  1. Hi everyone, just doing a follow-up from my original post. I conducted a second test burn and here was my results. These measurements for the MP are as follows: Burn Test 1: Width / Depth Cdn 4 - 1 1/2 in & 1/8in Cdn 6- 2 in & 1/8in Eco 4- 1 2/4in & 1/8in Eco 6- 1 2/4in & 1/8in RW(s)- 2 1/4in & 1/16in WW(xs)- 2in & 1/16in Burn Test 2: Width / Depth Cdn 4 - 1 1/2 in & 1/4in Cdn 6- 2 1/16 in & 1/4in Eco 4- 1 1/2in & 1/4in Eco 6- 2in & 1/4in RW(s)- 2 1/2in & 1/4in WW(xs)- 2 1/8in & 1/8in I overall like the performance of the CDN 4, and ECO4&6. Because this was blending with pillar bliss I may use for wax melt formula. Thoughts? I plan to test another blend with a different container wax and not wax for melts
  2. Thanks TallTayl, this is all great info. I didnt know that about the PB. I have another wax I plan to try and blend with as well. No there was no discoloration the wax, no sooting, no carbon deposit. Actually the ECO 4&6 along with CDN 4&6 all had deeper melt pools than the Ribbonwick and the Wood wick. Is that the goal for it to spread out, then down? The only one whose flame appeared to get bigger was the ribbon wick and it's a small. I've attached some images of the containers I would like to test in.
  3. No, you are correct. CDN6 did create a larger melt pool.
  4. Thanks Kerven, I thought the ECO 4 and CDN 4 burned pretty much the same throughout. With coconut wax isnt the melt pool supposed to go down, then out? If I had to rank them I would say 1.ECO4 2. ECO6 3. CDN4 4.Woodwick
  5. Thanks, yeah the two largest melt pools came from the ribbon wick and wood wick. Here's a pic after the 4th hour of burning where you can see the depth a little more. I'll do round 2 of testing tomorrow.
  6. Hello, I'm currently doing a baseline test (no fragrance) of 80%/20 % Coconut83 and Ecosoya PB. I have posted a pic at the 2hr mark. I couldn't load my video for the 3hr mark so I did screen shots :). I think my biggest issue is trying to figure out how to measure the melt pool and what is it that I'm actually supposed to be looking for. Thank you for any advice you are willing to give me.
  7. Thanks Tally, very insightful. I believe I have some ECOs on hand as well. Once the wicks arrive I will do a side by side comparison as well.
  8. Hello, I came across a FB post about cottonwood wicks from Northwood Candle Supply providing a really good melt pool and HT with coconut wax. There aren't many reviews on the website, just curious if anyone has previously or is currently testing out these wicks? I'm still on the search for the perfect wax, wick combo for Coconut 83. Thanks!
  9. Thanks TallTayl, I'm definitely not trying to launch a grenade so I understand. I tried searching prior to posting but only found 1 topic closely related which was a questions about GMO wax. Maybe I'm searching the wrong subject in the search box.
  10. Good morning, afternoon or evening depending on what side of the world you are on. I'm curious as to your take on ethics in business practices of the manufacturers and or suppliers who provide your products for business. I.E. the whole palm oil issue with deforestation. Because of this reason a lot of candle makers decided to shy away from palm products. Now the next big thing is coconut wax. Are there any growing concerns about how this oil for the wax is sourced? Are there any concerns as to whether the farmers are being paid properly and if it's causing any damage to their forests and habitation? Am I being too deep here? I just wonder in this current social and ethical climate, if a customer was to ask these questions, how as a business owner would you answer? It's like going in a rabbit hole to find the source who sources and get data to back up what they are saying. Appreciate a kind discussion on this matter. Thanks!
  11. Good evening, I am planning to begin testing the Coconut 83 this weekend so I thoroughly appreciate all the information that has been shared thus far. I purchased 3lbs from CalCandleSupply and just purchased a 5lb slab from C and S. Based on the information shared I've gathered that you need to add a different wax to harden the coconut wax so I purchase rice bran, carnauba, and beeswax. Carnauba being the most expensive and hardest to find. A few questions I have are: 1. For those who have tested both suppliers waxes, is there a personal preference between the coconut 83 from Calcandle and Coconut/Soy blend from Candle and supplies? 2. Have you found a more economical wax to add that provides the hardness factor? 3. Any other tips to share for testing purposes? Thanks for your time.
  12. Hello, I would like to thank you for allowing me to be a part of the group. I came across this Forum through some research I was doing on candle making. Candle making is new to me but something I'm looking forward into learning due to the fact that I love love candles. By being a part of this forum I'm hoping to gain some valuable insight and hope to share some as well as I walk this new journey.
