  1. Ooops...one more question. When you double wick, how far apart do you place the wicks?
  2. Thanks geek, I'll try to order some of those wicks
  3. I found some really cute handpainted metro jars with flat lids (20oz I think, haven't weighed yet) at the dollar store yesterday. I'm going to pour one or two tonight using C3 wax and white ginger FO at 1.5%. The jar is 3 1/8" inside diameter and about 4 1/2" tall without the lid. I am debating whether to single wick or double wick. I have Eco 10 12 and 14 on hand, but nothing else. any suggestions from veterans? Thanks
  4. Wow Angela, I would love a copy of that. May I PM you?
  5. Thanks all...I'll be more patient. Any idea if a change of wick is needed? Guess I'll know more after curing more. Lucy...yes it does talk back, thought I'd gotten away from all that;)
  6. thanks ladysj, just can't figure why the tarts throw so soon and the candles won't...must be more patient with cure time I guess!
  7. Hello, wanted to introduce myself. This is my first post but I've been reading thousands of posts since joining. So much information, so little time! I'm a retired teacher and Ive been making bath and body for several years and am just now venturing into soy candles. What a difference! Been experimenting with soy candles and tarts using Cargill C3 flakes and 3 bakery fragrances from NG (Sweet Potatoe Pie, Hot Iced Cinnamon Buns and Orange Danish, all at 1.5 oz per lb). I'm melting to 185 to 190, adding fragrance and color at 175 stirring slowly for several minutes and again just before pouring slowly at about 150. Using a 9oz beanpot jar wicked with an Eco 12, then pouring the remaing wax into fluted tarts shells. The tarts and candles both have awesome cold throw and the tarts throw like crazy when melted (even immediately after cooling). I cannot however get a good hot throw from the candle after 48 hours of curing. I am suspecting my wick is wrong. I get a nice melt pool (according to all the posts I've read) in the proper amount of time. Any advice appreciated...looking forward to being a member!
