  1. Jennie, Have you contacted the company directly for your refund? I think you should if not! Tell them exactly how rude their rep was. There's no excuse for that.
  2. They started recruiting consultants a good while before they opened the company. Plus, I believe they offered free signups and offer a percentage of a consultant's recruits sales.
  3. I use liquid food colors very often in my soap. Red & yellow work well and you can mix them to make orange. Green gives a reddish color in CP and like someone else said the blue will give you either pink or purple in CP, depending on how much you use. These colors should not fade, unless your food color has Red 3 in it. Don't use any with Red 3! Red 40 doesn't fade, so use it freely. The ones I get from Dollar General don't fade. For a buck you can color a lot of soap!
  4. You only use a tiny bit--they're very strong. I highly doubt that's enough sugar to cause any problems. One thing I've found, though, with Wilton colors is that most of the pinks, reds and purples fade terribly. You have to read the ingredients and the ones that are mostly Red 3 are the faders. There is a red that doesn't fade-It's Red (no taste) which is Red 40 that doesn't fade. Unfortunately, its not as pretty as the other reds.
  5. I don't know how good it is, since I haven't used it yet, but I just got Mountain Berry from Alabaster for $10 a pound.
  6. My chemical supply place calls the kind I use technical grade.
  7. Thanks for all the help, guys! I appreciate it!
  8. but the white base had good lather? If so, I'm going to try the clear. I bought some at Hobby Lobby that doesn't lather at all! Also, last year I bought some white from WSP that had no lather. I make CP, but I wanted to make a few kid's soaps with clear base. Thanks Noodle! Marilyna
  9. Mostly I wonder if it has good lather. Thanks! Marilyn
  10. Maryann, thanks so much for answering even though it wasn't what I wanted to hear! Can you tell me if all of those scents do turn brown? I was thinking they all do, but wasn't sure about the Cotton Candy, Watermelon & Strawberry.
  11. I've been making CP & HP soap for years, but recently my customers have been asking for kid's soaps. So, I want to make some clear M&P soaps using some kid type FOs. But I know lots of them turn brown in CP. I wanted to know if they'd also turn brown in Clear M&P? Some of the ones I'm considering are: Cotton Candy, Bubble Gum, Strawberry, Watermelon, various Vanillas, and Pink Sugar. Thanks for any advice!! Marilyna
  12. Pigments work very nicely in both CP & HP. You can get a very nice variety pack of them from www.cosmeticformulator.com. I also use a lot of food colors. Some work and some don't in CP. Greens turn red in CP, Yellow works fine, Blue will turn pink to purple (depending on how much you use), Red will work (but make sure its Red 40-avoid red 3, it fades terribly). But in general, the pigments work much more dependably than the food colors for CP.
  13. I use www.citymax.com and love, love, love it. It's extremely easy to setup. Marilyna
  14. I don't do candles, but I've used it in soap. I love it. It's one of my favorites.
  15. Are you sure the liquid, yellow oil from Sam's says hydrogenated? Hydrogenated soybean oil is the white, scoopable kind. The liquid, yellow is just plain soybean oil. I would not substitute it for hydrogenated. I love the liquid kind and use it, but it's not the same as the hydrogenated. But the sap value is the same from what I understand. Marilyna
  16. Hi Michelle, From what the recipe states, it looks to me like you need to use more FO. Looks like it's about 3 pounds of oils and 1 oz of FO. For that amount of oil, I would use 3 oz of FO. A lot of us use 1 oz of FO per pound of oils. So if you rebatch it, I would add 2 more oz FO.
  17. I was shocked that my very amateur site comes up #4 on Google if you search for handmade soaps and the name of my town. #7 on Google search for lotion and the name of my town. Unfortunately, I don't think too many people are going to search for Handmade soap from my little town of 5,000:p Marilyna
  18. I do color mine. My bottles are clear, so it looks really pretty and I think it makes them sell more. Marilyna
