  1. I’ve been using CD wicks with 6006 in my 9oz straights, so far the throw has been great and not really experiencing any soot. I’ve been wicking to leave some hang up on the first half of the candle. Right towards the middle of the candle, the flame gets sort of small, Im thinking maybe the wax cling on the walls of the vessel is melting and the wicks trying to catch up. The flame stays small for a few burns during the middle of the candle, and once all the cling catches up and melts down, the flame returns to normal throughout the rest of the candle. Would you guys wick up? Or call this a success? Don’t want too weak of a flame. It’s about a half inch tall flame
  2. I’ve been conducting burn tests on a 2.75 inch diameter jar, using 4 hour intervals. Should I be doing 3 hour intervals instead? What’s everyone’s general ruling on burn times for testing, according to container diameter?
  3. I just started this past year so can’t speak on its original state but I will say I don’t feel like zincs are strong enough, some fragrances really make the flame struggle and stay low, I ordered both Eco and Premier sample packs, gonna give these candles 10 more days then rip into them. You’re Bonnie from the Facebook candle group aren’t you? 😝🤓
  4. I think CS recommends an Eco 2 in a 9oz flint jar. You’re testing the spiral wicks form wooden wick? How are they coming along? I’ve been curious to give those a shot!
  5. Yes the mushrooming can get bad, I had originally started off testing with an 18 per recommendation and wow, huge shrooms. 6006 is a monster
  6. I have some LX’s too but I feel like the 14 is almost still too much sometimes? Mushrooming large bouncing flame etc.
  7. Funny you say that, I literally was having to keep the wicks 1/2 in long on the first burn just to get a decent sized flame in the beginning, trimming to 1/4 left me with a PUNY little flame that took a long time to grow to anything substantial enough in size. I’m hoping premiers will be a better choice, more sizes to “fine tune”.
  8. I just made some wick less testers that I’m gonna let sit for 2 weeks. Ordered premier and eco sample packs. Hoping I can get this figured out!
  9. I have not yet, I think I’m going to order a Premier sample pack from Flaming Candle though! I’m not sure what else to try
  10. Currently trying to move from zincs to HTP, not a fan of zincs for various reasons. Im using a 9oz straight side jar and using 8% fragrance load. I’ve gotten all the way down to an HTP52 and still having large flames in the beginning of the burn that eventually mushroom and turn into a much smaller flame. Some fragrances more prone than others. For instance, Candle Sciences Clean Cotton and Lovespell seem to do relatively well, melt pool and throw is satisfactory and not much mushrooming, though the flame is a little high towards the end of 4 hour burns, then on the other hand, Caribbean teakwood has a high flame throughout that eventually mushrooms and decreases in size. Should I wick down even further from a 52? I figured with this fragrance being a heavy one, I’d have to wick up? So confused. These small HTP’s are generally for tiny votive like candles and still seem to be too much for 6006.
  11. Yes I think if I left it Untrimmed it would get to a full melt pool within the next burn, when trimming, it takes a few more burns. I wish everyone just knew to trim and did it. Sigh...
  12. Smells pretty great! I Feel like I may get a slightly better throw with HTP’s, but I don’t like the soot, curling, large flames 🤦🏻‍♂️
  13. Does this look like an acceptable amount of cling for a 1st 4 hour burn? I thought it was but someone on Facebook said it looked under wicked and made me second guess myself 🤦🏻‍♂️ Said I was relying on the warmth of the jar to melt the outer ring of wax instead of the flame/wick. I thought both of those things went hand in hand? Confused. Will post a pic of the hardened wax once it solidifies. This is also 6006 with a zinc 44-28-18, Caribbean teakwood fragrance
  14. I actually saw your comment on his video. He did not seem pleased at all by your inquiry 😂 That winning candle looked terrible!
  15. Yeah I’ve seen those guides, I use a 52 or 62 in joy wax and 6006. Guess I’ll probably have to bump up to a 73 or 83 with 4630
  16. Slightly under, about 2.88 outer diameter, less inside diameter
  17. I plan to test zinc last. Currently using it in 6006 and it's okay but hate the absolute need to trim them and the mushrooming. With 4630, do you think an HTP 52 would be a good place to start testing in a 9 ounce straight side?
  18. Would you say a 44-28 or 44-32 work in the flint jar with 4630? Do you also cure 4630 for two weeks?
  19. I’m hoping they’ll work well in wax. Cannot beat free shipping!
  20. If only there were more knowledgable folks like you guys on YouTube lol.
  21. I ordered a few samples from them, haven't gotten them into wax yet but they smell amazing! Lavender Vanilla and Cactus Flower and Coconut
