  1. Thank you all so much for the compliments! I wish I didn't have anything to make but these, YES I have the patience and making these are SOOOOOO relaxing to me. I guess I should have been a wood carver or something, because I just get tangled up in doing something that is teddious (sp?) and time consuming. Now, just keep your fingers, toes and everything else crossed that this bad boy ships fine. Thanks again,,,,,,Portia
  2. Thank you all for the nice words. The cactus one didn't turn out as I had hoped it would, what was supposed to look like the sunset sky ended up too red looking for my liking. Though I've never seen a desert sunset I honestly wouldn't know what color to color it, but was shooting for a more orange/yellow than the red. I used mottle wax, Country Home fo, and a 27ply wick in that one. I'm testing it now and right after lighting it, I had a spill over, guess I need to drop down to a 24ply. My favorite is the Lighthouse one also. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get a palm tree and something else in there with the palm tree in another one, just haven't figured out what or what colors to do them in. Thanks a bunch to everyone! Portia
  3. This was a request as a 1st wedding anniversary gift from a friend of mine. I love making these. She requested a lilac color, so I'm hoping this will suit her needs. Portia
  4. Just experimenting with these, but they do look better in person. Portia
  5. Just know that for every tear you shed making that hurricane, the Fallen Hero is dropping that many miracles down on you. Those are awesome looking, I hate to say it because of the reason that you have to make them, but they do look great! Portia
  6. Sent you a PM, I have one particular male enhanced mold. Portia
  7. LOL,,,,,probably the same color I'm trying to figure out for a ocean water color that isn't blue, but seafoam looking. I would think either a pale blue or that darn seafoam color that I can't figure out,,,,,LOL Sorry I couldn't help any better,,,,,,Portia
  8. What I'm picturing in my mind is the lighest of light and it's kinda of a teal I guess, but I'm thinking with a touch of lime green to it. I know, it sound stupid, but I have this darn color stuck in my head as to what it should look like and can't for the life of me figure out how to go about achieving it.......When is cocktail time,,,,,,,,LOL Thanks,,,,,,,Portia
  9. I am working on making a large candle with a lighthouse and seagulls embedded into it. I was thinking of doing like the sky in a lighter blue and the water part in like a really light seafoam green and then either just a hint of ivory/tan or nearest to no color grey for the sand. How can I achieve the seafoam green color? Just a tad of green isn't the color I'm looking for and adding just a tad of blue to the green doesn't sound right either. I'm thinking out loud here I think. Any suggestions? TIA Portia
  10. I wish I could help you out, but I had the same problem with my 16oz Apothecary jars. (2) RRD 29's left alot of hangup, but the jar also got too hot,,,,,,,go figure. (2) RRD34's DEFINITELY got too hot and so I tried a 50, which left ALOT of hangup and a 55 smoked like crazy. I finally threw in the towel on wicking that jar using that wax. Plus, EVERY darn container candle I made with it, I would endup with a HUGE air pocket right after burning and so my wick would end up with about 1" burning. Sorry I couldn't help ya. This wax seems to have a mind of its own. Portia
  11. That is really awesome looking! Portia
  12. Thanks,,,,,,I will check them out......Portia
  13. Does anyone know of a site that you can purchase single long stem silk roses from? I'm not wanting the whole bush. TIA Portia
  14. I ALWAYS prime mine in the wax that I'm using before I add anything to it. I tried it once before w/o primming and I couldn't get the darn thing to light to save my life. So, I would strongly suggest it. HTH Portia
  15. This weekend I poured some roses in a plastic mold and had been having the same problem that you are having. So, what I did was found a shallow baking pan and ran some hot water in it and sat my mold in the hot water before I was ready to pour so that it would warm the mold just a bit. Just make sure that you don't put so much water in there that you will endup getting water in your mold when the wax weights it down. This worked alot better than pouring into a cold mold for me. Give it a try and see if it works. HTH Portia
  16. I purchased this mold and tried it out yesterday and boy let me tell you,,,,,,I need some SERIOUS help. How can something so simple looking turn out to be SOOOO complicated? If anyone has used this mold can you PLEASE PM me. I have a ton of questions. TIA Portia
  17. the site that I get the FO from shows a cup of coffee and a box of bagels sitting there. So I was wondering if it were a dessert type something or a coffee/drink something? TIA Portia
  18. Is Frangelico Streusel a coffee or is it a bagel, muffin, dessert something or another? TIA Portia
  19. I was FINALLY able to get into Peaks and look at what color they suggest for their Lilac fragrance and they suggest a LIGHT purple OR orchid color and I went into another site and for their fragrance they suggested medium to dark,,,,,,,,sooooooooooo,,,,,,,I'm just going to toss up a color and go with it and hope she likes it. Thanks so much for the suggestions though! Portia
  20. Is the color lilac darker or lighter than lavender? I'm pouring roses per a lilac color request and I have NO earthly idea which shade they should be. TIA Portia
  21. I finally found a site that shows you what is printed on them. Thanks,,,,,Portia
  22. I am trying to make some hangtags to go on my tubes of 12 tealights and I'm wanting to put the warning on the backs of the tags. Does anyone have any idea what the warning is that is used on tealights? TIA Portia
  23. I will try the 24ply and see how that goes then. I thought though since the 45ply wasn't giving me a large enough MP that wicking down definitely wouldn't. I'll test it and see though. Thanks,,,,,,Portia
  24. I have this mold and I'm using 1343 wax. The first one I use a 45ply wick, but after about an hour burning the wick puts off soot with the least little draft and it's burning through the center roughly 2" diameter. Just curious as to what wick seems to work best with this mold? TIA Portia
