  1. Does anyone sell their LLC B and B stuff? I'd love some, but all I make in B and B is MP soap. I do candles. Please let me know if you are selling your product. I really want to try some. I'm really interested in scrubs, but would consider other stuff. I hope this was ok to post here, since this scent has been talked about SO much! Thanks, Heather
  2. Is there an appropriate place to ask if one might buy some of the B and B stuff from someone on here, all ready made? I make my own candles and occasional MP soap, but I would love to have some Lemon Curd salt or sugar scrub from someone who makes to sell their product. I'm really not ready to tackle doing scrubs, but you guys are making me want some really badly!!! How do you go about doing that? If this is an inappropriate place to post, would the moderate please move or remove it? I don't want to get in trouble or make anyone angry. TIA Heather
  3. I make 6 and 8 oz container candles in tins. I LOVE the tins and find they work really well in my area, plus they don't show wet spots! Tins also tend to catch up pretty easily on hang-up, if there is any, after a couple of burns. Another reason, there are no suppliers close to me and tins are lighter to ship, therefore costing less for shipping. Occasionally, I get a request for a jar candle from friends, which I will do if asked. Who else makes tins and why do you choose tins over glass?
  4. I'd like to join too. I make 6 and 8 oz tin container candles. Thanks, Heather
  5. I love it and I'll buy yours from you if you don't want it!
  6. To me, finding the right jar/wick/fo combination was the biggest challenge. Start small. There is so much variety out there it is tempting to try to sample a little of all of it. Pick one type/size of container, preferably something that has consistent diameter (same size all the way down). Then pick a couple of your favorite fragrances and work on them until they burn correctly. Trying for too much variety can be overwhelming and discouraging. The biggest thing is to enjoy it!
  7. I also use Lonestar for my dyes and over half my fragrances. ~Heather~
  8. It smells expensive! Kinda reminds you of dark wood and leather, like an elegant library in a manison or something...lol. What a description. Very deep and rich. I like it a lot!
  9. I use paraffin 4630. I heat to 190, add UV inhibitor and color immediately as I move it from my Presto to my pour pot, add FO at 180, cool to 160 then pour. This works for me, and I get a good hot and cold throw with most FOs. ~Heather~
  10. Amaretto, Apple Jack and Peel, Midsummer's Night, Christmas Cheer, Pearberry, Pomegranate, Sunwashed Linen...
  11. This wax works well for me. If I heat my glass jars to 170 and pour at 160, I have very small wet spots. It is pretty much one pour. I don't have to do relief holes and repours. It gives very flat tops. Hot and cold throw is good to me, and my friends brag on the hot throw. But I've never used any other container wax. Just my two cents... ~Heather~
  12. I got a bright lite pink, if that makes sense. It's not pastel, but it isn't very dark either. I use Lonestar's red liquid dye and 4630 wax and I put one drop per pound. It doesn't seem to have any brown tint.
  13. I knew when I poured this sample that I'd have to burn it first today. Oh, man, this stuff smells SO good. I just had to order a pound of it first thing this morning! I used 1 oz pp. I'd heard with Peaks you can use 1/2 oz pp. Anyone tried this with Pink Sugar?
  14. Birthday cake and orange chiffon cake. I was burning one in the living room and one in the kitchen testing them. My 7 year old came in saying, "Mama, you gotta blow those out. They are making me HUNGRY!!" LOL
  15. Makes sense...how long do you guys wait? I read until a film had formed. Is there a time??
  16. I would have NEVER purchased a chocolate FO for a candle. I don't know why, just didn't think it would smell good. Becky sent me a sample with my last order, and OH, MY it smells great OOB and cold throw. I am waiting until tomorrow to light 'er up. Anyone else?
  17. The bottom layer is blue (amaretto). The top layer was supposed to be white (JS vanilla buttercreme crunch). My top layer is a very light blue, but it smells likte JS VBC. What did I do wrong? I poured down the side, after it filmed over, at 5 degrees hotter than I had poured the first layer. Well at least it didn't all mix together. Is white a hard color to layer?
  18. It's well-natured, and they know I can be a little OC about somethings...but they really DO need to burn the candles I give them for the first time until they get a full melt pool...and they need to keep the wicks trimmed...and the tins CAN get hot so they should set them on something heat resistant. They are like it's a candle...you light it, you burn it, you toss it when it's gone. GRRRRRRRRRR! Am I being to compulsive with my instructions?? And then yesterday, I was talking to one of the secretaries, and she had a candle going on her desk (mass produced with very little throw) and I swear the wick was 3/4 inch long with a big, ole mushroom on the end of it. The flame was 2 inches high!!! I told her...girl, you need to trim that wick...see how that candle is smoking?? (The jar was blackened really badly.) They just laughed at me. There goes Heather on her candle soap-box again. I really don't care. Like I said, they aren't being ugly about it. It's their candles that they are burning the best they could, and we are great friends. But does this annoy anyone else???? ~Heather~
  19. Hi! I'm also in Mississippi, and I haven't found anyone within driving distance. I order my supplies from lonestarcandlesupply.com. If you find someone closer, give me a shout!
  20. I use the 4630 in my 9 oz oval hex and 8 oz square tins. I have only had complaints about the light scents not throwing well (like sunwashed linen). All my other FO's throw great, cold and hot. I use HTP wicks and have few problems except sooting if I don't trim them on schedule. Yes, I have wet spots, but that's one reason I LOVE my tins. I add FO (1 oz pp) around 180 and pour at 160. It has worked well for me. ~Heather~
  21. Plus the price is a little high. My candle tins run .58 to .88 each before shipping (8 oz square).
  22. I've been pretty much wicking the same two jars since I started...a 9 oz oval hex and an 8 oz square tin. I always use IGI 4630 Harmony Blend. The 9 oz does well with HTP83 with most FO's and colors. The tins do better with HTP104. However, I asked a tin company for some samples and they sent one of EVERY size. I'd like to try my hand at the 16 oz tins, but I have no idea where to start with wicking; I can't find any guidelines for double wicking. I received a TON of sample wicks from Wick It...their 700 series. It has a guideline for single wicking (ex. wick x with 2-3" diameters), but is there a rule of thumb for double wicking? I have friends who would eventually like me to make some larger double wicked candles. And if anyone wicks a circular 16 oz tin with one wick, what size? Thanks, ~Heather~
  23. I roll my wicks on a bamboo skewer and clothespin them when I do my container candles, but I wicked up from HTP 83 to HTP 104...now I am getting little hardened pieces of wick falling on to the tops of my candles. Has anyone else had this problem? What do you do? I tried pushing my wick down in the hot wax and it softens it some but then the wax gobs on my wick. Are there any wick holders out there that actually help you find the center of the jar or any tricks? Thanks, ~Heather~
  24. They are the meat and potatoes of my line...lol. They are close and shipping is reasonable. I truly like their scents, though. If I didn't, I'd pay shipping from somewhere else. I am branching out a bit for things that they don't carry, but as I rule I recommend them. Their lead time on orders is short, and their customer service is great. I ordered glue dots from them, which I couldn't get to work in my containers. I emailed them, and they answered promptly, telling me to send them back for credit. As soon as they got them, I got credit. ~Heather~
