  1. Thanks for posting an update. Im currently testing dbl LX 10s with a 3.5 diameter. I have chosen quite a few Lab & Co aka Woodenwick fragrances but 2 of the 3 I plan to include in my launch are Lemon + Thyme and Cedarwood Neroli and Balsam. I also mix 4627 with Coco83 so I will definitely keep that cure time in mind when dealing with lab & co fragrances .
  2. @Thecandlegirl, so would you happen to have any insight into wicking this wax? I've tried them all but a running consensus in another candle group im in is CDN wicks work best. Just curious,
  3. @JeremyM I can't find her response at the moment but I do know they offer a discount at either 40 or 50lbs because some other candle makers mentioned it as well. Now im going to have to reaffirm what the actual % and weight is. If I were you, I would definitely call or email them.
  4. @JeremyM, im going to find the email I was sent when I asked the question to confirm.
  5. @Thecandlegirl, are you referring to accublend when you say the source or candles and supplies?
  6. @candleRush as someone else said, there really isn't too much of a price difference between Lab & Co and Candles and Supplies. Lab & Co 5lb slab is $14 while Candle Supplies 5lb slab is 13.99. The difference come when ordering in bulk and even then it's a few dollars more because lab & co gives 20% off anything over 40lbs (I believe). I've chalked it up to pick your poison and which fares better with shipping.
  7. Very interesting...I just received 15lbs of the lab and co VCC. I do believe C&S slab contains a small % of beeswax as well.
  8. Yes, I understand that and too have several notebooks that I've collected just from testing. I guess I was asking are you using a pure coconut wax and blending from that? I do know of a few suppliers that offer pure coconut that states will not work as a standalone. I'm not asking for your formula or your ratios, just maybe a suggestion of the coconut wax. But I understand everything you've mentioned here and in the previous post. Thanks
  9. Do you mind sharing what coconut wax and (supplier) you started out with to create your own formula? I'm open at this point and was actually doing this with Coconut 83 until the factory decided to relocate.
  10. @JeremyM, Grapefruit Peppermint & Orange, Sea Salt Mandarin and Orange, Lavender, Vetiver, & Ylang Ylang, Indie, Meditation, Coffee Bean & Caco and Honey Bourbon. I like all of these because they cater a collection I plan to offer centered around feelings. However I'm only starting with 3-4 and then gradually add more. I looked at the Black Dahlia and White Birch but decided upon these to try first. I also have Coconut and Cilantro and Dark Cassis which smells good. I placed tested the ones listed above in a warmer with rock salt and the scent is strong even for the lighters fragrances. Can't wait to use them with the wax.
  11. @JeremyM thanks for your input. I will place an order today. Do you find yourself using the coco creme by itself or are you adding additional soy to it? I have ordered 9 different fragrances from them to test and im really impressed with them.
  12. Hi pughaus, with all the recent "turmoil" brewing with Coconut 83 are you satisfied with Lab and Co's virgin coco wax to the point that you would make them your main supplier? I'm currently on the fence and figuring cost difference between the 2 other main suppliers I've gotten coconut 83 from. I had planned to launch my business in the summer but there is so much uncertainty around this coconut wax I'm not sure. I have tested both 464 and 210 and not satisfied with the inconsistencies with the two of them. I've also tested IGI 6006 with HTP, CDN, ECO and LX wicks and was totally not impressed with the black soot. I know soy candles can soot too but when dealing with just straight soy or coconut soy, I rarely saw soot.
  13. Yeah, this whole thing is crazy. I attempted to call Accublend today and the number is disconnected. Went to website and received a "404 error" aka website doesn't exist. Candle and supplies is where I normally order 83 from. I called today and expressed my concern with the lack of transparency going on from the suppliers and manufacturers. You have CandleSupply saying they have no estimated return on the 83 and you have Candle and supplies saying they received an email this week saying they would get a shipment the end if this week. At this point what do you do? I'm seriously thinking about ordering from Lab and Co. This is just frustrating.
  14. Yeah, I did think about that and also trying to dupe them as well.
  15. Hi strugglebrother, he said no. After December they will solely operate from Korea but you could still order from them but then you have to factor in the overseas shipping cost. Have you ever tried their Fragrance Oils? I'm on the fence with purchasing a few of the ones they have on sale. All 16oz bottles are 24.99.
  16. Funny you would mention this company as I stumbled upon them last night. Noticed a lot of things were on sale so I called to inquire why. They will no longer have a US store at the end of December. They will solely operate out of Korea. :
  17. Hi @CandleCrafter6 are these the wicks that start with numbers like 36-24-24C? Do you have to under wick with this type? Thanks for sharing.
  18. Sorry Laura, I thought you made the statement about the cotton core wicks.
  19. Hi Laura, are these the wicks that start with numbers like 36-24-24C? Do you have to under wick with this type? Thanks for sharing.
  20. Birdcharm, I agree with TallTayl, I've tried testing both ways and for me, in my mind process of elimination just works better for me. All those factors you listed do play a part in the overall testing but if I can eliminate testing 6 wicks in 6 containers and narrow it down to testing maybe 2 then in my opinion, that's more efficient use of my time, especially since I work full time as well.
  21. Pughaus, I only found HTP 73 so thanks for letting me know there's really no diff between the two. I'll keep in an eco for comparison purposes. I have one blend with 20% additional soy and one blend with 40% additional soy. I'll commence testing around Thursday doing a initial pan test for both. Thanks Arch Rock, I finally feel like my head is slowly coming out of the dark hole of testing😂. I truly appreciate this group and all the support.
  22. Thanks Pughaus, I do believe I have some at home. I will check today. If so I may switch out my ecos for the 72 and 73.
  23. No, because this mix included that pillar bliss which you noted shrinks, I decided to not test a third time. I remelted, added some fragrance and made wax melts. I did pour 2 new blends of Coco83 and soy wax. I will plan to test those at least 3 times with the CDN and ECO wicks. I'm also introducing CW20-30 & Premier 745. I'm glad I have something to go on to help guide me for the future testing. I've been at this for almost a year (off and on) and I'm ready to start making some good quality candles. Yes, most definitely the most efficient and effective way of testing. Thanks for all your support and advice. 🙂
  24. I didnt notice that but you're right they do all look proportional. Only sooting was the Wood Wick along with some discoloration.
