  1. Thanks for the responses! I agree about the Epson comment. I owned one previously and I was not happy with it. Candybee- do you happen to know what the name of the model is? Is it an Envy? Do you get good results when printing on glossy paper?
  2. Hi everyone! I am in the market for a good color printer. I would mostly be printing full color labels on glossy sticker paper. What printer do you like?
  3. Patty, Thank you for responding. Do you use their original wick?
  4. Clear Black, what were your results with the single wick?
  5. Hi! I'm thinking of venturing into the world of wood wicks. Can everyone share with me what their favorite ones are? BCN came up repeatedly in past posts, but unfortunately they don't offer them anymore.
  6. Thank you! These are all great suggestions but I like Ancient Musk!
  7. It's a candle and it's a little more musky and woodsy. For my candle line I like to use ingredients as names, like Cucumber Melon, Vanilla Lavender, etc. But I'm having a really hard time pin pointing particular scents when I smell it.
  8. It smells more like a sophisticated, old school, men's aftershave.
  9. I also like that name, but unfortunately it doesn't smell anything like tobacco or caramel
  10. To me, this scent doesn't smell like tobacco or caramel and I would like to rename it because it is a great scent. NG's description is, "oil by Natures Garden smells similar to Fresh's Tobacco Caramel fragrance. Tobacco caramel begins with top notes of mandarin orange and tarragon; middle notes include rose, honey, and osmanthus; base notes are caramel, amber, musk, and hints of patchouli." Any suggestions??
  11. Thanks for responding. Yes I meant .01 oz. I found two Taylor scales that are capable of this, but the reviews on them are iffy. I was just wondering if anyone does have a scale that they love that it is capable of these measurements.
  12. Do either of these scales weight in .01 oz increments? Everything that I found on the Aqua digi says .05 oz increments.
  13. I'm having a hard time finding an upgrade to my current scale, for a reasonable price. I want it to be able to measure in .01 oz increments. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  14. If I tried to save it, what would be the easiest way to remelt the wax that's in the jars? Put them in the oven?
  15. NG's Green Irish Tinsel Lavender Luxury Cracklin' Firewood Cucumber wasabi cilantro
  16. Thank you so much! I realized after I posted what I did wrong. For some reason instead of doing 8 oz x 3, I did .8 x 3 which equals 2.4. Ha, don't ask me why! It's been one of those days! What a waste of wax and FO!
  17. Oh wow. It's been a long day! I figured out what I did wrong.
  18. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong? Up until now, I have only made one candle at a time for testing purposes. To save time, I decided to make three tonight with different sized wicks . . . My jars hold 8 oz of wax and I wanted 10% fo. According to my math, that's 2.4 lbs of wax that I needed. I decided to add a little extra wax and I did 2.7 lbs, in turn, I did 2.7 oz of fo. This should have made a little over 3 candles. But I got almost 5! Did I read my scale wrong?! How could I be so off?
  19. Can you please tell me what your favorite, most accurate, digital scale is? I would like to be able to measure amounts such as 7.56 ounces. On my current scale, I would have to round up to 7.6 ounces, and for testing purposes, this does not suit my needs.
  20. Thank you for explaining it further talltayl. Just when I think I have something figured out, something makes me second guess myself. It's nice to know that I was not doing my initial math wrong, just different. This little hobby is sure turning into the never ending game of testing and tweaking!
  21. Oook. Now this is making a little more sense to me. So, according to this method, I do not believe I have been using 10% FO. I have been weighing out 16 oz of wax and then adding 1.6 oz of FO, making the total weight 17.6 oz. I'm going to have to try this new method and see if my results are different.
  22. Thank you for sharing. I've never done it this way. I'm not understanding why you would take the whole to figure out the percentage. I must be having a mental block. This is the equation I have always used as per candle science: (oz of wax using) x (% of fragrance oil you want to use) = (oz of fragrance oil needed) So in this case- 16 oz of wax x .086 = 1.34 oz of FO and not 1.5oz. Can you please help me understand what I am doing wrong? Thanks!
  23. Am I doing my math correctly? 1.5 oz of fo per lb of wax equals 9.4% fragrance oil? With that amount of fo I'm confident that my candles will still be strong
