Thanks for the response! Would you consider C3 to be 100% soy wax? I have been reading contradicting view points. Suppliers say it is, however on the manufacture site, it does not state this. Some people swear to pour at 165-170 for smooth tops with C3. I've been experimenting with it, but I haven't mastered it yet. My personal wax of choice is 415, but I hate waiting until it is slushy to pour, this is also the case with 402. I rather have a wax that is considered 100% soy wax versus a wax with additives. From what I've been reading it seems possible to pour hot with C3 and get good results, I was just wondering if there was another 100% soy wax where this is also possible.

I was wondering what pure soy wax, other than C3, are you able to pour hot, before the slushy stage?

Do you guys find that the wood wicks from NG and Lonestar are the same? They look identical in the pictures. Has anyone tried both of them to compare? Thanks!

I was wondering if anyone has used Fresh Breeze hand soap by Softsoap? I love the scent and I would like to find a FO that smells like it. Any suggestions?

Hey everyone! I've been testing my wood wicks and 444 wax produces black smoke, 464 burns too fast and hot, and I need a higher pour temp than 415 allows. This has brought me to mixing 50/50 415 and 464. The wooden wicks burn perfectly in this mix! However, I have not found the right pour temp when mixing these two. Does anyone else mix these two waxes?

Now I'm thinking I will just omit water entirely and use aloe Vera liquid in its place-- this way I might not have to use a preservative? I also read that emulsifiers like poly 80 deactivate optiphen. Is this true? What is witch hazels purpose in an application like this? Does it make the scent last longer?

Thank you for the responses. I would be making it to sell, so I'm unable to use vodka or everclear. I also heard that isopropyl alcohol is an irritant to the lungs. Is this true? I'm not against perfumers alcohol, I just really would like to use witch hazel. Currently, I use a base for my sprays, and I want to be a little more natural.

Hi everyone! I've been trying to come up with a good recipe for room/body spray, but other than my FO I would like to keep the ingredients natural, if possible. I've seen some ingredient lists from a few companies for their body sprays, and they mostly consist of water, witch hazel and FO. I've read that you are suppose to had a preservative if your products contain water, why are these companies not doing this? Is the witch hazel acting as a preservative? I've also read that distilled water is less likely to grow bacteria, mold, etc, however it's not impossible. I made a recipe with purified water and I added 15% witch hazel (14% alcohol), 8% FO, 8% polysorbate 80, and optiphen at 1%. The witch hazel was almost overpowering the FO and my mixture was milky. How much witch hazel should I be adding? Also should I use polysorbate 20 or vegetable glycerin instead of polysorbate 80? Does anyone have a natural recipe that doesn't need a preservative?

Is there an easy way to make 1 tube (.15oz) of lip balm with 3% flavor oil? Am I doing my math correctly? 3% of .15 oz equals .005 oz? I read that it’s easier to use the mL pipettes instead of weighing out the flavor oil. How would .005 oz be converted into mL? Would I just take .005 x 29.57 to get .15 ml? What specific brand of pipettes or other tools do you suggest using? I already have a .01 g scale. Do you suggest the double boiler method or the microwave in order to melt the base? Does the flavor oil need to be added to the base at a certain temp? How long should I stir the flavor oil into the base to make sure that it is incorporated? (I’ve only made candles before and I am basing my questions off of the candle making process.)

Thank you! For this particular FO I would like to start with 10%. Would I take 10% of the amount of carrier oil that I use to get how much fragrance oil to use? In the scenario that you posted above, it would be 10% of 7ml. Or, would I take 10% of the size of the container? In this case, 10% of 10ml? When I do candles I take 8% of the amount of wax I use. I have a container that can hold 8 oz of wax, so I take 8% of 8 oz to find out how much FO to add. Since this is going directly onto skin, I want to make sure that my math is correct!

Thank you for all of the above information. I was pouring candles and I fell absolutely in love with Nature's Garden Rosewood & Musk fragrance. On their site, it says that the maximum use for perfume is 5% but on the IFRA page, for category 4, it says 30%. Do you know why this would be so drastically different? Is curing really not necessary?

I've been researching how to make roll on perfume oil, and I'm a little confused. I am wanting to use FCO or jojoba oil, maybe a mixture of both, for my carrier oil. I also want to use fragrance oil and not EO. What percentage of carrier oil and what percentage of FO should I use? I've read various opinions on this and would love some clarification. Also, is there a cure time? I've read 1 week to 1 month. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! I did get it at Staples. There is a total of 6 cartridges in the machine. You can buy them separately for about $12.99 a piece or 5 of them, excluding the grey one, for about $71 that come in a combo pack. The combo pack also come with an XL black ink. The HP printer that I originally got was much more affordable as far as ink goes, but I much prefer the quality of this one. Also, Staples will price match their competitor's price and take 10% off of the difference of the printer. Best Buy has the white one for $129 right now.

Ok. So I just got another printer, after doing a little more research and talking with the guys at Staples, and the difference in photo quality is night and day! The photo is of my youngest and the one on the right is from the HP Envy, that I took back, and the photo on the left is from the Canon Pixma MG 7720. Fingers crossed that this printer continues to impress me I can't wait to get my new label paper and see what my labels look like! I really appreciate everyone's input!

Thanks again for all the input! I ended up purchasing an HP Envy 5660 printer, as my budget is around $150. After having it for a total of 45 minutes, I have made the decision to take it back! The quality is horrible when printing pictures (it even came with photo paper) and not great when printing a normal color document. Also it wasn't able to clear a document form it's print queue, after it printed it, and it keeps printing out the same document continuously. Too many issues already! Maybe I got a dud, but now I'm thinking of trying an HP deskjet. We shall see!
