I'm new to candlemaking and I have a wicking question that I hope someone could help me with. I'm using the big Madison Jars from YES candle supply and I'm so close to getting them just right, but I need some advice from all you experts. I use EZ SOY, RRD wicks (currently using RRD34), double wicking, no color and 1 oz. fo pp of wax. I'm finding that I get a good burn, but I'm concerned that maybe it is burning too hot. I think it burns quicker than it's supposed to and when it gets to the bottom of the candle the jar gets pretty hot with a little soot on the top of the jar. Does it sound like the wick is too hot? Should I go down to the next lowest size in RRD, should I single wick or should I change wicks altogether? Thanks for all your help!!!
