The problem is I couldn't part with many of my FO's, no matter that I've had some for years and still haven't used them.

Smells are free though! My grandchildren and great grandchildren and great niece like to sniff the oils in my cabinets.

Oh I bet they have fun!! My daughter is 27 and is like a kid when I get an order in!

  2. Give them a call and see if they can help you. I had a great phone experience with them about a month ago. No waiting usually and the lady really helped me with everything I wanted to know. If you have to leave a voicemail, they'll return your call. In fact, my questions were actually by email and she called me to answer them in person!

  3. Just wanted to see how much everyone uses! I'll be coloring my wax with regular liquid dye and only adding mica for a little shimmer. For this particular application when you're not trying to actually color it with the mica, how much per pound or per 8oz do you use for a good shimmer?

Just trying to figure out how much I should buy. Hoping to get away with the 1oz size since it jumps from 1oz to 4oz at Mad Micas. Plus we'll...I'm clueless on how much to use! 🤣

No worries. Experimentation is good. Learning a new wax is fun. I always advocate breaking rules, then figuring out what the rule’s *intent* is.

with palm the load limits were written long before all the changes to the fragrance components. Before the whole “phthalates bad” movement. And before the three separate lab fires overseas that toppled all of us for a long g while.

If we’ve all learned one lesson in the last volatile half decade it’s that the rules change based on market conditions.

stability testing is super important for ALL products. How many of us have learned the hard way about soy wax in hot weather? Stability testing is a lesson all to itself.

so push the envelope. Break the envelope. And have fun. Learn something. Share. Repeat. Sometimes it os our fails that teach the best lessons that help us survive the market upheavals.

That experiment was just for fun. But I am a hands-on type of woman and that's the easiest way I e always been able to learn. If you don't make mistakes, you can't learn how to correct them. I guess that goes for everything - including life itself. Even though I have experience, that was 20 years ago. It's a whole new world now, and I felt like I was starting all over again when I started again a year ago. Plus I'm going from candles to melts and it was still a whirlwind for me with the wax and FO's. I don't have the patience to throw in wick testing. For now...maybe later in the game. Just focusing on making the best melts I can. It's a huge bonus that I absolutely love and enjoy it! I'm in my element when I whip out my wax and oils. It relaxes me and takes me to my happy place - "The Zen Zone." Even with all the aggravations, I'm still very focused and just chill.

Nono, i want to squeeze the wax through a nozzle, wax should harden and i should be able to squeeze another layer on top so it would stay in shape and harden also. On the picture you can see the flow i need from the nozzle, and right after it is squeezed it should harden so i can add another layer on top and it would harden also, and so on,

    73A53BB2-238C-49D0-BF33-F8B3D465B0F9.jpeg

Another question. Are you going to need to use attachments or have it come out of the nozzle with a certain shape, like in the pic you just posted? Or would it be just a typical drizzle? If you don't need anything but a typical drizzle, you can still use your regular wax and just have it cooled off just enough to do the drizzle. Then it would harden like what your wax usually does and you're ready for the next layer. But something's telling me that's not it.

So are you looking for a wax with icing consistency that will harden even more after it's piped out with whatever you're using? I'm sorry for so many questions but I'm still trying to wrap my head around what you're trying to do. Sounds like you might be wanting a whipped wax. You can work with it just like you would icing, but unless someone else knows something more - it wouldn't harden up any more than what it is once you finish piping it. It'll still be firm enough to do your layers and whatever else though. If that's what you're looking for, we can call on someone who does whipped wax to try to help you. I don't do whipped, but lots of members on here do.

I wasn’t skimming. It really depends.  I could say I got it to hold 50% and someone would go off and do it thinking it is ok for all palm. Just because it seems stable in your home does not mean it stays that way with changes to ambient conditions. To better test, perform a series of  freeze/thaw tests.

I have received overscented palm products that were fine by the makers standards that arrived in my mailbox seeping fragrance all over my mail, and everyone else’s on that mail truck. The post office was NOT happy to have contaminated mail.

like I wrote, every fraction of palm is different.  Every fraction handles changes to humidity and temp differently.  The way the product was made makes a difference. not many people understand how different the palm fractions perform. Feather palm is 5601-a palm wax for tapers and pillars.  It holds a different amount reliably than 5301-a for containers and very differently from 5801-a for pillars.

Ok...it was just a silly experiment. I'm not crazy enough to really use that much. But I see what you're saying about giving others ideas. Please delete this thread for me. I definitely don't wanna do that!

  7. I misunderstood. I thought you said you were looking for a wax that was NOT burnable. Ok let me ask a couple of questions. Where are you located. I'm still confused on what you're trying to do. What exactly are you making? Just trying to figure out what you're making and why a typical candle wax wouldn't work. At first it sounded like you were trying to make a candle or melts with drizzle. But now I don't know. I'll be around here for a while so I'll try to answer back ASAP!

It depends on the palm.  Each type is distilled from a different fraction of the palm fruit, and is processed slightly differently. It can be anywhere from 3%-6% with 5-6% being the norm.  Of course the FO itself plays a part depending on its additives and aromachemical recipe.

with palm wax candles, most never need more than 3-5% to make a strongly scented, clean burning candle.  Using it as a melt is challenging as it’s not really designed for that use.

Nah TT...I know what the recommendations are lol. I was asking people what was the most they ever tried successfully. Just a curiosity thing after my lil experiment. Slow down...stop skimming...and read. 🤣😂🤣

I make palm candles, not melts.  There was one FO I tried at 15% and there was seepage.  I cut down to 12% and that works.  It may be the paraffin in your melts that is helping with that.

No paraffin. I make both separately. Just straight feather palm is what I was asking about. Just a curiosity over my lil experiment 🤣

Good to have you back.  I hadn't been on in a few years, and now I don't know anyone.  Wondering where they have all gone.

I'm fairly new here - less than a year. But after reading 15+ years of posts, it seems like I've gotten to know a lot of the members from years back that I don't see anymore. I would love to see some of those reappear! One in particular that I grew to absolutely adore just by her posts won't be able to be with us.... 😥 But since y'all are slowly coming back, maybe I'll get to finally meet a few!

Rosie, this is Bekka. So much has happened since we last spoke and I lost your contact information. I have thought of you and Tony many times and done searches to try to connect with you again. Without success. Did a search today and found this recent message from you! We also moved from our old address but still live in the same county, just out in the country now. My phone number is different. Would love to talk to you again. Huggs

Bekka...that comment was from 2018. You can check their profile though and see when they were last active! 😃

  12. What's the highest percentage of FO have you ever tried that was successful with no seepage after some time passed?

Ok...I make melts in paraffin and in Palm. I know the max percentage is 5 or 6%. I made some in 6 and some in 8. Well the oils I tested didn't make the cut with longevity, but there was one that my daughter and I both LOVED. So I decided to make a small batch just for us and try 10%. Then I had one of those "Hold my beer!" moments and decided just for my own curiosity to try 15%! Well 2 months later the melts are still sitting pretty with no sign of seepage whatsoever. Idk what to say. I'm floored!

  13. I had trouble with a wax I tried from Aztec. Ended up being "their brand of IGI" like TallTayl mentioned. 4633. Had the consistency of 4630, if not softer. Could not use it in my formula at all. I reordered from my original place, and it was a little bit different - bit doable with a couple of percentage adjustments. I hope one of the suggestions TT gave you helps you salvage that lot....

Hi @Scented. I know this is an extremely old post, but I wanted to see what you ended up thinking about Transcendence FO?  I am going to be placing another order and have never tried their Mulberry & Moonbeams or their Neroli De La Luna.  Or many others for all that matter.  I know I love their sultry angel, vanilla voodoo, peony white tea, orange tea & crumpets, melon fig & apricot, cherished, crushed strawberry rhubarb and a handful of  others.  If you or anyone else has any suggestions from Candle Cocoon, I would love to hear!  Thanks so much!  😇

That's my next place to order from! As far as the good throwers in your melts, how long did they last?

Totally agree except for one recent caveat- @bfroberts convinced me to try mottling wax. I am having a little fun playing with it just for me.

@ErronB sent me a sample of cbl129 that worked extremely well in my 9 oz jar. Then, of course, the next lot was very different 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Yeah... Remember my "brains" pictures of my 4794 big bloopers? Same thing is happening with CBL 129. They're getting a heavy hand with that Vybar!!!

  16. Hi everyone! In the near future I'll be listing my melts on Etsy. I've hears pros and cons about how to list shipping. Some say they get more sales by including shipping in the cost and offering "free shipping." Others list the shipping costs separately.

I'd like to hear your opinions! Which way do you find works best as a seller. And if you're also a buyer, which one stands out more to you? I'm the type of person that figures out total cost no matter how it's displayed, but I know a lot of people don't do that. Some do jump on free shipping. So what's your take on this subject?

It drives me crazy! 4625 alone doesn't smudge but it flakes and I can't stand that either LOL! It seems like it depends on the scents too because I have some shapes that never flake or smudge and then others in the same wax that will do one or the other at least a little bit. 4786 doesn't smudge much either. I don't know why it bothers me but it does.

It bothers you because it looks nasty!! Imagine a Little Debbie snack cake in a store and someone smashed half of it down with their fingers and it smears all over the package. THAT is what it reminds me of!
