Now say goodbye to all your money! :laugh2:

Forget to mentioned that im using soy.
I don't use pure soy but a 70/30 blend and GL's Indonesian Teak throws like crazy in it. Really don't think you can go wrong with it. JMO though.
-
Indonesian Teak from GreenLeaf is awesome. I highly recommend it.

Looks awesome, can't wait to see the cut pics.:highfive:

.Are you looking for a wood mold? Do you want a log mold or a slab? Let me know, as I can help.I tried PM'ng you but was unable. I'm interested in your soapmolds.
-
Thanks for the replies. Off to order PKO and a book, lol. Thanks for the links Darwin.
-
I'm brand new to making CP and am trying to learn all I can but don't really understand all the numbers yet in soapcalc so I'm wondering if I sub Palm Oil for PKO how much of an effect it would have on the end result.
-
I think your booth looks great! Sorry about the sales.
-
Good job Christina! I like your mold too, I just ordered one similar to that last night.

Hmmm. Just found this thread after experiencing this happen. I never did get it completely smooth and wasn't sure what to do so I just went ahead and molded it. I'm guessing I'll have a log of crappy soap tomorrow when I take it out.
-
Well, I'm pretty sure I just made the fugliest batch of soap in the world.
I used 1/2 a teaspoon which evidently is going to have been way too much. We'll see tomorrow.
Thanks for the reply though. I'll have a starting point for batch #3

I'm at it again and want to color the main batch of 3lbs of oil a med brown. I know weird, but work with me here. I have brown oxide so how much do you think I should use for that minus the cup that I'm using for a swirl?
TIA

So MB, did ya make it yet? What's on tap for batch #3?
LoL No not yet. Too much stuff going on. Probably tomorrow morning. Batch #3 is already planned though. It is going to be Mambo as soon as I get my order from Brenda. Damn this is addicting, can't say I wasn't warned though.

Thanks Carol. Would explain why it isn't near strong enough then. I just didn't want to fry anyones skin off when they tried it. Especially mine.
-
Woohoo! You did it! Looks like REAL SOAP! LOL Way to go! Doin' the Happy MasterSoapmaker Dance with ya. It goes a little something like this: *getdown*
Now of course I need to check a bar out personally to make sure you did it right. Send sample to AJ, 124 Main St., for immediate analysis.
That is about the exact dance I did. :laugh2: LMFAO
This is scented Vanilla Lavender. I don't think it's strong enough though. Never could find anywhere that told me the appropriate % of FO to use. I've read anywhere from .5 to 1.5 oz per lb. So to be on the safe side I used 1 oz for a 3 lb batch.
-
Made this yesterday using AJ's beginners soap recipe. Pretty pleased with the way it turned out except for a problem with the dye in the swirl blending all the way I think it turned out pretty well. My cutting skills obviously need a little work too. Might need to invest in a soap cutter. :laugh2:

Thank you for the quick responses ladies. Much appreciated. Sure glad I have an addictive personality so I have something else to throw my money at. Another one gets bitten by the soap bug.

With my first batch of CP under my belt Mrs MB wants me to do a batch of HP so she can try the soap while the CP batch cures. I don't have any individual molds so I'm wondering if I can just put the whole batch into the log mold and then cut like you would a CP batch? Seems like it should work but figured I would ask first before ruining a batch.
TIA

I used the first recipe today to make my first batch EVER. I was so frigging nervous about the lye when I was trying to scoop some out my hand was shaking so bad it was throwing lye everywhere. :laugh2: Even with lye flying about I didn't go blind or burn myself so don't stress. Yeah you have to be careful but just don't drink it or use the solution as eye drops and you'll be fine.
-
No that is correct. The concave tops have a much better look to the finished product in my opinion.

I use the CB-10 from Swans and love it. Beatiful pillars as long as you're doing solid colors or leaving them uncolored. Can't do marbles in them etc. It is a para-soy blend from CalWax.

Thanks Henry, appreciate it.

:tiptoe: Not trying to hijack your thread but wondering where to get sample packs of LX's and CD's. I've finally ventured into container candles and the ECO's and HTP's aren't cutting it for me.
TIA
Chris
If you're thinking of using E-Fax...think again...

Had the exact same experience trying to cancel AOL. Never thought about recording the call though. The agents acted like they'd get fired if you actually cancelled instead of taking free months of internet.
