  1. OK, Ive been to Millers site and a lot of question have been answered. Made a soap with olive and castor a few months a go and it turned out fine....this just makes me nervous..lol. Already checked on the soap at least 5 times in the last hour...Its pulling away from the sides and there is beads of oil on top.And its a lot firmer.*super banana* Maybe Im putting the cart before the horse? Im trying the Aloe next...maybe tomorrow................
  2. you would think that it would have more healing properties than water? Surely it made the soap a better soap.
  3. Warning: Warmers and Wax get hot.Remove labels.Use on heat resistant surface away from flammable materials.Do not move when wax is melted.Do not add water. Do not ingest. Keep minimum 1/2 in. wax in container.Keep away from children & pets.Never leave unattended.
  4. A preservative...or can you replace the water in your soap with this? Can you tell I dont have anything to do today............
  5. THank you Care Bear, yeah:embarasse ,I used food coloring.Just using what I have around here. But it shouldnt really affect the "soap" should it? Lord...... Michael was right..........
  6. I, just read that some of you use tap, so maybe it will be ok... Its so yellow.I guess the safflower.I used a few drops of green dye to put a swirl on it and its turning red.
  7. OK,:embarasse already screwed up........I used tap water . Had the distilled .Should have set it in from of me...:embarasse . Didnt realize that until I started whipping away.....Ive got it covered up now. Will take a peek later.
  8. picnic area ................ :laugh2: :laugh2:
  9. OOOOOOOOKKKKKKKK, here i go. Will post pics. I dont have a soap mold yet, so have to use whats on hand.
  10. So your saying the more superfat, the more conditioning and moristurizing? A good thing though, right? The first time I plugged those oils in it was at 5%. That wouldnt leave the soap too greasy or soft?
  11. ooooo I forgot, I have lard too! What is superfat suppose to do? So, what do you think I ought to do.Take out the crisico?
  12. I did, thats where you get the %s that I have in my first post. Sorry, just forgot to put ounces after the oils.
  13. a hard oil? lol , please dont laugh. Ive been trying to come up with a recipe for the oils I have at home.. Ive read http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3164 on how to do this. But she mentioned Palm, and I dont have that. I have the coconut and lard. Soft oils would be.....(can I use all of these?) castor, olive, safflower.Reading up on superfat. I plugged in this, but dont know if it will work. After reading for hours....Im confused..lol. Water - 6.99 Lye - 2.63 Safflower - 1.6 castor oil - 3.2 Coconut oil - 6.4 Crisico - 1.6 Olive oil - 3.2 superfat is at 5%..is there too much coconut oil? I used to make soap years ago.....but it wasnt this hard back then...lol. Im just feeling my age..lol.
  14. I noticed at wally world the other day aluminum pitchers in the mexican section of pots and pans for (lg) $7.??. Small and large.
  15. been there, done that...no,no and.......................no
  16. Ring of Fire, mineral oil is what your looking for, at the drug store. Wick&Wax, I used snowflake oil to make mottle pillars last year. They came out great. But I poured at 165-170.
  17. Thank you for the explanations. It makes sense. Especially a soap lover would like the botanical. It is pretty. I am the other market I guess. I wouldn't want all of that stuff ( not being disrespectful) on a soap I buy. So , every one has their own personal taste. If I get into making beautiful soap like you gals, I would do the same thing. The swirls are awesome. Thanks Robin and Meridith.
  18. Im just starting out in Bath and Body, gathering ingredients together from just my kitcen and store. I found some Citric Acid (USP-FCC Anhydrous) in the drug department of a store. Would that be ok to use in Bath Bombs? It says, USES: Beverages, confections, and phamaceuticals.
  19. Thats a good idea CareBear, never thought about useing them for that.
  20. God, where are the motivational people!!!!!!! I want to make soap, the ingredients are in the kitchen waiting for me........ but I just dont want to get up and make it.... :embarasse I made castile soap about 3 weeks ago, the first in about 6 years.LOL .It came out really well. When I look at all the beautiful soap you guys make , it makes me want to make some. Question....why do you put all that petals, oats, etc on them? Dont people have to scrape it off to wash with? I know its pretty.. Please, not being mean here..just really want to know.
  21. But..........if you use too much you can actually bind the scent. So dont think if a little will enhance the scent maybe a little more will make it better.
  22. If you leave the lid on while waiting for the wax to melt, wont that cause condensation (water) to form and drip into your ax?
  23. Thank you carefree for the suggestion, but I did that . There are lots of websites selling scent wax beads. But my question was how do they make the wax beads. A while back there was a discussion about Yankme or ? blew the wax into a barrell that was spinning and from cooling off and all the movement it produced beads. LOL, that was my take on it. I was wondering if anyone remembers how it was done or if they know a technical way it was made or even the discussion on it.
  24. Does anyone know how these are made?
  25. I was wondering why you are bothering even adding soy to paraffin?
