  1. Has anyone ever received an email from someone soliciting your products to sell on a nationwide basis. I received an email today from someone who represents some retailers and they were interest in my candles? I have personally never heard of this company. Is this the type of email that you guys would respond to or just trash it. When I checked out the site there is a fee to have my stuff in their network??? I just think that is a little fishy. But, I would really hate so see a legitamate opportunity (sp, sorry long day, apparently forgot how to spell) slip through my hands.

    TIA

Actually, same thing happened to me. I just add a little milk and package them in window bags and call them bubbling milk bath. They are just like the bath bombs, just in a powdered form. So far all my tester have LOVED them.

    Good Luck

  3. This is a really good question and I hope that people will respong to it. My opinion is that people are attracted to the container first. I had the pumpkin jars at my last show and people immediately approach the table because of those and then started looking and sniffing everything else. I think that you should have something that is going to pull people to your table and then I think the smell will make them stay. Now saying this, I have had people just glance at my table while walking by and then they would come back and say that there was a smell that drew them back and would try to locate that scent.

    Good question

  4. How do you guys deal with your mate when they don't support you on a business? My husband does NOT want me to get my tax id# because he doesn't want our taxes to be screwed up. Plus the fact that he's not a risk taker.

My hubby was the same way, but now we are partners. Try and make him apart of the whole thing. Show him different "creations". Try and include him with testing and stuff like that. I told my husband it was his fault I started doing this anyways because he was the one that told me to get a hobby. Once he saw that people liked my stuff and where wanting to pay for it, his tune changed. Hopefully he will come around.

  5. my sister I think was mad because I was takin a pic with her in it plus you're right! she would get almost mad when we were slow. the table coverings were those thing plastic type coverings that only cost a $1 or $2. do you think another color would work or should I try to scrape some money together before the next show for something else?

Jennifer I would definately get different table cloths. Maybe check out your local Wally world and pick up some king size sheets. That is what I use for my tables. They go all the way to the floor and no one is the wiser, (or they don't say if they are).

  6. Ah, just get a couple of twin size flat sheets....they sometimes have a good sale on them...I got several red ones for $4.00 each. Then just adjust it on your table so the front is covered....You are going to sell so much stuff you will need easy acess to under your table LOL You can also just buy several yards of the $1.00 per yard fabric too....

Ditto this. I purchase sheets and thats what I use. You would never know and the go all the way to the floor.

  7. I think everything looks wonderful! You've done a really nice job with your set up, and as soon as you get some height in there, it will be perfect. I'd love to see a closer up pic of your candles, I love the ribbon with the company name idea, I bet they look really great "in person!" Nice job!

Prairieannie, here is a closer picture of the jars.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

  8. Everything looks great. I agree about the height issue. Hopefully next time you will remember the risers. ;)

Is it just me, or are there NO lables on your jar candles??

There are warning/care labels on the bottoms of the jars and then a ribbon wrapped around them with my company name and the top of the jar is a small scent label. I absolutely love these jars, but they are hard to label and this was the only way I could come up with and still get everything needed on them.

Yeah, I'll remember the risers next time, we'll just see what I forget instead. The last time I forgot the bags. So its always something. I have a checklist and think I have everything ready to load and seem to always forget everthing. I guess thats where the check your list twice thing comes in, huh? :rolleyes2

  9. Very nice...not cluttered. I agree with the height, but it looks good.

How did your loaf pans go?

and what is with the "pick a lolly and save"?

The loaf pans went over very well. Sold for $6 a loaf. Not bad, came home with 4 of them. The pick a lollipop and save was my husbands idea. We used a marker and colored the tips of the lollipops and put them in the lollipop stand. If the customer made a purchase of $5 or more, they got to pick a lolly and depending on the color they received anywhere from $1-$4 off or I had one lollipop that was not marked and they would get their purchase for free. Of course the majority of the discounts where $1. No one picked the free lolly, but it helped boost sales. I might continue to use this, I thought it was a really good idea.

  10. Looks good but could use more height. To much product at the same level.

You can use anything as a riser, paint cans, boxes, etc. then throw some fabric over it. Use a fabric that's not to sheer and not to stiff so it drapes nicely.

Yeah I had that planned out, but when I got there I realized I had forgotten them. Oh well maybe next time. Thanks

  11. Awesome! Glad you had a great day.

I have a friend who knows I make candles. I made a hurricane for his daughter with her puppy's picture in it and he asked where you would buy something like that. DUH! :rolleyes2

Georgia, isn't that an awesome feeling when people say stuff like that. I had a lady ask if that was the company that I worked for. And I told her, well, yeah, its my company. Great feeling.
