Thank you! I poured a sample of CS Toasted Pumpkin a couple weeks ago and you just reminded me. Burning it now 🙂

I loved this FO last fall---I did find it a bit tricky to wick in 6006.  Had to wick up 2 sizes but it was worth the trial and error; fabulous scent

No suggestions? I just knew someone on here would come up with a great name LOL! I'm just blank! I can't think of anything.

It's so funny that you are asking this as I just ordered this scent from Lone Star.  I'm actually thinking of just calling it Bourbon Pumpkin.  I usually name my candles with names that actually say what their fragrance is.

I just looked up "drunken" in the online thesaurus---haha, how about "Pickled Pumpkin"

Still looks like uneven cooling, like a draft from the other side.

You could stick it in the fridge for a few minutes to shrink away that last little strip.

that's what's so odd; as part of this test I put a box over the darn thing so there's no draft at all.  I think it's gremlins.

I'll go try the fridge technique.  Thanks--I'll let you know!!

  4. I have been making candles for about 5 years now and doing well in the wholesale market on a small but busy scale.  I'm using the 9 oz straight sided amber jars and I have a love/hate relationship with these things.  The small mouth opening can get tricky with pours (I stop my pour right before the neck gets smaller) but other than that they are my go to vessel.  I'm using 6006 wax and CD wicks--all is good there.

Here's my problem.........these stupid lines. It's just one line on each jar, not multiple.  I know it's a "wet spot", more like a "wet line" and it drives me insane.  I didn't used to get these and it's driving me crazy trying to remedy them.  I know it's no big deal but when you go from not having them to well, having them, it makes one a bit nutso.  I am pouring at about 155 degrees and then I wrap each jar in a little felt cocoon-like I always have.

Any idea why these are appearing and how I can get them to stop?

I'm not getting any sooting or bad mushrooming in the 6046 with the CD wick.

I completely agree with the hot throw.  I wasn't sure if it was the FO or the wax as I was testing a new scent.  Dang.  I love this wax.  Easy to melt and pour and the glass adhesion is to die for; no wet spots whatsoever.  I'm going to keep trying.  I think the heavy FO's will be fine.

I have to make a correction to this post as I misspoke.  I meant to reference the HTP wick, not the CD wick. .  In my large 13 oz jar I'm only using a HTP62 as this wax does burn great with a smaller  wick; the melt pool is perfect.  This jar would require a much larger wick with my usual IGI 6006; in fact I accidentally test wicked a large candle that I thought was 6046 with an HTP 62 (it was actually 6006 wax) and the candle just laughed at me.  I'm not going to abandon this wax......

HTPs and CDs will not work in that wax great at all, you will get a lot of sooting and so bad mushrooming that it affects the burn too much.

Smaller CDN wicks are the one's that is recommended by IGI for that wax. Try CDN (Stabilo KST) 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 for the best results.

You will not have the best throw until you burned down half of your candle unfortunately but those wicks will work from top to bottom with that wax.

On it's own I have not found it to be an ideal wax for hot throw in my containers.

I may just go bonkers while testing the 6046 from CS. I like the wax, I do, but these wicks....I have tried HTP from 62 through 105 and CD 6 through 14. Every flame burned wildly all over the place except the cd 6 (too small). I’m using 6% FO and trimming wicks. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better wick to use?

have you tried smaller than the HTP 62?  I guess I should ask firstly what size vessel you are using?  I love the 6046.  I'm using an HTP 62 in a 13 oz, 3 1/4" jar and it's perfect.  Please provide more info and a pic of your container

best thing to do is: just admit to it!

So, my dear friends and addicts, I am going to admit here that I'm a FOHO.

Over the past week I received shipments of FOs from AH-RE, Fillmore, Candle Science, The Candle Source, Lone Star, Cajun Candle. Just wanting to add a few more to my 200+ collection.  But, hey, I've got candles, wax tarts, soaps, lotions, etc. to make!  My actions are justified, right? 😁

Just a quick question:  do you sometimes find yourself looking at your stash of FOs and feeling "lost", not knowing which one you should reach for (because you've got so darn many)?  That's me these days! 🤔

Oh yes, the FO stash.........a blessing and a curse.  I honestly have just stopped getting on the sites to just "see what's new".  I found that when I have a gazillion scents to pick from I end up feeling a bit stressed out, if that makes sense.  I do love the thrill of seeing the box sitting on my doorstep (actually in TX you have to set alerts for when FO's are delivered by the carriers or they'll bake in the sun) and opening each glorious little sample bottle.  Then I just have to put them on the FO shelf and determine which one to try first.  I've gone through my FO's and gotten rid of scents that are old or stinky and when I get new scents in, I immediately determine if they're a keeper or not.  No sense in storing scents you'll never use.  Long story short.......stay off of your computer

I'm taking some FO to a guy friend at work to use in a wax warmer, and when I asked him what he liked he said "I don't know, just anything."  Which as you can imagine was not a lot of help.

How this came about is I blended applejack FO with some cinnamon red hots FO to make Applejack & Cinnamon, took it to the office this week, and have been testing it.  I made that specifically for a girl friend there, but I had to test it out first.  She and this guy I'm talking about came sniffing around in my office for what smelled so good, so the jig was up then:  I was happy she went nuts over it since it was actually for her anyway, so I went ahead and gave it to her.  Then I felt like slime for giving her something right in front of him, because I like him just as much as I like her,  so now I'm taking him something, because I can't stand the thought that he might feel left out.

But I don't want to give him the exact same scent I created for her.  So, what would you guys suggest for him?  What Fall-themed FOs and scents have the men in your lives went nuts over, or male customers have raved about?  What about something that would actually combine well in the air with that Applejack & Cinnamon FO, since they're probably both going to be using them within a few feet of each other (my office is sandwiched between theirs)?

I love Cuban Tobacco (RE) and Tobacco and Caramel (FC)--these are my 2 best sellers to both men and women.

  10. I've had a request from one of my stores to make some Texas themed candles.  Hmmmmm.....I asked her specifically what she was looking for and she said I could just come up with them myself.  This is always a challenge as everyone's interpretation of these things is different.

I'm thinking that a leather/bourbon would be excellent (I like the RE leather and FC Kentucky Bourbon).

Any suggestions for a good bluebonnet FO?  Or mountain laurel?

Any other Texas scents you can recommend?

Tobacco Vanille from either BA or Scentsational is excellent. It's a Tom Ford dupe and it's very nice.  Spicy.

BB's Tobacco & Bay Leaf is a staple.

FC's Pipe Tobacco smells exactly like the pipe my dad used to smoke. Spot on.

I blend FC Pipe Tobacco with FC Kentucky Bourbon---fabulous

    Hi,

I have recently started making wax melts and I have tried a couple different waxes and ways to do them. First I tried vegetable wax, then paraffin.

    I was hoping to find out;

    * Which wax is best to use for a good strong and lasting scent?

    * Which temperature is best to use for, melting, adding colour & fragrance, pouring?

    * What is your most popular selling frangrances?

    * Which website is best to use to buy supply’s? I currently use soap suppliers the last couple of times.

Thankyou in advance !! ❤️ Xxx

I use the Ky parasoy from Rustic Esentuals---easy to use
