  1. Just wondering if when remelting fragranced wax if a lot of fragrance strength is lost and what is the recommended method for this might be? (I'm using GL 70/30 soy/para blend)
  2. Sorry, should have said the French Market that I used was from NG...I put it in GL's 70/30 and yes it is very floral and green. I'm not a great floral fan, but floral lovers will get their money's worth with this one!
  3. I've put it in wax (GL 70/30) and it is truly a kick booty flower shop scent!
  4. forgot to add I just started playing around with chunk style container candles using the 70/30 as overpour and soy votive wax for chunks...they are coming out lovely, but I think these containers may give me a better burn...hope springs eternal!
  5. After you posted Michaels having them, I dashed up there but their shelves were empty although the tags were on the shelf. I was told they may be in by next Thursday...my Michaels is charging 2.49 each...I did find a supplier to get them for me at about the same price including shipping and no sales tax so ordered 3 cases to get started. If they work like I hope they do I have a friend who can order them for me directly from Reikes at a much cheaper price...surely appreciated the tip!
  6. Henryk glad you popped in! I just ordered some of the Libbey 15 oz cylinder jars to try out...figured they would compliment my 8oz metros plus they are shorter and bigger around so may not have the same dancing issues as they get lower. Can't wait to try them out...I just wanted something with a very large diameter that wasn't sooooo tall. Wish me luck, or better yet send me wicking suggestions!
  7. Frangelico Struessel is super strong and very different....smells like caramel liquer!
  8. Thanks Meredith... I'm using 70/30 with fragrance (6 to 8%) and a few drops of liquid color...no other additives. I'm testing in the 8oz and 12 oz metros and attempting to double wick the 12oz... I think I'll order some sample sizes of the cottons and see if that helps...thanks for all the info and the wicks that curl and those that don't!
  9. I saw this post the other day and spent a long time trying to find it again but can't...anyhow, is there a wick that tends to burn faster outward than down? I use 70/30 soy/para blend and all my wicking attempts (with eco's and LX) seem to burn down really deep faster than outward and as they get toward the bottom sometimes fall into the wax...I have a feeling I'm mostly overwicking, but anything lower doesn't seem to get a full melt pool in time or leaves lots of hangup. Anyway, just wondering if there is a wick that won't tend to burn down into the wax so deep. TIA
  10. thanks HenryK!...they are Libbey jars...I want something to compliment my 7.5oz status/metro jars and am finding the 12oz metros a real pain to wick so thought these might be better since they are shorter. I'll check my Michaels store...do you mind telling me what they cost?
  11. Does anyone know where I can buy these jars without a re-sale liscense? I just want to order a few for testing and gift giving. They are 15oz cylinder jars and are H=2 7/8 in. D=3 3/4 TIA! http://www.riekesglass.com/omaha/product/view.asp?id=62
  12. Wow Michelle, briefly checked out your site...it's lovely! Just wondering if you do soy candles or paraffin? I use a 70/30 soy/para blend and also use color which I suppose may be why I have trouble wicking...usually only after the halfway point and down... got any tips for wicking these 12oz?
  13. When I talked with Ron awhile back, he told me their jars are approved by the American Candle ???something or other (I forget the abbreviation). I also have a sample and they are very nice...not the thin imports. Lucky for me in AZ they have a distribution center in Las Vegas and will be moving that one to Southern California...either way yeah! for us Southwestern folks! I also asked about the 8oz and they will not be around for awhile. I talked with him about the difficulty wicking the 12oz and hinted that the 8oz would be a great item to add. They actually do their own production and thus it's a time consuming process.
  14. Here's another site where I saw it... http://www.maddisonavenue.net/soy_candles_safety.htm
  15. Thanks Kymber, I'll give it a try...may help the throw also by the candle being all 70/30!
  16. don't the 70/30 chunks melt when you do the overpour?
  17. Thought I read somewhere on here how to get most of your chunks near the outside of the jar, but a search turned up nada...I'm using soy votive wax for my chunks and 70/30 soy/para blend for the overpour. Mine have actually turned out very pretty but the harder votive wax and so many chunks is wreaking havoc for wicking. Anyhow...if someone can give me some tips I'd appreciate it! TIA
  18. I always trim shorter than 1/4 with no problems. I find that I get more soot and dancing in soy if they are too long...I even bought some warning labels at LSCS specifically for soy that say to trim to 1/8 as always, different strokes for different folks!
  19. Tart Addict...whoooo hoooo from me too...news tonight said we here in the Valley will have 7 days below 100...so cool around 95 a day...nights are getting cooler, time to crank up the spa and look at the stars! WY Jen...love your drop on the counter method...sounds like it will work for me and a great way to vent
  20. Hey Tart Addict, I'm in AZ too...thought I might be the only one! Can you tell me what issues you had with the mini trays? Was the problem soy votive wax not coming out or something else?
  21. thanks everyone...I'll check out that site. I'm using votive soy was for my chunks so they should pull away just fine. If your's dont come out try popping them in the freezer for a few minutes!
  22. I'm interested in these also. Does anyone know where you can get larger than the 2oz that Kangaroo Blue carries? I have the WSP but they have a rounded end...TIA
  23. I fill up crystal clear candy jars or cracker jars (you can get these at target, walmart, kmart etc) and place a sample bag on the top of each. I also display these on risers ...looks like a candy store !
  24. Check their website...I believe they have percentage recommendations for most of their products.
