  1. No. Not yet. I've been pouring pillars the last couple of days. But I will. I promise! When I do, I'll report the results with pictures, diagrams, pie charts and notarized depositions. The whole ball of wax! Hey, that was a pun.
  2. Exactly. Thank you. I fully intend to keep swimming. I get frustrated, but I don't give up. I may walk away from the problem for a little while, pout about it and feel sorry for myself for a few minutes but I always snap out of it and then go back and try again. I've said here before that I tend to over think things. That's true! It's my nature and I can't change that anymore than I can change the color of my eyes. I'd much rather be thought of as an over-thinker than an under-thinker.
  3. Even if anyone gave you and "exact" temperature it would not help one bit. It could never be achieved with ANY certainty. Everyone uses different heating sources and different thermometers. None are the same as any other, even from the same manufacturer. Everyone operates under different room temperatures and etc. I would never expect to get an exact temperature! I have different thermometers in the same location within inches of each other and none of them ever indicate the same thing. If I told you to heat something to exactly 133 degrees, how would you ever determine that it was the same as what I was getting? That's totally impossible! I would never expect anything but a range. That's ALL I would ever ask for and even then I couldn't be sure of that. I've put different thermometers of the same model, from the same manufacturer into the same boiling pot at the same time and gotten different readings from each.
  4. Not sharing a temperature? Is that some big trade secret or proprietary information? Temperature information goes back and forth everyday on this forum. Most of the people here are more than happy to do that.
  5. According to the people who make the wax, I did pour at the "correct" temperature. She/he "pleasured whatever" knows more than they do. But since the expert on that wax says he/she is not coming back, we will never know. This same person went out of his/her way to try and humiliate and embarrass me and accomplished it. I was under the impression that asking questions was what this forum was all about. I didn't realize it was just a place to spread your feathers like a peacock. She/he never had any intention of trying to help me. It was very mean and calculated. Thanks for the offer of your wall
  6. As I remember from somewhere, at a higher altitude water takes longer to reach it's boiling point. The air is thinner too. Not that any of the two have a thing to do with wax, it's just a very general statement that I'm making. This should not be construed to apply to IGI 4627!
  7. Then I have no choice except to take it that you agree with the Candlewic numbers you presented. That's what I'll do.
  8. If someone told me I could pick one and only one of those different factors (WV vs NC) altitude would be my first choice.
  9. At what temperature do you pour IGI 4627 Comfort Blend? That's the temperature I want to try. Do you use the 145-150 range? Thanks in advance.
  10. I was wrong about what Candlewic said. Yes @ScentedPleasurez I just saw the same thing you just clipped and posted from the Candlewic site. I said I would be back and report if I was wrong. Here I am. Looking back at my notes, it was Candlescience that listed the pour temp as 180F (+or- 5 degrees). I have the sheet I printed from the CS site here beside me. I also have the IGI sheet for 4627 Comfort Blend beside me on the desk. It gives the pouring temperature as 175-185F. You're right that @Kerven did point that out to me and I truly apologize to him for not paying better attention to what he was trying to tell me. I now need to determine if Candlewic has the wrong information listed or whether the manufacturer and Candlescience have it wrong. We are very fortunate to have people on this forum with your experience to help clear up issues like this, and to help out beginners like me with medically diagnosed cognitive handicaps. I'll get out of the way now.
  11. OK. I'll go back and check again. If I'm wrong, I'll come back here and admit to it.
  12. I love the way you worded that! I really don't want to add cardboard boxes to the process As far as pouring at the correct temp, I promise I was right in the range given by two different sellers and the manufacturer. I was watching it like a hawk. I'd be willing to take a polygraph test.
  13. Hmm. Cratering is probably the word I should be using. This last episode happened when I was using IGI 4627 Comfort Blend. The manufacturer's product info sheet says it is a "one pour" (their words) wax. Well, well. I just noticed something. I'm glad you came along @Arch Rock. Looking down their sheet, it also says "Good single pour properties under optimal conditions...". Now that sounds a little strange to me. Maybe it's not a true one-pour wax? Are single pour and one pour two different things? I wonder what they mean when they say "optimal conditions".
  14. Yes, that could be the problem. I tend to rush. I've been trying to concentrate on pouring slowly. Thanks
  15. Never mind my last post. DISREGARD! Re-reading this thread, I see where my question was answered. I just forgot. Sorry for the inconvenience. Moving on...
  16. @Trappeur It all makes sense, but where is the cost of dye. Figuring in blocks and chips is a cinch, but how do you figure in the cost of liquid dye? How much is a "drop", how many drops are in a bottle? I'm sure the cost is tiny. I could probably ignore it completely, but it annoys me to not know what it costs me and how to figure it.
  17. Thanks @MilosCandles I think that's the one I'm trying to find.
  18. Thanks for trying. That's the link I was referring to that is only accessed by their dealers. I requested access. We'll see what they say?
  19. When I first got on this forum, I read bits of a discussion about how you figure the cost of liquid dye when figuring the cost of your candle. I've searched for that discussion here on the forum but no luck. Does anyone remember that topic? It meant nothing to me at the time since I was new. Now I see that it's a pretty good question. Basically, the topic revolved around the difficulty of figuring cost of liquid dye since we use "drops" and not weight. It even got into the question of "how many drops are in a bottle of liquid dye?" How DO you figure the cost of liquid dye in a candle? Any ideas that might help me?
  20. Someone out there knows what this button means. Maybe I haven't reached a high enough level for someone to tell me how to use it yet.
  21. IGI, the wax manufacturer, you crazy guy.
  22. Does anyone have a web address for IGI consumers (people like us) to use for getting product info or contacting them? All I can find is their website that is used by their dealers and other business partners.
