  1. i was poking 3 or 4 holes on one side and in the corner, maybe i should do a few more? I have a bunch of votives that need to be remelted and repoured, guess i will practice on those, do you do a second on one side a second on the other and back and forth? or one side at a time? Is low setting the proper setting for the heatgun?

  2. Could someone please give me a detailed description on how to do this without melting the buggers. It seems as soon as i place enough heat on them to move the shrink wrap, it melts the votive. It's also bubbling in ugly patterns rather then being smooth and proffessional looking. I have my heat gun on low, and am lightly moving around the votive from a few inches away. This is the 4 inch shrink wrap tubing from Packco.

  3. Actaully My board is not the scent review, The scent review is Todds Board, which is the original link posted at the top of the message. I run grand scentral staion. I am setting up a new domain because I decided I would do this if the board took off , which it has. The www.szenasi.ca was originally for a family website, and we're overexceeding the traffic limit on it within the first week of each month. :) No copyright issues, also wanted to have a nice address for it. I am not going to get a chance to switch domains today, wedding shower I have to help organize and attend, and last minute baby sitting duties. The old address scentreview.szenasi.ca will always still work, it will just forward you to the new URL once i have it setup.

www.grandscentral.com (oops gonna have to fix this on my site, I typod it) should hopefully be up and running soon. Ignore the "See told you it was up" on the main page, its a result of nagging my husband , not this message :)

  4. Or if you have room put the whole mold in the fridge, I do this if i want to prevent gel on the batch, soap comes out a lighter colour after cure if it dosnt gel.

Great idea about the ice cubes, going to go freeze my leftover goatsmilk right now before the carton expires :)

  5. Dont worry Carmen, Ive gotten my husband to try my soap once, he still uses Zest. I even removed all traces of commercial soap from my bathroom, and he used my sons baby dove soap to wash his hands...grrrr. I am going to keep trying, but I know how you feel, my mother in law wont try my soap either.

  6. I use my normal base oils and replace my water with goatsmilk. I add the lye to it when its frozen to slushy. It will turn a light yellowish brown color. Just make sure you add the lye slowly and stir.

You could try adding a 1 TBS of Honey and 2 tsp of ground oatmeal PP to make an oatmeal milk and honey soap.

  7. I buy mine in large quantities, 25kg bags from a soap and candle supplier about an hour and a half away. I have to pic it up, they will not ship it. Here, not only is it hard to find, its horribly expensive, $9.99 for 9oz, $13.99 a pound. Guess they figure they can make Meth unaffordable too. From the supplier i get it for about $2.00 a pound. You might want to try chemical warehouses too if you make enough soap to warrent a large quantity, I like knowing I wont run out for a LONG LONG time :)

  8. Thank you for posting that bunny, it's a great help. I was always under the impression that Hard Oils were the ones that remained solid at room temp, and soft oils were in liquid form. I see soybean oil as a soft oil, does hydroginating it to make it solid at room temp change this?
