  1. I have not. Have you been able to have success double wicking this type of jar with zincs? I've tried Ecos, LX, HTP's...no luck.
  2. Hey everyone. I'm having a nightmarish time finding the right sized double wicks for my apothecary jars (16oz and 26oz). I use J-50. Lack of oxygen seems to be drowning some of the better sized wicks the further down you go. I buy my jars from TV Guilfoil (not that it really matters). Has anyone had success double wicking these jars?
  3. I could have sworn someone mentioned on here a while back where they saw those jars, but, I did a search and turned up nothing. I'm almost certain they aren't custom (possibly the coloring of the jars is custom) but, I'm pretty sure the jars themselves can be had. I just don't remember, for the life of me, where from.
  4. Any idea where they get their jars/lids? http://www.aspenbaycandles.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=47_306&products_id=823
  5. Are there any oils of theirs that are in need of wicking up on, other than the Very Vanilla?
  6. Old Mill's Turkish Delight is the best I've ever smelled. They have that at Tony's now.
  7. Folks, I'm testing the new wood wicks from Wicks Unlimited (MUCH better than the wood wicks being sold by certain suppliers). I'm testing using a 24-26 oz apothecary and I use J50. It seems that the wax pulls away from the wood wicks and, when I light it the first time, there is a massive sink hole which pretty much extinguishes the wick right after lighting. I pour in large quantities, so relief holes aren't an option. Would pouring cooler help? Pouring hotter? Would doing two pours help? I would love some help here as I'm racking my brain trying to figure this out.
  8. I, too, am surprised at how well her oils throw, given their VERY modest price.
  9. It's not the melt pool that's the problem, I think, it's the oxygen lacking when you get further down in the jar, on the TALLER ones (16oz, 22 oz, 26 oz, etc), with flames that begin getting smaller and smaller. I've tested LX-10's and you are right, after a couple of burns, they are fine, but, they absolutely don't work once you get further down in the jar. They aren't big enough. I've also tried going DOWN in size, as some have suggested that the smaller sizes tend to require less oxygen, and, while that makes sense, in practice it didn't work. I have found that the smaller the wicks, the less likely they are to work in this scenario.
  10. Wow. This is odd. I was about to post something VERY similar. I can't wait to see some responses.
  11. We are a regional manufacturer of candles, with a nationwide presence (our line is carried in close to 700 stores around the country). We are, by most standards, small, however, we take great pride in the quality of our product, and the amount of testing that goes into making our product and I can say unequivocally, that there is NO WAY to prevent mushrooming in 100% of fragrance/wax combinations. There simply isn't. We have inventory of almost every single wick, in every single size, on the market, and can make the above statement with a high level of confidence.
  12. I agree with Chatthills (sp?). Mushrooming can't always be prevented, even with proper testing, especially when using zinc cored wicks. Both those companies (Tyler and Aspen Bay...moreso Tyler) sell a crapload of candles, so they are clearly doing SOMETHING right. Could they make a better candle? Probably. But, they sell more candles in a day than I do in a couple of years, so, what do I know? There is nothing wrong, by the way, with putting a marketing spin on something like wick mushrooming, or wet spots, or anything else that we ALL know, sometimes, can't be prevented.
  13. I find that J-50 throws better than either of these two waxes hot. Although the 4627 still out-throws everything cold. I will agree that 4627 throws better (hot or cold) than J-223, but, J-50 to me is the king of hot throws.
  14. There are a couple that I know of (Creative Fragrances, Intercontinental), but, does anyone know of any other Fragrance Oil Manufacturers in the state of Texas?
  15. Isn't Richard's Packaging a domestic manufacturer of these?
  16. Thanks for the info. do you have a website for Fansia or some sort of contact info?
  17. Anyone know what the widest mouthed candle glassware, with lids, other than the larger tureens might be?
  18. Anyone know who manufacturers the Tyler Candle type Tureen Jars?
  19. Anyone know the manufacturer? I've never heard of this.
  20. http://www.thelampstand.com/oloilca.html?gclid=CMewmpbw35ACFRcdsgodaAIWYA What on earth is this? Old Virginia is claiming that their olive oil candles burn cleaner than soy.
  21. Who manufactures this specific brand of wood wick, and, are they different from the ones found at C and S or WSP?
  22. I've been looking and looking and looking and can't seem to find any. Can anyone here help?
