  1. Thanks IwantItgreen. I poured 3 small tumblers (2.5" diam) in 6006. One with an LX 14, one with a CD 8 and one with an Eco 2. I got nice pools from all, but the CD and Eco's definately threw the best. I have several more burns till the bottom of the jar so we shall see what happens as they burn down. I like the Eco's a bit better because they don't curl as much at the tip, but as said, remains to be seen what happens at the end. You said you use a 6006 blend. Did you mean 6006 on it's own, or do you blend in some extra soy?
  2. Yikers Nj, Steve is right. I always confuse the two waxes from Clarus! My coconut oil mix was done with the 3020 blend, not the 3022. They had made a new blend called 3033, based on their 3020 to which they added 8-10% CO. When I finally got around to testing it I really liked it and called to order more but they had sold it all with no plans to make more. I was a day late and a dollar short as I often am. Anyway, blended up my own with their 3020. Sorry for the wonky advice and the mix up of numbers:(
  3. Add 8-10% coconut oil to it and pop in a 51 or 60zinc...you should get a very nice burn. I could never get that wax to burn across the jar without the CO. I know it sounds like a lot, but it works.
  4. Pam, my 6006 arrived in fine shape. It was well wrapped though. Puter, how did the htp and eco's do in the 6006? Did you like them?
  5. Thank you Pam, it certainly does. I'm going to try the 8 in my 3" jar and see what happens. Hey, I'm in Phoenix too...well Glendale actually:)
  6. Thanks. Are you using 6006? I hope to pour some up tonight with a variety of wicks. I'd love to know how they burn for you.
  7. This thread is 5 years old so not much is current. Do check the supplier link though at top of the fo page.
  8. Not much info in what info is still avaialable in search, but I saw almost no reference to anyone using eco wicks. When I was testing the now discontinued IGI 6036 (50/50) I tried them and got some awesome throwing testers so just for kicks I'm going to pull them out again and try them in 6006. I see on the Candlescience site they still recommend them as the best wick for 6006 which surprises me since no one seems to use them. I've been testing this wax for a couple of weeks and am pretty happy with zincs in it, but it's always fun to play. Gonna pour some up today in small tumblers with CD's and Eco's. Anyway, was just wondering if anyone else uses them in 6006 or other parasoys and what you think?
  9. Could be a bad fo, but sometimes with bakery scents in various parasoys I've tested, I have to mix my fo in at 190 or higher and stir like crazy. I found this tip in a search and started mixing all my fo's that high and seems to have made a difference. I just started testing the 6006 a couple of weeks ago so my fragrance experience with that wax is limited, but I sure am loving 6006 so far.
  10. Thanks guys. Leather just "sounds" heavy ha! But good to know. I'll wick it with my standard size for those containers and see how it does. I'm going to start one size up with the Eggnog since I think it's heavy on vanilla. Thanks for your help!
  11. Thanks all, I'm going to give it a try. Might order some cilantro too and mess with a little blending. Thanks again!
  12. Welcome to the board. Can't answer your question about the fragrance load, but I can say that a melt point of 125 is certainly low enough to melt in the back of a box truck while shipping. Holy canoli...try shipping to Phoenix in July...(or many other states with the heatwave this year)! Anyway, welcome again:)
  13. Stella, I am testing. Just asking for others experience so I have a starting point. Please don't make the assumption I am not testing.
  14. Well, that would be helpful eh? I'm pouring 6006 in a 2.75 and 3" tumbler...starting with zinc wicks
  15. Never poured these before and just wondered if I need to wick up? Thanks:)
  16. Oh, I think people were just joshing with you. Chandlers rarely use a turkey fryer to cook a turkey. Just to melt wax. It was a bit funny though:)
  17. I don't really know about the propane ones...I certainly wouldn't want to try it since you can't control the temp digitally. Search is kind of wonky right now but if you search "turkey fryer" you may find lots of older thread about using them. Many chandlers who do large production use and love them. I have three presto pots and love them. You can get several pounds of wax (I think up to 8) in them. I keep one full of my parasoy container blend, one with my tart wax and use the other just to play around with all the waxes I've accumulated over the years. You can ever buy the kind that have been altered with a pour spout. I don't use the pour spount on the one that has it. Just dip with a ladle or measuring cup. I keep my pour pot warm on a griddle. HTH
  18. Hey guys...give the girl a break. She was just trying to be helpful:) I think that's a great tip if you will be frying a turkey. Wish I had know it before last Thanksgiving:) Back to using an electric turkey fryer for candlemaking. The trick is to always keep the coils covered with wax, never let the wax level go below that point and control the temp. Jack, you might think about getting a couple of Presto Pots (available at Walmart, Target etc) They are great for melting wax. Much better than the double pot method.
  19. Yes, I've used both Peaks and Lonestar over the years. Just bemoaning the fact we don't have any in AZ. I use some of Genwax jars, and once tried and hated their 50/50 wax. Don't even know if they still sell it. They have decent tumblers, nice and heavy but "wavy" on the inside which contributes to bad glass adhesion.
  20. Thanks everyone. RWV, good to know it throws in parasoy. Wonder why no cilantro notes though?
  21. Outstanding! Good for you! Wish we had craftmalls here. We had one a couple of years ago, and 6 weeks after I rented and stocked my booth I got an email they were filing bankruptcy. Tough times for craftmalls and crafters:(
  22. Thanks Candybee! I did heat my jars with my heat gun, but maybe not long enough. Used the styro box since our air conditioning is on full blast and I have to do that with my parasoy containers but this glass glow is quite a different beast! Thanks for all the tips!
  23. Thanks all again. I will try and be patient enough to wait. I'm usually not with my parasoy and it does make a difference in burn quality. Hey Eric, I am a native "Zonie". Born in Tucson, raised in Flagstaff and now living in Phoenix since 1976. We zonies have a tough time with shipping prices so high and no close suppliers. Wish we had some here:(
  24. Thanks everyone for all your help! This is all I need, a new wax to play with, but I am waiting on some supplies so might as well. They look pretty good if I do say so myself but we shall see how they burn. This time I poked relief holes and let them finish cooling then heat gunned this morning. Next time I will try flipping and see how that works. The top half inch of the candle set up darker than the rest, but I did find an old thread that mentioned to cover the tops with a towel so I'll try that too. I cooled them on a rack inside a styro cooler. I put a CSN 12 in my 2 3/4" tumbler and a CSN 14 in my 3" tumbler so we shall see how they burn. Fragrance (Frozen Margarita) at 6% and 4 drops liquid lime color. CT is out of this world. Here's hoping the HT is too. I'm sure I'll have more questions with the search feature being so wonky. Thank goodness for helpful folks like you!
