just yet but have found that I cannot walk into a shop without thinking to myself "hmmm that could be used for......". for some reason it consumes my shopping abilities no end. I've made another CP since this one. I made "tahitian petals" but i don't have a wooden mould yet and the whole ice cube container was the cause of me having to hack my soap to pieces so i used a milkyway mould. And they turned out perfect. Also with my first i used dewberry FO but have since realised it's not for soap. Hence the funny smell. The tahitian petal soaps have filled my kitchen with a magnificent aroma, that i love to bits. The soaps themselves are a plain light blue but they all turned out. I've gone mad on the M&P aswell. Just learning that one, i've figured out how to blend colours nicely and tonight learnt how to layer. So i'm having fun with it all, But boy oh boy is it addictive. I'm already sick of the basic stuff im doing and looking for bigger and better challenges...lol
  8. OMG talk about WOW factor. You've got it made hun. Those look absolutely dreamy. My first one's turned out hacked...lol usable but hacked. Yours are good enough to sell straight up. Good job and well done. Look forward to seeing more :highfive:
  9. Hi pamperme, my kids love bubble gum. When i get going the number one thing i want to stock is Angel Cream, not sure if you've got a recipe but here it is for you if you're interested. Angel Cream Add some glittery eye shadow which has been broken up finely to a small amount of hand cream. Add to a small jar and decorate. Add poem. Rub a small amount on the back of a child's hand before going to bed to attract angels to watch over them in the night. Poem Night is here, and it's time to go to bed. But, before you lay down your sleepy head, On the back of your hand rub some angel cream So angels will watch over you as you dream. I think this is a wonderful idea for kids, I remember when my daughter was little she was always scared of ghosts. So we got a squirter bottle added some lavender fragrance oil, printed up a fancy label and put on the bottle. We use to spray "NO GHOST" in her room every night before she went to bed and it worked like a charm. To this very day she doesn't know it was water and lavender and she's almost 11 . I think the angel cream would work wonders in much the same way too. ETA: sorry realise that got off the track of what you were asking but thought it might be of interest to you for your kids range. Any way back to your question. I voted Bubble Gum, another favourite of my kids is "jelly bean" that could definately be coloured green for your range.
  10. I've made 2 batches of CP now and have waited till the next day. I made room in the cupboard to hide my dishes so i didn't have to look at the mess, then the next day i fill my sink with boiling hot water and detergent, just let them sit in it for a while then lift them out and they're all done. I just rinse with hot water and dry them. I don't do this for my moulds though, not sure if it's the same as making chocolates but i remember my mum would never put her chocolate moulds in detergent. So i just rinse them with hot, hot water and dry with a tissue.
  11. Thanks everyone. Still hunting to find freezer paper. Our butcher only uses plain white paper so when i go to the city i'll look for it there and buy up big. I do intend to get a wooden mould soon so hopefully i'll be able to master the art of lining...yeah right i looked at eugenia's instructions and though i don't have a hope doing that, but who knows i might just get there one day. Thank you for posting it too eugenia. I'm going to practice before i get a wooden mould then i should have it all sorted out when it arrives. What do you mean you all want to see it when it's cut...lmao i can show you pics of it when it was hacked....lol http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27405 I realised i need to invest in something to properly cut them. So that's on my to get list. OH and AJ, i'm not talking to you hun . It was your recipe that got me addicted to this whole soaping thing in the first place....hhmmmppphhh lol J/K i really must thank you for posting it and making me get of my backside and stop lurking on the forums wishing i could make soap. Your recipe was perfect for me i called it my supermarket soap because everything i needed was found at my supermarket. So now when you see my posts of soaps i've made it's you who needs to feel guilty not me... Well that's my story and i'm sticking to it so if hubby asks.... just agree .... thanks
  12. Thanks Steph, that colour was called violet and I'm using heirloom body care's liquid soap colour, here is there link. http://www.heirloombodycare.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=136_138&products_id=304 AJ i've been doing more since then, I've tried my hand at layering. The first one i fouled up i didn't wait long enough for the bottom layer to support the top one, Second time round i got it. So now i'm doing AFL Football team colours . When i'm 100% confident on the layering then i'm doing that chocolate cake soap. Starting to wonder why i didn't start soaping years ago, I'm having so much fun and my son has been using "bay rum" soap for 3 nights now and every night he makes me smell his skin. Wondering when the novelty will wear off. For all of us involved...lol
  13. Thanks guys. Everyone laughed at me when i said i was making black soap. Seeing as everything i do or make or wear is black, it just wouldn't be me if i didn't do black. I copped all the jokes about how soap is suppose to make you clean, how's black soap gonna clean you etc. At least with white soap you see the dirt etc. But most of all they just laughed. I scented them with Bay Rum and now my 11 year old son uses it every night, tells me to smell his face after a bath and has demanded i make more....lol But he has also told me if i plan on selling my soaps i'm not allowed to sell the Bay Rum he's decided he wants them all to himself. He's even not too proud to use a flower soap
  14. Thanks Tara, that's the "lotus flower" mould, I originally bought i was going to use it for bath bombs, All we have around here are round bath bombs i thought it would be a little bit different but I love it for the soaps especially the multi coloured ones.
  15. A huge big thank you to everyone for your encoragement. I'm not sure what freezer paper is called over here, but I can't find it at the supermarket all i can find is wax paper . Don't have a hobby store here so will check next time i go to the city. I do have heaps of scraps but have made soap balls that the kids can't wait to try out. My second CP turned out remarkably better but when i cut them they cracked and broke a little bit. But still turned out fine. Thanks again for the encoraging kind words.
  16. Thanks for the replies, I made CP soap the other night and cleaned my SB straight away and put the rest of the dishes into a cupboard till the next day. It was heaps easier then.
  17. AJ your way too funny, it was actually your recipe i used for my first and second CP. I'm calling it my supermarket soap cos everything i needed was at my supermarket. Well done Kymber, i was the same as you but thought to heck with it and jumped straight in the deep end with the swirls they didn't turn out the best but hey at least the soap turned out...lol I look forward to seeing your soap and the rest of your addiction in the weeks and months to come
  18. here's some more I'll stop adding pics now. Don't want to bore you all...lol
  19. Hi guys, I did my first CP the other day and posted the pics, Since then i've gone a little silly with the whole soap thing. I've done another CP using moulds and learnt abit there, the ones i sprayed turned out funny while the one's i forgot to spray and didn't realise till it was too late turned out the best. I've also been doing some M&P which i've never done before and i'm quite impressed with the results. Hubby likes the second batch of CP the best. They all laughed at me making a black soap but guess which one they are all asking me "when are you making more"?? Here's some pics.
  20. Who' BCS? would love to check out their sale.
  21. Thank you Carrie, I've written it down and I've got my family and friends looking for rubbing alcohol so i'll let them all know what it is really called. I'm finding it hard finding certain things so hopefully that will make it easier. I was almost going to buy a bottle of vodka, at least if it didn't work i could drink it too
  22. Thanx, I checked out our grocery store they didn't stock it but they also said to try the pharmacy. So as soon as they open i'll check them out. Then hopefully i can get rid of the bubbles. Was reading on here it's best to pour slower too, so i'll pour it really slow next time see how that goes.
  23. After doing my CP. I wanted to try my hand at my M&P considering i had heaps of it delivered. I wasn't sure what to do and decided the cake i posted about might be a bit extreme for my first attempt aswell as the fact i can't find any rubbing alcohol around here. So settled on a recipe for strawberries n cream M&P. OMG does it smell divine. Well made that pretty quick so decided to make a jack frost bar. Not sure this one turned out how it should of but still turned out ok, Hubby hates it now cos all the pretty smelling things he says makes him hungry all the time, and the jack frost M&P was Raspberry so he especially hated that one. Has anyone else made frost bars before that could probably tell me where I went wrong on them, all things considered though and considering it is my first batch and i'm a newbie I am quite proud of these ones. Also without rubbing alcohol i'm not quite sure how to get rid of the bubbles that formed. Any help would be great. Edited to add: Believe it or not I actually do have other colour dye's...lol just wanted to try the strawberry n cream, aswell as my new raspberry FO so pink was logical choice, I can't wait to try out my black dye, going to make a "bay rum" soap tomorrow and make it black...
  24. ROFPMSL i'd kill to be able to get away with that one, He'd know. I don't have a dishwasher either so bit hard. I let the dishes wait till the next day put them in some hot water and they cleaned up really well. Unfortunately i did the same with my stick blender. So next time i'll now to shoosh that up in some hot water as soon as i'm finished. I can't stand having a mess out even till the next day, it irritates me no end, so what I did was cleaned a spot in one of my top cupboards and put my mess in there till the next morning it cleaned up with no hassles at all. Thanks for everyone's replies they've been great and answered exactly what I wanted to know so thank you everyone so much.
