  1. Looks beautiful! Hurry up and take a pic, cause in a week it will look like a bar of chocolate Im betting. I did the same batch for the V-day swap I hosted. Same mold, same pink swirls. Turned DARK brown. I still love it though! Pink sugar is sooooo yummy! Great swirl :)

Yup! I've got a bar of it. Smells great but looks like chocolate. ;)

  2. very very informative tutorial...thank you. I have one question...and I'm not trying to start anything here...but in your post you showed a picture of a marathon burn and said that "This is what I woke up to.".....tell me you didn't go to sleep and leave your candle unattended????

It wasn't unattended. They were sleeping right next to it. Much different.:P

  3. I use primarily GL's oils and they are all great!! Quite honestly there are only a few I've been disappointed in and thats only because I personally didn't care for the scent. This isn't even touching on the fact that Brenda has awesome customer service. She will help you as much as she can to solve any problems you may experience using her products though quite honestly you shouldn't have any problems. Give them a try and I think you'll be pleased. My recommends are the Indo Teak, Antahala Vanilla and the Coconut Vanilla. My list goes on and on but definitely try those three.

ETA; You don't need to use 1.5 oz per lb on these oils. A few maybe but none I've tested.

  4. Like Steph said. I think there are markets for both. If your market is mostly the health conscious you'll find that more natural looking bars are going to sell. If you're in an area that doesn't care that much you'll see more of the brightly colored, whimsical soaps sell. JMO though.

  5. I made a few batches of soap using quietgirls recipe about 3 weeks ago. They all look great except for one. I used Antahala Vanilla from GL and when I sliced up a bar of it, it looks like a junior mint. It discolored to the look of dark fudge on the outside but on the inside it's a creamy mint color. Is this normal stuff for a vanilla? I do know Vanilla's tend to discolor but I really expected it go all the way through, not a crispy chocolate shell with a creamy white center. :undecided

  6. I had a similar situation although I was the sender and it did show as delivered but the intended reciepient never recieved it. I went round and round with the Post Office and they told me there was nothing they could do since there was no signature required and no insurance. The package showed up several days later but the contents were ruined. They were pillars and apparently had sat in a truck for days in the hot Texas sun. Now I make sure I require a signature. At least then you know who signed for it.

  7. Looks like I'll be ordering some sample zincs also. Do they burn faster out or down? I was thinking it's the wax that burns deep and didn't have so much to do with the wicks, but would appreciate more info on the zincs. Thanks...

It is the wax that tends to burn down than out. Every series of wicks I've tried on this wax has the same result as far as depth of burn goes.
