  1. @Scented, I understand what you mean and that is my dilemma. I emailed support because the descriptions say "including", which led me to believe there was more than what they had listed. This was their response: "Thank you so much for contacting us. I am happy to hear that you are enjoying the fragrances you have tried so far! If a fragrance contains essential oils (in a measurable amount), yes, they will be listed under the details section. It is possible that there could be negligible amounts of other essential oils in some of the fragrances, however, these would be too small to easily calculate and then list. Keep in mind that all of our fragrances do have a synthetic base to them." Maybe I'm just overthinking it, and should just let it be. Thanks so much for your advice, Scented!
  2. Hi everyone! I've been testing Candlescience FOs for quite some time now, and I love most of the ones that I have tested. I started using them in my wax melts, and have recently started testing in c3 and 6006 for candles. I just noticed that most of their fragrance oils also contain essential oils. Should I list on my product labels that the wax melt/candle contains essential oils? I know some of them can be harmful to pets, and some folks might have allergies. What do you guys think? TIA, Neli
  3. Hi stevieg I use HTP wicks with success in my straight sided jars using 6006. I really like CDs/CDNs but I've found they make my jars too hot.
  4. Hi @AaronT, the Nag Champa from The Flaming Candle turns blue green in 6006 for me. Coincidently I was looking into buying NC from Candle Science today, as I have only tried Flaming's. I noticed lots of reviews on the CS website about their version of NC turning blue in wax as well, so I got discouraged, lol.
  5. @FB157 Yep, same jar! When I first started testing, I tried straight 464 and ECO wicks in 8oz tins. I found that those wicks burned through the wax really fast. I didn't really care for them too much, plus the 464 always had a strange smell to me.... I also tested C3 with CD wicks. I really liked the CDs, so I decided to try them with the 6006. Then I tested with CDNs and I got an even better throw. The only downside is that they tend to lean over as the candle burns down. And my jars get way too hot during power burns. But then again, this is with 6006 so maybe with the 415, they won't get as hot. I would give CDs a try! I live in swampy South Florida, and it's pretty darn hot down here so that my be adding to my hot jar situation, lol. Thanks for the advice about the zincs! I'm going to retest the sizes you mentioned and see what happens.... Best of luck to you as well!!
  6. Hi FB157, I too have been working on wicking a straight sided jar (mine is the 9oz amber jar), so I'm interested in the responses. I'm using 6006 and so far I've tested CD8,CDN8, CD10, HTP 73, Zinc 44-28 and 44-32. All these sizes made my jar way too hot! So now I'm setting up testers with CD6, HTP41, HTP52 and HTP62.
  7. Moonstar, yes I saw those too...they're so cute. I keep forgetting to order some though. I have some bags coming in soon - I think I'm going to try using those as my samplers and add a sticker or business card like kandlekrazy mentioned above. Thanks guys!!!
  8. Moonstar, I have some of those too. I just ordered a small quantity from Maple Street Candle and haven't gotten around to pouring them yet! Do you offer those? Have you found that customers like those better versus clamshells, mold pieces, etc.?
  9. Hmmm.... now that you put it that way, makes sense! I've been giving melts and candles to some of my co-workers so they could test for me. One of them recently asked me to make her a sampler pack because she didn't want to commit to one whole clamshell. I was trying to come up with a way of separating each cube so then I could put them in a bag.... and be cute at the same time haha. I checked out intheclear on Etsy and wow she has a lot of different options! Thanks Karen, I really appreciate it.
  10. Hi everyone! Newbie question: does anyone know if kraft paper sucks the scent out of wax melts? I'm new to wax melts and would like to offer melt samples. I was thinking of individually wrapping them in kraft paper. TIA! Neli
  11. Hi everyone!!! What's your name? Neli How old are you? 36 Where do you live? Miami, Florida How long have you been making candles/soap/whatever? I've been practicing for about 3 months now! How did you get started making candles/soap/whatever? Well, my friend had a BIG drawer full of wax melts and I was like "what's that?!" I instantly became curious and started experimenting. Are you married? Any kids? Not married but I have a son. He's 9. If candle/Soap making isn't your primary job, what do you do? I'm a paralegal. Anything else we should know? I've learned so much from this forum. I hope to learn a lot more!!! Thanks to everyone for posting such great info.
