It costs me 2.38 to make a 9oz hex jar candle. I live in OR and shipping almost doubles the price of wax for me.
Patricia
I'm glad you chimed in, It also costs me well over $2.00 to make my 9oz hex jar. I was really starting to wonder what I was doing wrong,LOL. I have the same issue with shipping!!

I have frosting issues with several colors. I am using ecosoya pure cb soy. I haven't yet figured out what will stop the frosting. I have ordered some frostop from
http://www.barnloftcandles.com/candle_making.html. I'm really hoping this helps. Let me know if you find a solution, I will let you know if the frostop helps!

I melted some parafin yesterday to make my first hurricane and the smell was so bad I had to open all the windows in the house. I don't think I will be making parafin candles!!!

How far apart should the wicks be as a general rule? Any help is appreciated. TIA

That is very cool. I am very interested in hearing how they burn, and smell with both scents. Good job!!!

How much wax is left in the bottom of your jar?
About 1/2 inch. I just think thats a lot!

Do you use wick stickums? I am kinda wondering if that is what is keeping it from going all the way down. Also if you don't mind my asking Do you make your own wicks or by them pretabbed? I was also wondering if the neck on the tab is too tall. Thx for help!

Does any one know how to get their container candles to burn all the way to the bottom of the jar (like partylite).

Hi,
I use Ecosoya pure and have great throw (hot&cold). I add Fo at @150 and pour at @ 140-135. Have you tried different wicks? I use HTP's with good results. You might try adding your FO at lower temp, if that doesn't work try different wicks! That is what I would do. Hope this helps, I really love the throw from the ecosoya pure. I tried the advanced and it wasn't as good(IMO). I haven't tried the 135 but I am satisfied with the pure!!! Also I use 8-9% FO load on most scents, but I really don't know why 6% wouldn't give SOME throw. I just like really strong candles!!!

Hi,
I was trying to access your slideshow on how to make balloon orb candles and it tells me it is inaccessible. Is it too late to view it?

Hi,
I use ecosoya pure wax with a 9% FO load. I don't use mason jars , I use hex jars ( which are a little harder to wick IMO). I have had the best luck with HTP and ECO wicks. Hemp works good also. I add scent at 150 and pour at 140-135 then let it sit COVERED on top of the stove. They have been turning out very well. I WAS cooling in the oven(off of course) and having a lot of air bubbles and sinkholes. I hope this info helps you. Another thing is I would rinse my jars out, there can be a film inside. Good luck!!!

Is it better to cool fast or slow? I always thought slow was better but when I make my 2oz tins and 16 oz jars at the same time, the 2oz naturally cools faster(bc its small) and it looks perfect where the 16oz jar gets air bubbles and sinkholes. Does anyone know why this is happening?

I tried double wicking this jar with 2 htp 83's and after @ 3 hours had almost no flame. Should I wick up to 93's(which I kinda worry about because the 83's made the jar a little hot on the top) or is there a better wick I should be using? I only have sample packs of eco's and lx's, but I have most of the htp's and some hemp 1400's. How far apart should the wicks be when you double them? I am using Ecosoya pure soy and 9% FO. Any help is very appreciated!!!
Oh yeah the jar is @3 3/4 in at the widest point.

I dont know if it is just the htp 83's or if they are too small. On my second burn after about 3 hours I have almost no flame. I'm afraid to use 2 93's bc thejar got a little hot with these in the beginning. Should I try a different size or a different type altogether?
Please give me input!!!
Thanks

Ecosoya pure soy. I pay 1.53 per lb delivered. There are no suppliers even remotely close to me.

IMO You may need to let the wax sit ,Without FO, until it is almost to pouring temp before adding the FO. What temp are you adding FO and what temp are you pouring?
