  1. I came up with a set of candles scents to offer together as a gift set, but still debating on whether to go with votives or a small container candle. The scents I will be using are: Mai Tai, Tahitian Daquari, Mojito, Cappuccino, Chai Tea, Hot Cocoa(last two are still under consideration). The entire set will be marketed under the name: Saturday Night and Sunday Morning with three scents on one side of the gift set, and the other three on the other side. Just wondering if anybody out there had any feedback about different scents to use, or the name!
  2. This weekend, hmmm....getting some body sprays together, bath teas, body wash, finishing up work on my labels, going over some paperwork, and getting some yard work done.
  3. Today, or well yesterday if you're on the east coast, I filed my DBA(sole prop.), filed for sales tax id#, and got my Fed EIN(though I didn't need it right now, but always looking ahead to the future!). So, as of July 14th, 2006: Island Breezes Candles and More is official! We will officially open the website to the public for orders on August 1st!!!
  4. This is probably a stupid question, but was wondering if anyone utilized a blog as a part of their business? This is another item I am on the wall about right now, but I do know for a fact that some big corporations use them as a marketing tool to reach out for feedback from customers. Just wondering out loud while doing some research...time for bed, way too late at night to be working.
  5. Good for you in getting the decision in your favor. Good record keeping is ESSENTIAL in business, and I'm glad that everything worked out for you in the end!
  6. I bought some Pink Sugar FO from KB, and checked their site to see if it could be used in Soy Wax Candles, but there is no info on this. Has anyone used it in their candles? Would like to know before I start making candles, and waste precious supplies!
  7. I would be interested in volunteering to do a marketing, or business type seminar at the conference. I am so psyched about this! I hope everything comes together!
  8. I'm currently using valueweb.com through costco. Couldn't beat the deal they had!
  9. Thanks for the help all, still deciding about this, may go the premade route, but the make it yourself masks seems like a fun idea, i think people may get a kick out of it!
  10. I've been looking into maybe offering mud masks as a part of my line, but the info I got from From Nature with Love says that the mask needs to be used immediately after mixing your clay and water. If I were to use for instance, my clay, distilled water, and a preservative, do you think this would hold up? I guess I'm answering my own question about testing, but was wondering if anyone had tried this, or offers it themselves.
  11. Valley Forge would be a great area to hold it in. I've been down there a few times for conventions, beautiful area. The King of Prussia mall is also a great place!
  12. Carol- Don't have a retail location as of yet, but it is in our business plan. Actually, have a friend in NJ, who owns three retail locations, one in Woodbridge mall, who is going to start carrying our products. As for the counters, yeah, that was never in my plan for the website, I hate those things. I thought the guestbook would be a good idea, but being a business I was kind of on the wall about it, perl's suggestion actually made up my mind for me, so it was taken out. I've still got some work to do as you can see, taking pictures, getting descriptions together, getting the shopping cart up(at least I got it working!), and hopefully it will all come together in the next few weeks! Thanks for the comments!
  13. If you can get it together, I'm all in. Would be my first conference also, well at least candle conference. This would be so great for east coast chandlers/b&b product makers!
  14. Thanks for the professinal perspective on the web site perlgoodies, I really do appreciate your insight into it. I did notice that the nav menu moved around a lot, and i did fix the font on the main page, which will change again I'm sure. Also, I was really on the wall about the guestbook, but seems as though I will drop it now. thanks again for the advice.
  15. Thanks for the comments everyone! I am going to change that font, it was on my to-do list, just forgot.
  16. Sara, yeah, have to fix that. I don't know why that got stuck on there.
  17. I finally got most of the site done, still need to add the pics and product description and put in the shopping cart, and a few links will be getting closed down as items get combined, but the foundation has been built and we will have a working e-store in the next few weeks. Let me know what you think, and please sign our guestbook and sign up for the newsletter! www.islandbreezescandles.com
  18. Testing, testing, testing...lol. Also, putting the finishing touches on the website.
  19. The poll question this time is: What is your overhead each month, not including supplies. Include all fees you pay each month.Basically hosting fees, fees for marketing(including banners, search engines, etc.), just the normal cost of doing business monthly.
  20. I'm sure someone has already posted a thread like this, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a list that showed all of the different helath and wellness benefits of the different types of oils used?
  21. Hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th! Well, now it's back to work again!
  22. Just wanted to bump this poll up. Getting a lot of votes, so if you haven't voted, please do if you use one of the labels listed! Oh and have a happy and safe 4th of July! Gene
  23. I've been looking at a couple of different merchant processors, and have yet to decide on which one to choose. Was wondering what everyone else uses, and your experiences with them.
  24. Northkountry-- where do you get the matches from? Are they printed with your store info on them, or just a plain book of matches? I was interested in doing that myself, but don't know where to begin.
