  1. I recently went to a bridal shower(my brothers fiance, whom i never met)Aside from the regular gift I brought her, I made a white pillar, dressed it up with lace, and two other girly colored ones, put them in a basket and she loved them! I'd say make a couple different ones. If they smell great and look pretty, she'll probably love them no matter what color. And I think a handmade gift is always better than a store bought one.
  2. Hey everyone! Well I was up all night making these.Their scented Sandalwood, tuscan herb and musk. These fluted molds are becoming my favorites........Thank you for looking!
  3. I'm a bit of a newbie here, so i dont really know how much help i can be, But I've gone through about 70 different scents or so. Not your particular scent though. And I have had all of them throw eventually. Sometimes if the first try didnt throw, i'd up the fragrence load, change additives, and then they'd throw, but usually not very strongly. Some scents just wont throw because of your additives, the type of paraffin and yes there are just some bad scents out there. You just gotta play around until you get the right combo. I have 3 different waxes I use and can always get it to throw eventually. But I believe you can get all scents to throw in paraffin.
  4. That is a very pretty candle. Love the lace. Lilacs are my favorite! everytime I smell that scent, I just melt...
  5. Thanks everyone! My boyfriend thinks their hideous, and they may be, but I'm just super excited I achieved a tilted layer and that my middle layer mottled! I always have trouble with mottling...
  6. You could make a white one, then maybe use candle paint. I've never tried paint, so i dont know how well it works....Or maybe to tilted red/white/blue. That would look pretty neat if you ask me. Sorry, I'm not of much help here....
  7. SO Cute!! The fish are adorable!!!
  8. Hey everybody! ok, I've been working hard trying to achieve a rustic/mottled tilted layer pillar, and Finally, here it is! My first tilted too! scented raspberry....thanks for looking!
  9. Those look great! that blue fuzzy stuff is adorable!
  10. Your so lucky to live that close to your supplier! Sometimes I pay just as much for shipping as I do for the products I order.
  11. I agree, a closeup would be nice. Very beautiful! I bet that takes a long time to do, but worth it, it's very cute!
  12. Darn, and the "heat gunned" containers now have even more wet spots than before now that they've sat.....When I do layers I will either use one pot, pour the color, let it cool about 45 min, then add more dye and pour another darker layer or i use 2 or 3 different pots if doing different colors. but bacically wai 30-45 min. between pours.
  13. Finally got a heat gun (it has so many great uses) Except, I poured a few jars, then noticed a few bubbles and a wet spot in the bottom corner. Used my heat gun on it and then tons of little bubbles appeared there. so i kept going with the heat and they eventually rose to the top and went away but now my layered colors are all blended. Did I misuse it or are you supposed to only use it on solid containers and make the bubbles rise to the top???
  14. ok, did the iron thing, all the wax is up, now i'm left with the stain of red dye, oxy-clean is starting to get it up. Thanks for your input. Guess I'll be buying a bigger rug to go under my work table.
  15. Hey everyone, I need some help! I just emptied my extra wax from the pour pot into a cup, then bam! hit it with my arm and wax went everywhere on the tan carpet. of course it had to be red, and I rent so this is a real problem...Does anyone have any tried and true ways of getting it up quickly???? my boyfriend will be home later and will pitch a fit if he sees this! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  16. I just returned from my local Michaels store in shock. They've raised their price on 11 lb. slabs of wax from 14.99 to 29.99! I've just been using Yaleys premium wax, But It's been working great. But now that it costs so much I was planning on ordering from Peaks. The 1343 Paraffin wax. Since I pretty much do only rustics and add all my own additives, I'm thinking this would be the best wax, right? My question is, Do i need to re-test all my scent/color/fragrence combos with this new wax? Since it's pure paraffin and yaleys is supposed to be as well. Thanks!
  17. I just got this mold, not sure if I like rustics in it...And the mold must be a little bent or uneven because this thing would not budge, had to use the hairdryer to get it out....Scented sandalwood. Thanks for looking!
  18. wow, those are horrible! I sometimes feel like giving up when I go into some pretty big name stores and see beautiful candles priced very cheap. But then I buy one, burn it, and it burns like crap! Then I feel so much better about my candles knowing that all my hard work pays off because they burn perfectly. So many people only care about getting quick money and not about offering something of great quality.
  19. Thank you so much everyone!!! I poured a few more of my first layered rustics last night. But I'm having problems getting the layers even(in the pic the layers are uneven) It's so hard to tell whats exactly half in the mold... does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the 2 layers exactly even?? Thanks again for looking, you guys are great!!
  20. What do you think? Not leveled or wicked yet....Used Yaleys premium wax with 2 tbs stearic...Scented Sunflower
  21. I use Clean Cotton Scent from Lone Star Candle Supply...It smells amazing, kind of like dryer sheets, and you dont have to use that much to get a strong scent throw.
