  1. I see that this company is highly recommended and raved about.  However, I'm not sure if most are reviews based off soapmakers and if so, I wonder about the throw in wax.  Anyone try their oils in wax?

  2. I have used e6000 in clear that works great...like cement lol.

  3. Thanks so much for sharing!  I believe Lizzy also mentioned about a "off" smell.  I may pass on testing this one as I am sure their other blends are just as good with quality oils and the right wick.

  4. Anyone know where to get this?  I have only seen it at FBuddy but the review states it is smoky.  I'll still probably order a sample since scent is subjective but was curious to see if there is something similar even if not the same name as BBWs.

Yes, climate most def played a factor in my cracking issues. I live in New England and it only ever happened when shipping in super cold weather (like 10-20F) and my customers never complained :) it is a great wax.

Do you like it better than your all paraffin blends?

  6. I am no expert but have read on here before that some wick for the last half of the candle so the scent may not be as strong the initial burn or two but will catch up as you burn it more.  This also helps the jar not get too hot as it gets close to the end.  Maybe you did too large of a wick which worked great at first, but is burning the scent too quickly as it burns down?  I could be wrong.

  7. Correct, I tried it with 40% 4627 last night and this morning....HUGE dip, bad shrinkage even with a true one pour added.  I have not tried the 600 as it has more soy and heard it can be picky with scents that throw better in 6006.  Have you used the 600?  If so, which wicks do you like?

The reason I am avoiding 6006 at the moment is it seems to have sink hole problems, someone is ALWAYS asking for wick advice with it, and it looks to vary in appearance and hardness when I see photos posted from different candlemakers.

Need to test the 650 a bit more vs all paraffin for melts but I love the look for sure.

  8. I was asked for this scent as well.  I have heard many recommend my dear Watson from Natures Fragrance.  The description reads:

A fragrance filled with mystery and intrigue! Top notes of brightening bergamot open this handsome and enigmatic affair, as woody notes add supporting depth to the blend as a whole. Base notes of musk and rich leather complete this unique, aromatic masterpiece, creating quite the dignified and thought-provoking scent!

    Will try this out sometime.

  9. I put a little how to use on the label.  I figure if they do not have a warmer, then it is mostly for a sniff or they can gift it to someone who has one and that's another potential customer.  I've thought about the scented strips as well but I feel customers are more appreciative when the samples are things they can actually use and enjoy.  It doesnt have to be wax related, what about a car freshener or a mini roll on perfume?  Something not too hard to hit your profits but nice for samples.  You could also offer a free gift depending on order amount if you want to go that route vs free samples.  Just some great ways to get creative 😊

Unfortunately, it's the throw that does the first job of selling a candle. Which brings up a question I've been meaning to ask. How do we sell scented candles online when the customer has, at the most, only a vague idea of what it might smell like?

I think a great scent description and amazing photos do the trick for online.  Take for example when I am shopping for fragrances.  Some suppliers really know how to wheel me in to keep buying more oils for the simple fact that their descriptions make me excited and the photos take me into the scent somehow...hard to explain but those seem key, along with being very active on social media.  I'm finding alot of customers like behind the scene shots, unique scent blends, and giveaways.  Also free melt samples of the scents you offer helps for their future orders as something they never thought to order by description, smells amazing to them in person.

  11. Oh boy you put me on the spot to think here haha!  RE grandma's cupboard (since it has been said to resemble a oatmeal cookie) but to my nose it is a spicy bakery type vs a actual cookie, FM is good but my nose gets more fruit like the raisin and spice but not as warm/rich of a cookie, JS and candle source are good but again my nose picks up more spice.

@Fireside, you didn't miss anything.  I was so happy last week when I saw CW had all the waxes in stock that I wanted to try, so I ordered 129 and some others.  Brains for days.  3 repours and a heat gun and it still looks horrible.  Total waste of time and money.  I think it is ridiculous that they know this wax is off, and they continue to sell it.  I am over this company.  The other waxes may be great, but at this point, I'm not interested.

I'm there with ya, we only have so many manufacturers and suppliers so why not go with what you know?!

I'm currently using the 129 and I do prefer it over the 125 although the repours are a pain.....the 125 smelled too "paraffinish" to me and I didn't like the gummy consistency of it. Still haven't found the magic wick yet....I've only been testing it a couple weeks and just today decided to mix it 50/50 with gb464.....there's nothing like the cold throw of soy and maybe my wick options will open up a little....who knows?

How are you liking your custom parasoy blend or did you go back to straight 129?  Have you tried their 130 which is parasoy so you dont have to blend?
