  1. Anyone who makes these, have you been able to double wick them instead of triple wicking them? I have tried EVERY wick size known to man (double wicking) and either I end up with a flame thrower of a flame from the wicks or I end up with 1/2# of shell left. I have seen some places that state they are double wicked and some that state they are triple wicked. I am using 4045H mottle wax for these. I gave up on them once before, but am determined not to let these things beat me. Anyone have any suggestions? TIA Portia
  2. I always use my leftover votive wax for my tealights. I have used my container wax, but not for tealights to sell. Portia
  3. Ginger at www.flexiblemolds.com. FAST shipping and wonderful to deal with. Portia
  4. I have been using a mold for my smaller one's, and recently this week started trying to roll my own. Ended up ordering a mold for the size I want, if that tells ya anything. Rolling by hand, timing is EVERYTHING either way. After about 5 tries, I FINALLY rolled 2 nice looking one's. I would suggest getting a mold. HTH Portia
  5. Don't put it back and forth in the freezer. Let each layer cool at room temp before repouring. Your mold is freezing cold when you pour each layer and that's causing the lines and bubbles. HTH Portia
  6. When I dip my hurricanes and globes, I use a large stock pot that I leave my wax in until I get ready to do alot of dipping. It is large enough so that it leaves enough room for dipping larger candles and not run over. HTH Portia
  7. I use Joy for all my containers and love it. Since it has a large % of soy wax in it, you are not going to get the intense/vibriant colors you are getting with the J50. You will get a more "creamy" looking color with Joy. I don't have the soot problem with Joy, unless I'm using a wick that is too big or burn them in a major draft area. I've used Joy for about 5 years now and have tried other waxes and continue to stick with the Joy. I started out using J50 and hated the wetspots. I don't get these with the Joy. As far as your wax crackling, it sounds like you have some water in your wax to me. I would start by melting some of it, letting it cool completely and take it out of your melting pot and inspect it to see. That's the only time that I've had my wax crackle while melting. Sorry I couldn't help you more. Portia
  8. Someone did a co-op on these sometime ago, you might want to check back through the Co-op section to see where they were getting them. Also, if I'm not mistaken, Candles and Supplies has them. HTH Portia
  9. Those are too stinking cute! I might have to check into those. Wouldn't the plastic one's be really flemzie with the weight of 4 bombs? They are too cute. TIA Portia
  10. Thank you so much! Will give that a try. Portia
  11. Thank you all so much! Equal parts turned out exactly what I was wanting. Portia
  12. I have just started playing around with bath bombs and would love to be able to play around with different colors. How in the world do you make a multi colored bomb? I tried not coloring my powder mixture and adding color to my citric acid, but then once I added it to my mixture it all turned into one color. How do you achieve a multi colored bomb? I am only wanting to do white and then a little bit of color. TIA Portia
  13. Is it red & yellow mixed that make orange? I made some bath bombs that I wanted to be a peach color and added some orange food coloring and they turned out looking pink. TIA Portia
  14. Thanks so much! I will give it a shot tomorrow and see how it goes. Thanks,,,,Portia
  15. I am wanting to make some drizzle to pour over paraffin cakes. I will be using a mixture of gel and paraffin and whipping very little. I've only ever made the icing out of paraffin, so does anyone have a starting point as to what amount of each I should start testing with? I don't have but a few lbs of gel, so I don't have alot for screw ups,,,LOL TIA Portia
  16. Ok, I tried this for the first time today using pillar wax and FO. Poured onto waxed paper placed on a cookie sheet. Waited until it was still alittle warm and it turned out fine (for a first), but on my last round it cracked. I found that if I tried to roll earlier, the wax in the center of the pan was still too warm and squished out. What can I do to prevent the cracking? TIA Portia
  17. Lots n More: Yea, I saw that, but I am NC, 20 miles from the NC/TN line and the one that is putting on the co-op is in TX. Bad thing is, Nashville Wraps isn't but about 1 3/4 hrs away, but I can't see driving that far to p/u an order that isn't even $50 and plus I don't have time to. Guess I will just wait until I need more from them. Sucks sometimes,,,,,,LOL Portia
  18. Simply place your fingers (backs of your hands back to back sorta) on the insides of the shell and dip. Hope this makes sense. Put the backs of your hands back to back, stick them down in the top of the shell and press your fingers against the sides of the inside of the shell and dip. IMO, the overdipping was the hardest part to get right, because timing is EVERYTHING as to how your suface will turn out. If you pull out too slow, you get runs and a cottage chessy look. HTH Portia
  19. Thanks a bunch Candleman! I was just looking through their catalog last night and that didn't look to me like it would stay in place that good. I did wonder though if it would work or not. I need to place an order with them NOW, but not enough to meet the $50 min. I know I have seen somewhere else that sells the candy wrapper type stuff, but for the life of me can't remember where I've seen it. Guess I'll keep searching. Thanks,,,,Portia
  20. Check out Donita's tutorial on these, very informative. You need to release the water from the ballon, remove the ballon from the shell and then apply your decorations. Level the top, then do your overdipping. This is my routine, some may do it different. HTH Portia
  21. That is so awesome!!! You guys make me determined now to do some shows, never done one yet. This season, I am doing my going to shows and scoping out to see which one's I want to do and which not to mess with. Then next year, no more chickening out, I'm going for it with bells on. Just hope I can do 1/4 as good as what most of you have done. One of the shows that I am looking into doing next year is a 7 day show in a Major tourist town. Great Job!!! Portia
  22. I know exactly where you are talking about. I was born and raised just south of Raleigh, little town called "Fuquay". Moved to the mountains of NC 11 yrs ago and wouldn't move back to that hectic place for nothing. Nice to meet/talk to ya,,,,,,,Portia
  23. I get alot of mine at www.cozyhomecraftsupplies.com Actually waiting on an order of them from there now. HTH Portia
