@wthomas57 Did you ever complete your testing of RRD wicks in 6006, if so what were the results?

Doesn't MMS have a jewelweed extract...

Great work!!!

That looks like default page from here domain registrar or web host "Sedo". It probably has nothing to actually do with the business.

@TallTayl do you need to let the wax cure before burning, like you would if it was scented?

You can melt and add to the pan in layers =) Just keep the wicks steady.
Good idea. Thank you. I have about 5 or 6 sample packs of wicks headed my way, now to get more wax. Testing never stops...

about 5.5-5.75 lbs of wax to fil within 1/4" of the top.
Thank you. Now I have to figure out how to melt that much wax and give this a try.

Are those cookie sheets or cake pans?

this will become a valuable resource as it continues to grow. I was also wondering if we could get measurements of the melt pools. I am curious how close they were to manufacturers specs.

How deep are those pans and how much wax does it take to fill them?

Testing out some new jars (11oz libbey heavy base tumbler). They are about 3.125" in diameter. I will be using a blend of 6006/464 (trying to get about 50/50 para/soy). Fragrance will be CS macintosh apple @6%. I want to test out zinc, wood, and RRD wicks. Can anyone help me with which size to start with for each type of wick. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also any other wick suggestions are welcome.
Thank You.

Why not just buy a couple and blend you own. So many of the blends have the same EO in them. You should check out the 12 pack deal at the sage.

Its a long learning process to produce quality candles. Hopefully one day I will get there. But for now its just test, test, test and then test some more. But I love it.

A good candlemaker tests the burn of the whole candle to understand how well their candle application is working and make adjustments from there. You only want to change the wick out from the first burn if it is obvious it is over or undersized. Example of undersized is flame is small or burns out. Oversized is the torch, heavy smoking, sooting, etc. If the flame looks good, scents well, and creates a good melt pool with minimum soot/smoke then I would continue with the testing the wick to the end of the candle.
Well said, I often get impatient and pre judge my candles before they have burned completely.

I also would love to know this recipe.

Been lurking and learning for a long time. So much great information here that has really helped as I learn the art of candle making.

What great advice I have been remelting mine and starting over. Gonna try this method next time.

Does the direct of heat from the presto pots (versus double boiler) have any negative effect on the wax?

I find using rubbing alcohol works best for me.
