  1. I found this site awhile back but they have a $150 minimum. Doesn't look like they have too many 'scraggles' or shaggies though, but some cute stuff. http://www.plushinarush.com/
  2. Others may chime in with different answers, but I use soy flakes for votives and 1 to 1.5% per pound.
  3. If I'm just making one candle or a few tarts I do my soy flakes in the micro, just not too long. Also use a pyrex cup.
  4. CC, how do you do frosting? Not that I would have the talent for it, just didn't know it was possible!
  5. I bought a candle in one today and it looks so great. Maybe this company has them specially made. I'm trying to fing the manufacturer of the candle on the web but so far no luck. Anyone ever heard of Evergreen & Ivy in Fayetteville AR?
  6. Hey all, I've been all over the internet looking for these. I want a frosted square mason jar with smooth sides and a silver/zinc lid. Don't want much do I Any help finding these would be appreciated! TIA
  7. Re wax for tarts, if you want to do soy don't use container wax, but a soy votive wax (I use Cargill V1). Forgot to add the votive wax is designed to shrink away from mold so should pop out easily.
  8. AquaTech has the best shea body butter I've ever used. I believe it's called Tropical Butter. My friends are always begging for it!
  9. I suppose I might be overwicking, but when I wick down I don't feel I'm getting the burn needed. You know though as I look back over my notes, it may just be happening on the first burn and then seems OK...need to finish additional multiple burns I guess. Chris77, I had a very experienced chandler tell me to try the LX series (I use C-3 wax) so I've just ordered some. I know you can get good sample packs at LSCS. I think they even have a 'master sampler' with a few of all wicks and sizes they carry.
  10. Hey all, just wondering about the eco wicks and if anyone else is getting bad mushrooms? I love almost everything about these except for that. A few times they have split at the tips into double or triple tips and after blown out I have not one mushroom, but two or three per wick!
  11. Hey Beth, all of my test burns have been at right at 4 hours and so far the curling has not caused any wicks to go out. What the curling does cause is one side to pool faster than the other, but it does seem to even out toward the end or catch up on the next burn so I haven't worried about it.
  12. also, just ordered some warning labels from LSCS specifically designed for soy candles and it says to trim to 1/8" instead of the standard 1/4" warning...perhaps I stumbled upon the flicker/sooting solution by accident!
  13. Hey HenryK, I'm almost finished testing my 8oz and 12oz metros and have not had sooting problems yet...they have burned about halfway down the jars. I'm using C-3 wax and an eco12 in the 8oz and eco14 in the 12oz. (with color and fragrance) I have found with the eco's that if I trim to 1/8 inch instead of 1/4 inch it eliminates the flickering which I suppose reduces the sooting also...just guessing, I'm fairly new to all of this!!! oops, that should be eco 10 in the 8oz and eco12 in the 12oz...
  14. Hi All...testing this week NG's Christmas Splendor and Orange Clove in my C-3 flakes at 1.5 per lb and one or two drops of liquid color with Eco wicks... Christmas Splendor is out of this world cold and hot throw in tarts and cold throw immediately in candle...will test candle hot throw in a day or two Orange Clove, same results! Can't wait to burn them, but the tarts are tiding me over...I've discovered that patience is a virtue with this wax and candle hot throw. I will be patient, I will be patient, I will be patient!!!
  15. Thanks for posting this, I've been wondering myself having found a few sites that offer 'soy based' fragrances. Is it a marketing tool or do they really work better...hope someone who knows can let us know!
  16. I am at GL site now ready to order wick setters, single and multiple. My ole' eyeballs just can't seem to eyeball it right even if I use criss cross tape!
  17. Wow, thanks to all who've chimed in to help. I appreciate it and will check out all ideas. gmaw, thanks for the offer but I'm really looking for the metro style...it's the only one I have been able to wick successfully so far! Trish, very excited to hear Fairway is adding that style, I love working with them and the are closer to me than most, plus they will also be operating soon out of either Las Vegas or Southern CA so even better! Chris - thanks for that link, I'll check them out You guys are great!
  18. Hi all, I know this is an older thread, but I'm new to the boards and just found it. Thought I'd chime in and bump up since I've just tested several of these from NG In 100% Soy flakes with eco wicks, I used 1.5oz per lb and one or two drops of liquid color of the following: Iced Cinnamon Buns - awesome in tarts immediately (hot and cold; Candles: cold throw great immediately and hot throw great after 4 or 5 day cure. Sweet Potatoe Pie - can't tell you how great this scent is. I love it! I got the same results as above. You can smell all the notes at one time or another, even marshmallow! Hot Orange Danish - not on the list above but so yummy, I've used all my sample tarts and am having withdrawals. Same results as the other two. Tarts and cold throw immediate, candle hot throw great after several days. Just a note: after a couple of small batches I discovered that a longer stir of all worked better. Guess because they are 'heavy' oil??? I have on hand, but have yet to test Christmas Splendor, Hot Baked Apple Pie (old version) and orange clove. Hope this helps a bit with their top 10 holday scents!
  19. Also thanks Crowded House...great idea to check out restaurant supplies in my area. Will also give Libby a call!
  20. Thanks snow! I have the metro jars from FancyCandleJar...they're nice but I'm looking for the 16 or 20oz size and was told Libby might have them:cool2:
  21. Does anyone know where I can order Libby candle glass online. I'm in AZ and am looking for the metro style with lids in several sizes. Thanks!
