  3. I have been enjoying reading this thread...knowing absloutely nothing about rubbing candle wax on your body does not sound like something I would even consider no matter HOW 'in' it may be....sounds like a law suit waiting to happen..........NOOOOOOO thanks...I'll pass...not enough insurance in this country to make me want to chance that one!
  4. Ahhhh Presto Griddle....THAT is what I was missing.....thanks ladies!!!
  5. When you do, tell her that Jody sent you her way
  6. I'm still new at this myself and have tried to have candles out for sale without lids and just a very high grade plastic wrap over top of the candle...nope they wanted a 'real lid' as one customer put it to me...so 'real lids' are what they get!
  7. I have been reading this thread and was interested in what this thread that Candle Man had mentioned but when I clicked on it, it said sorry no matches...I wanted to know what sort of heat source was being used...I just now getting into making pillars and with the holiday season coming up I want to experiment now so I have at least some kind of success in making pillars:embarasse
  8. You may also want to check candle coccoon....I just got 4 cases of them from her...great young lady to work with...I just can never get the name spelled correctly!:embarasse She also has 2 different types of lids that they can come with. Forgot to add she is in Madison WI
  9. By far the best one I have worked with is Candle Cocoon...Lyschell is a delightful young lady that know her stuff when it comes to beeswax and soy wax...her brand of FO's and the other line of FO's she carries Scent Event kicks butt...she is a quick shipper, answers your questions lightning fast, and is a real joy to work with!
  10. After reading this thread I was curious and wanted to see where the nearest HL was to me.... closest one to me is several hours away in Ohio!!! I do have a Michaels, but the price for their wax is horrendous!!! I would be better off getting it at Pat Catans for 14.95 for a 11 lb slab...their wax has a MP of 141 so if I needed it at least theya re close enough it would not break me to go get it
  11. When you get your heat gun from Wal MArt get a Wagner....it has all the settings you need...its where I got mine...its also the least expensive place to get it too;)
  12. I have just finished making a few electric candles, and they turned out pretty well. I have checked the forum and could not find any info on what kind of label to put on these. Obviously they cant go out the door without one, but I do not have a clue as to what the 'correct' wording would be. Any help here would be appreciated!
  13. I have had a great amount of success with my firestarters at fleamarkets and a couple of my wholesale accounts. Make sure you have a 'warning/info lable on them. I only used my excess wax and not wood shavings, tho.
  14. Welcome to the wonderful world of candles!!! Well I have finally settled on several waxes...a mix of J223 and C-3 for containers...not very many wet spots and great scent throw...Astrolight PQ for pillars and votives...and 6228 for my tarts...after trying the Astrolite and 6228 in all 3 catagories I found that the above works best for me... If you have a laundry room.... wellllll....it wont be that for long (dont ask me how I know;) )
  15. I have been using Palm 2 wax for my tarts and votives but just recently switched to Astrolite Q...love it!!!
  16. Right now I am using the white labels...2 x 4 but the background is a nice muted blue
  17. Great Job!!! Liked the way you stacked them
  18. I'm heading there tomorrow...wooohooo thanks for the FYI:D
  19. I goofed...it is 6228...and I found the info I needed...and you were in the right ball park with pouring too hot...I found out I was...thanks!
  20. I just got two slabs and tried it out last night and I kept getting bubbles...and bubbles...Im heating it to 180 and using CC's Ginger Peach at 1 oz pp...I repoured this morning...and still BUBBLES!!!! Help!!!!!
  21. What about mixing yellow beeswax with parafin 141 and using it for container wax? I picked up some of both a few months ago and have thought about using it to make rolled votives (not sure if that is the correct term...rolling out in sheets and cutting them into votives) but it might be fun to see if they could work together in a jar...and what kind of wick would you need?
  22. I went to the website and yikes:rolleyes2 the prices...I went to our craft store (Pat Catans) and bought a set of 12 acrylic paints, brushes and brush soap(who would have thought of brush soap!) for the price they want for 12 colors!!! Just did a heart candle and stencle painted it...the customer loved it!
  23. I bought a couple of these as well and triple wicked them only I used RRD 34's and used a blend of J223/Soy-125...the 34's were not strong enough so I wicked up to a 50 and it worked well.
