  1. I ordered them on Monday and had them on Wednesday. My nose isn't all that great but I will give a review as best as I can. Orange and Gogi Berry - is very nice out of bottle. You can smell both the berries and the orange which is not overpowering the berry scent. It will make a very nice citrus scent. I don't know what a Gogi Berry is but it smells somewhat like an elderberry or blackberry if I had to gander a guess. I can tell you that I don't think that this would give a fuel smell when burning because the scents seem to mesh well together. Citron and Mandarin - this I'm not so sure about. I smell the mandarin but the citron is there for sure. It almost smells like cleaning supplies to me. It will be interesting to see if it mellows in the wax. I'll be honest I prefer the orange and gogi berry out of the bottle. :lipsrseal Island Coconut - came labeled as Pineapple coconut. You can smell the pineapple for sure and the coconut. Makes me think Tropical Island..... Right about now after this winter, I think this could be a big seller. LOL The pineapple in this fragrance reminds me of Maui Mt. Pineapple from Candle Cacoon (I think that's spelled right) and I didn't care for it, but the coconut I think will mellow the pineapple down once it is in the wax. These are just my opinions. These are out of bottle reviews. Who knows I may have a new favorite once I get these in some wax. I also ordered: Sex on the Beach Passionfruit and Guava Strawberry Shortcake Cranberry Marmalade Caramel Popcorn - it will be interesting to see if this stacks up against AH/RE version. Have a good day everyone.
  2. Candle Science has added three new scents to their line. Orange and Goji Berry Pineapple Coconut Citron and Mandarin I can't wait to slap these babies in some wax. I am super excited and was hoping for some more citrus scents for summer. I will let you all know how they test in soy wax.
  3. I have ordered from there. I purchased a candle making kit. I purchased the soy one that came with the EcoSoya Xcel and eco wicks. It could have just been that combination but I didn't have much throw with the 3 scents that I purchased. I have spoken with them over the phone before I purchased this kit and they were super nice. The scents that I purchased were: Black Raspberry Vanilla and Cinnaberries. Good luck if you purchase from them. The shipping was fairly quick.
  4. I would have to say that my favorite scents are the following: Grapefruit and Mangosteen from CS Birthday Cake from KY or RE/AH now Lemon Pound Cake from KY or RE/AH now Black Raspberry Vanilla from Peak My all time favorite was Honey Coco Mango from Bittercreek North which has been discontinued. I could never make another candle and just burn and sell this if they would bring it back. Another one I really liked was Lemon Bundt Cake from Bittercreek North that was part of the closeout line. I really enjoyed that one as well. :-)
  5. YIKES! Just looked at their website and saw that they did change their sample policy. Very disappointed. :-( Unless I need a KY scent I probably will not be ordering from there. However, there are a few KY scents that I absolutely adore and don't know that I could part with. Otherwise, I would ditch them as a supplier. I am sorry for everyone that has had a difficult experience there. However, I am surely glad that we have this board to help our fellow candle makers.
  6. I know that this scent has been reviewed several times but here's my take on it. I used 415 wax, 1 oz per lb, 8 oz jj, cd 12 wick, cured for a month or so because I forgot about it. First burn - not a full complete melt pool which is just fine by me on a first burn. :-) After four hours, the scent completely filled my bedroom and adjoining bathroom and was drifting into my dining room. It was not an overwhelming or sickening smell. It was a pleasing aroma without that "bitter/alcohol note" in which I really don't like in a vanilla/buttercream. I prefer smooth and creamy if that makes sense. For those of you that prefer knock you over strong, this scent may not be for you, or you may want to add more scent to your "mixture". I am still on the fence about whether to continue my search or be satisfied with "ok".
  7. I have found that what sells for one person in one part of the country ---another person in another part couldn't give it away. People in DE like simple scents....Like baked apple pie, cinnamon, lilac, etc. Complex scents and sometimes "blends" really don't impress them. However, a friend of mine lives in MN and she said that her customers love the complex scents and overlook the "simpler" scents. Go figure. I have been on a buttercream/vanilla kick for some reason; which is odd because I really don't care for those type scents usually. However, I will say that you should probably carry just a few in every variety until you get a "feel" of what your clientele expect. Good luck and keep us posted. :-)
  8. I use a lot of their KY oils, but I have had quite a few duds from their RE/AH line. I truly out of a lot of testing haven't found one that I just "gotta have" from outside of the KY line. :-/ Maybe I am a little too picky, I dunno, but some of their oils just don't give me the warm/fuzzy feeling. I don't think that Vickey is their tech support anymore either, which is certainly not an asset to them as well in my book. I have talked to Mel a few times but I guess I got in the "KY rut" and don't see myself digging out of it anytime soon. LOL Now that we got the negative out of the way, LOL, I really do appreciate their free samples that they provide including the candy. :-) It puts a smile on my face everytime. I believe they are one of the few companies that provide 2 free samples which does provide me with that "wow" factor. :-)
  9. I made a Maui Mt. Pineapple candle once from Candle Cacoon and it smelled so bad in the heated wax I threw it right outside without even testing it or actually pouring it in the jar. Also, the Cucumber Melon was not my favorite either. I have not tested any more. :undecided I do have a sample in of the Vanilla Voodoo that everyone raves about. I have had a terrible time finding a good vanilla without that "alcohol" smell.
  10. As embarrassing as it may seem, I have a sample of this. Despite the rave reviews, I have never slapped it in wax. I think I may do that today to see what the fuss is all about. However, Ravens, I know in soy wax I have to let my candles cure for 2 weeks. There are some that'll blow my doors down after a two day cure---not too many though. I like mine to get a nice strong cure and then I decide from there. I have never worked with paraffin so I didn't know if you tested it after the 2 day mark. I like my scents to blow my doors down, too. However, here lately, for some weird reason anything too awfully strong gives me the most dreadful migraine. Ravens, I have heard good reviews about Bluegrass' buttercream. They are now owned by Elements. I have never tried that either but I plan to get a sample and see how it goes as well. Have a wonderful day. It is freezing here in Delaware. :-(
  11. After taking a hiatus from candlemaking partly due to my own laziness and partly due to issues with my grandfather's rental business, I am setting a goal for myself to get back into candlemaking. Previously I used EZSoy and I have dabbled in C3 and KYSoy 125. I have tested EcoSoya Xcel and 464 and even 444. I think I am just going to be "Plain Jane" and stick with 415. I am looking to have at least 10 good and strong scents by Spring. I am starting over from scratch and re-testing everything from wax to wicks and scent and dye. However, I do know that I want to include the following scents: I am not a huge fan of florals or clean smells. I like fruits/and some food scents without being overly sweet. 1. KY - Fresh Lilacs was one of the best that I have ever tested. 2. KY - Lemon Pound Cake - yummy!! 3. Peak - Black Raspberry Vanilla - the best that I have tried. 4. CS - Mac Apple 5. BCN - Very Vanilla - my favorite but open to options 6. KY - Birthday Cake - Oh my word! My fav. Looking for a good Hot Apple Pie, and other suggestions. I will be re-testing my wicks and color as well. I like the dye chips but I like the liquid, too, but I make such a mess with it. I will be re-testing wicks as well. I like the cd 12 in a jelly jar but I also like the cotton 51-32-18. I did not have good luck with eco wicks. :undecided Your help would be much appreciated for new scent suggestions.
