LOL I hear your pain-one thing I have learned the hard way using select shades is don't pay attention to the color!! Just follow the chart, I don't know how many times I've colored soap and thought oh sh*t that doesn't look anything like the chart color only to check on it the next day and see it's morphed into totally different color.

I usually add sugar to my lye water, so should I omit that if I decide to use honey or keep the sugar and add the honey- or does it even make a difference if I use one or the other, sounds like they both do the same thing? Honey does add appeal to the labeling vs sugar I think............

Firstbatch??!! Geezus those swirls look awesome-that can't be your FIRST batch!

I am new to stamping also, my last batch of soap that I stamped turned out pretty good, I am thinking that earlier is better. I took it out of the mold, and cut & stamped the next day after making it. I used a mallet and gave a couple of firm taps-not to hard, not to soft. Worked great, didn't mash up the tops of my soap, etc. Like they say practice makes perfect, lol. HTH.

I've been using 1 T per lb of oils.
ditto that.

for those of you that add honey to your soap, what does it add to the soap? I've been wanting to add either milk or honey but can't decide which:undecided .

Kimberly- You stamp the next day? I've only stamped a few times on some bars that were a few weeks old, oops. Next batch of soap I make I'll stamp the next day!!
Candybee- You ain't kidding, you should see the first few bars I stamped.:lipsrseal

Yep, I discovered that too. Sigh.....pays to not only read the directions, but follow them also.
If you drink crystal light, save the tiny cups the powder comes in - good for mixing the colors.
What a great tip, sheesh now why didn't I think of that-do you have any idea how many of those I have thrown away!!! :rolleyes2

How does everyone stamp their soaps? I've been using a rubber mallet and the tops of my soap are textured-I've noticed they are either getting flattened a bit or little cracks in them. Is there a trick to doing this successfully?

Good ol'plain white vinegar works good to relieve sunburn pain also(smells funky though, lol).

Some of the bars are months old and I just noticed they are sweating up a storm. Is CP supposed to sweat? I know MP did horribly when I tried it, but I've never had this happen before. I have them sitting in front of a fan right now, if I dry them up and package them will they be ok? I am so bummed.....

It's listed as the preservative in a recipe that I want to try for cream soap (hence posting it in the soap section-oops my bad). I guess I'll go with what the recipe says (optiphen), I was placing an order with WSP & they only had the optiphen plus so I was hoping I could get everything at one place & save on shipping.

Can someone explain the difference between the two, I have read and re-read info on both of them and they both seem to be the same?- I am confused.

Well the shower went well, here's some pics....sorry the pics are so big,:embarasse .

Funny how two little words makes a world of difference. While I agree that lotions and potions oh my is too close for comfort, it still doesn't sound as good as lotions and potions and soaps oh my!
-
I wanted to go cuz it's just too close to me to pass up but unfortunately I'm having a baby shower for my daughter the same day.
-
TFF, cuz that's exactly what mine smelled like!!! Yuppers, Strawberry Margarita from Bittercreek-phew and I thought there was something wrong with my sniffer cuz I wasn't smelling anything remotely close to strawberry, 100% playdoh smell.

Hey you have the same countertop as me. Soap looks good too!
-
Yup ditto that also, seems to have disappeared around here also.

That just happened to me too, dammi! Only they took out 2 mortgage payments and I ended up with $100.00 worth of overdraft fees, you bet your butt I threw a hissy fit(I was panicing big time) and they are supposed to send me a check for the one payment and the overdraft fees.
-
I use booth labelsbythe sheet & onlinelabels. Both are very good, never had any problems, and onlinelabels will send you free sample sheets to try.

Couldn't you just slice the offending parts off with a veggie peeler or a knife? I try to be pretty scrupulous about where I put my soap, it's not worth the added aggravation.
Yup, I just haven't had a chance to, but alas I learned my lesson dammit, lol.

I set some soap bars on a old dresser-had been stained yrs ago- went to pick up the soap(not sure how long they were sitting there a few wks maybe) and had to sorta peel them off-now the soaps have nasty brown spots... grrrrr:angry2: !

Girls are more fun to dress, but boys are easier - count your blessings! (I have one of each).
OMG- isn't THAT the truth!! I have two girls and one boy and he'd wear a garbage bag without a complaint, the girls on the other hand..........

How does Soap Central sound? Not sure if it's already taken, when I google it alls I come up with is soap opera related hits, lol. I am aiming for a short catchy name and bold, loud labels, lol.
