  1. look under product catalog or something like that on their website.
  2. I had a problem with the last case of 4630 that I got from Lonestar. It seemed too hard when I cut it, but I chalked it up to the low temp in our house (had the a/c wide open). But the tops looked different and I had HUGE wet spots after they cured. Called them and they said they had a shippment that was "too hard"...I'm thinking pillar wax? They are replacing my case, but I've got lost FO and wicks. :embarasse I melt 8 pounds at a time. Just thought I'd share my trouble with 4630.
  3. I LOVE it! What do the words at the bottom mean?
  4. Ok, I'm playing around with sugar scrub after buying and sampling some wonderful ones on this board. My problem is I'm using a LOT of oil...mainly fractionated coconut oil and it seems to be drying my skin. Is that nuts?? Does anyone have a suggestion about the best oil for the bulk of your scrub to get the most moisturizing? TIA, Heather
  5. Can anyone suggest a Buttered Rum that has a great hot throw? I got a request for this from a friend, and I got my GL sample in Christmas Butter Rum, but it's not throwning in my 4630. Anybody LOVE theirs? Thanks, Heather
  6. I use IGI 4630, and it really is a one pour wax for me. I mostly do tins, so I don't worry about wet spots. I don't preheat my tins, and I pour around 150-160. I get flat tops every time, and don't have to repour for air pockets. I pour very slowly. When I use glass, I do preheat because I just HAVE to minimize the wet spots. Heather
  7. Glad we helped! Happy Birthday, Sweetie!!!
  8. Lily, Please, please make sure that you have an adult help or supervise you. I'm an emergency room nurse, and I just finished a burn class. Let me tell you, things only have to be like 140 degrees to cause 3rd degree burns. We all usually heat our wax to 170-200, and wax is like oil. You know how when your skin gets oily it won't wash or wipe right off? You have to be SO VERY CAREFUL!!! I know 7th grade is pretty mature. My nephew is in the 7th grade, and I trust him to do a lot of stuff, but there are so many dangers out there that you guys don't see at your age. Please, please promise me that you'll get your mom or another adult to supervise you while you do this, or talk to your teacher and get another type of project. I chair the IRB (approval board) for a junior high science program, and I have to approve all of their experiments for their science fairs and things. I would really have a problem approving this without strict adult supervision..and even adults get burned all the time while making candles. One other thing...if you have smaller brothers or sisters, make SURE that they are no where around when you are working with hot wax. I'm telling you, accidents happen in the blink of an eye. If you and your mom decide to still do it, I hope you have fun and please, please be very, very careful!
  9. Did you spray with alcohol while it was still wet or now?
  10. I use 4630 and HTP 104's for the majority of my FOs. HTH Heather
  11. What's the ballpark amount of FO for this recipe and when would you add it? TIA Heather
  12. Ok, I'm new to B&B. How do you mix all that together? Thanks, Heather Like all the oils together? Do you heat it? What order do you add what ingredients?
  13. Yeah, I'd think that might cause you to smell the dye. Have you smelled it out of the bottle? YUCK! I use 4630 Harmony and Lonestar's red dye. It says to use 8 drops per pound for red, but I've used like 6 and gotten a nice red. If you want a darker red, try adding a drop of black. It makes more of a merlot color. HTH Heather
  14. I would think it would probably be a stir more or use less FO issue, also. Are you weighing your FO or measuring it by volume? If you are using a liquid oz, could be this FO is heavier than others you've worked with. If it's not this or anything else the others have said, I have no idea! Heather
  15. I use prewax, pretabbed wicks. I'm assuming these are not. Can you make these for containers? I wonder what it would look like...anyone ever tried it?
  16. Anyone know where to get the flip spout lids like Peak's uses with their FO's? TIA Heather
  17. Ok, here is what I do...not saying it's the RIGHT way, but it works for me. Heat wax in my presto pot to 190. Use a thermometer constantly to monitor this temp. Dip out with a heat resistant ladle into a pyrex cup. I'm making 8 oz tins so I know that takes 400 cc melted wax to make 2 tins, which is 2/3 of a solid pound. (20 oz melted wax (600 cc)= 1 lb weight solid wax). I immediately add 1/2 tsp UV inhibitor. I found out really quickly that sunlight fades my candles without it. Then I stir in my dye, knowing that I have to adjust my usage to 2/3 of the amount used for one pound. Same with FO...0.6 to 0.9 oz. of FO (which is 2/3 of 1.0 to 1.5 oz/pp). I do these three steps really quickly because I've read FO bonds best to your wax around 180. I stir and let it sit until it is 150, then I pour into my tins. When I use glass, I heat my jars to 170 and pour at 160. This makes two 8 oz tins or three 6 oz tins or add 25 cc of wax and it will make 2 9 oz oval hex jars. I use IGI 4630 with HTP wicks. Some scents like Clean Cotton haven't had a strong throw for me, but I think that's because they are a light scent. You just kinda have to play and figure out what works for you. ~Heather~
  18. Let me just say that I love JS...usually. I made a tester with this and seriously do not like it. YUCK! However, it's the very first one I've gotten from her that I just can't stand. ~Heather~
  19. I agree with the cake one...call it King Cake and color it Purple, Yellow, and Green or layers of all of these. Heather
  20. I don't use plain lemon. I use lemon pound cake from KY in my candles. Everyone LOVES the smell!
  21. My biggest suggestion to you is to not forget to consider shipping. Shipping from multiple suppliers and from suppliers who are further away from you increases your cost. Plus try to get what you need in as few shipments as possible. I spent a ton on shipping because I'd forget something that I just HAD to have and would order it alone. Having said that, I buy most of my heavy stuff from a supplier that is close to me...Lonestar. The only thing I have been disappointed in was their glue dots. They just didn't hold when I poured hot wax, but they promptly refunded my money when I explained and returned them. Their FO's are good basic ones, but I'm finding I LOVE Just Scents, KY, and Peaks SO MUCH!!! ~Heather~
