  1. I use it in my candles and I think it smells pretty good. I can smell the vanilla and the pear. I have never tried to make soaps, so I don't know how it would smell there. Maybe you got a bad bottle of F/O?
  2. I have ordered from about 5 or 6 suppliers, and have never had to supply a tax number. I have ordered from CanWax, VillageCraft, LyndenHouse, Wick Your Wax North and Nature's Garden in Ohio.
  3. Ok thank you. I will check those out!
  4. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a cucumber mint FO out there anywhere? Thanks!!
  5. Ok. Thanks for all the suggestions. I am going to try a few, also, I am going to see what Canada Post suggests, and I will also check into shipping with Fed Ex. I may have to put out a bit extra if I want to build a customer base and keep customers happy, lol.
  6. Ok thanks. Someone is Texas wants me to send them som e votives and tealights, and I'm kinda worried now. I am in SK, Canada, and it is supposed to be over 100*F here all week....what's it gonna be like there? Lol. I think i will email the lady and ask her if it's alright if I wait to ship the package until next Monday because of the holidays this week which will slow down the shipping.
  7. But ya have to admit...smashing that wax on the pavement really does help work out those pent up frustrations. Very therapeutic.
  8. Hi. I sent some tealights to someone a couple weeks ago, and was informed that some of them had melted. I had sent them via Canada Post to the US...Virginia. Are there any suggestions on what I can do to prevernt this from happening in the future?
  9. I have also dealt with CanWax, and find that SJ (SaraJane) is more than fair. I tend to order more from LyndenHouse though because I am in SK and Lynden House is closest to me (AB), where as any other supplier, CanWax, Village Craft, Wick Your Wax, are all on the opposite side of the country, therefoe shipping costs more and takes longer. Oh how I wish I had a supplier closer than 5 hours away, lol.
  10. Lol. I honestly don't think I have ever bought q tips, except in small quantities. I scoffed some from my mom today anyways, lol. So I did the baggie test with 1 part lemon and 2 parts strawberry....i dunno. I think the lemon smells kinda Javexy to begin with, lol. I might just make a batch of votives and see how it smells when burning. I think that I will definitely put in an order for this scent next time I order though, lol.
  11. I'm just curious.....how do you pour the wax when using a Presto Pot? I use the double boiler method. But what I have been doing is using an old deep fryer. I put the water in there, and then i set the temp to what I want, and then I just place the pouring pot with wax in the water.
  12. Thanks for the link. Raspberry sounds interesting! I might have to try that. Maybe I'll try both. I'll do the q-tip test...but first I need to go buy some Q-tips, lol.
  13. I was wondering how to make this? Do I mix 1 part lemon, and 2 parts strawberry?
  14. Thanks for all the suggestions! I am off to wick them now.
  15. I used a wick pin for a 3x6 pillar I made, and then I dipped the cotton braid wick I had in some wax to make it easier to insert through the hole. What I am wondering is....how do I affix the wick to the bottom if the pillar so that it stays put?
  16. Hiya. I was wondering what you all do to shine up your pillar candles, and votives too, after ypu've made them. Mine are all full of fingerprints and rub marks and stuff.
  17. Yup, I knew that, lol. What I meant was pouring the whole candle, the first pour at 175. I am going to try a new pillar today and see how it turns out.
  18. I am using 4625 Complete Pillar Paraffin. I did remelt it and tried again, and it was alot better, but there was still a few bubbles and indents. I am going to try another pillar tomorrow without adding anything, like I should have done the 1st time, lol. About the dye block...yes...I thought it was alot too, It was #2 pink dye block from CanWax, and even with 1/2 the block, it is still only about a medium pink. I think I will stick to my liquid dye, but I have heartd it can make the candles smell funny, so I dunno, lol. i am paranoid to pour too cool because I am worried about jump lines, but maybe I will try pouring at 175 tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for the help everyone, and I'll let you know what happens with the next one.
  19. Ok great! This was also my first time using mold release. So what do I use the mold release for then? My round pillars usually turn out good, and I never used any additives with them, I should have just left well enough alone, lol.
  20. Ahhhh!! Ok...see? This is the 1st time that I have warmed the mold, because the last pillar I made, it ended up looking rustic, lol. But that was a chunk pillar. So it will be ok to melt down the pillar and try again?
  21. Ooh ooh! Can you send them to me too please?
  22. I think the indents/pockmarks are what were air bubbles. Because some of the marks still have the air bubble in them, lol. What would cause all the air bubbles?
  23. I made a square watermelon pillar last night. It is the first time I have made a square pillar. I have made about 4 or 5 round pillars already. Now...I used 1 lb of complete pillar wax, and I added a little more than 1/4 tsp vybar and 1 teaspoon of mold release. I used 1 oz scent, and 1/2 block of pink dye. I heated the mold to about 180 - 190 *F before I poured and I did the first pour at about 190*F. After I poured it, I tapped the sides LOTS. I then put it in the oven to let it cool slowly. After it was about halfway cooled, I left it on the counter. Ok....now my problem, lol. I have some little air bubbles on the sides, which most look like indents now. THe bottom 1/4 of the candle has the most air bubbles, and the very bootm (which is the top of the candle) is full of them. What did I do wrong, and what should I do differently next time? I am going to melt this one down and try it again.
  24. I've been test burning a 16 oz canning jar (wide mouth) using HTP 83 wick. There is about 1/3 of it left and it has been burning rather nicely with a good scent throw and about a 1/2 inch melt pool after a couple of hours.
