I have been making candles for about 15 years now but have never used dye. Thinking of trying a couple ideas I have. Would anyone share their experience with dye? Is liquid dye better? Are all dyes pretty much the same? Thanks so much for any help!

This is exactly why I bought the kits from WW Co. and paid like $25 for the candle kits because I thought buying from WW Co...one would think they would have figured out what wick to use but that definitely wasn’t the case. Something just can’t be right because no one would want to buy the candles I made from WW Co! I bought 4 kits and none of them would stay lit. They just sucked. They don’t tell you anything about having to prime them. I mean they must work for some people cause seems a lot of people like wood wicks. 🤷‍♀️

Does anyone know if EZ Soy wax is the exact same wax as GB 415? We got a very large account and I’m wondering if I could buy it by the pallet? Do wax suppliers sell directly to us or do we have to buy from BCN, Candlescience..etc? Thanks so much for any help!

Thanks so much for your help! I’ve always waited 2 weeks before testing so I had no clue if I burned earlier that could be my issue. The scent throw is amazing! I could smell it within 15 minutes in our living room which is a very large room. I’ll give them some longer time to cure and try again. Thank you so much!! I super appreciate you!

Wondering if anyone could give me their thoughts on this? I am having troubles with tunneling that I’ve never had before with my candles. The scent is Cinnamon Sugared Doughnuts type. I use a CD 12 wick in a 16 oz mason jar, soy wax (GB 415) I’ve tried doing 1.2 oz, 1 oz, .75oz of oil it’s all still tunneling and the flame at 1.2 oz was super weak like it was clogging the wick so I went down to 1 oz. At 1 oz- the flame was not as weak and still had great scent throw but still tunneling. At .75, strong scent throw, still not as weak of a flame but it still is tunneling. I’ve tried wicking up to a CD 14 and it’s doing the same thing (but slightly better). I’m burning 1-2 days after making because I need to get it figured out (large account and not a ton of time). Could this be affecting why it’s tunneling. I’ve never used AFI oil before. I’ve been making candles for since 2005 so it’s not that I’m just starting. When I first started I did test with HTP wicks and ECO but found that CD’S worked best for me. Any thoughts or suggestions would be super appreciated.

For those that color your wax could you recommend a good supplier to try? Are all dyes created equally? Thanks so much!

Oh my gosh! YES!! I was told the same thing about checking the flashpoint so I knew when to add fragrance and I thought..is she joking? Then I remember thinking ok does she really believe this? Then I thought maybe I’m the one cracking up lol! I thought surely they must know a ton about wood wicks, ya know? The Wood Wick Co is after all their name! My beautiful wood wick candles are s***! I was irritated though to say the least. $100 for 4 candles that won’t even light. 🤨😤

Thanks so much for the pointers! Could you recommend a supplier for wood wicks please? Trying to decide if this is something I want to start testing or not. I’d like to buy one to see if it is worth all the testing or not. They must be way better than what I made!!

Wondering if I could ask ya all’s thoughts on something. I use RTV High Temperature Silicone to keep my wicks in place. It works amazing but I’m trying to speed up my wicking process. I let it dry overnight after wicking. Has anyone tried using the High Temperature Tape for wicking? I’ve tried the wick tabs but a couple times my moved and so I switched to the Slicone. Any thoughts? Thanks so much! I super appreciate ya all so much!

I have always wanted to try out wooden wicks. I’ve never ordered from here before till now. I bought 2 kits from them which I really had a hard time cause it was $100 for 4 candles but I thought that since it’s in a kit they sell I shouldn’t have to worry about which wick and wax etc. to buy. I have been making candles for 15 years now but have zero experience with wooden wicks. They are horrible! They won’t stay lit. I’ve had to relight constantly. I’ve only tried 2 of the 4 I made. After lighting over and over one will stay lit for a while but just barely. The other one is tunneling and worse than the first one. There definitely isn’t any crackle. Any thought or suggestions would be super appreciated. Is there something I may have done wrong? Thanks so much for any help!

I think I have a bottle or two. I stocked up on some before they closed. I’ll look next time I go out to my studio. Maybe we can have it duped.
