  1. Soja here.... It's been a while, I've been playing with my new printer. Today I'll show you 3 sets I did. The Good, I used large mis-shapen chunks. A good combo I think. The Bad. Some black candles for my Son who says Black candles absorb negativity and 'burn' it. The Ugly, To me it looks like something with a disease! Fungus or something. Winner of the Fugly contest! Soja
  2. Pic one... I made some clear and red, large, misshaped chunks. Over poured with light, sky blue and heat gunned the *&&^%^^ out of it! One of my favorites! The small was an experiment with small chunks heat gunned the same way. Didn't work. Pic two... Red & Black chunk. Speaks for itself. Shorter one, Coffee and light green layer. You will notice only the first pour (the top) has mottling. The green layers had Vybar in them and the little bit that mixed completely killed the rest of the mottle. Pic three... Experiments in mottling. I cannot find the right mix of Sterine and F.O. to get a consistant mottling without being overpowering (like the red and green ones) I either get all mottling or a little thats NOT consistant. (Like the blue one) What I am after is something like the top of the short one in pic two. A little bit but all over, not just in one spot. Does anyone have any suggestions? (Or am I asking for too much?) IGI 1343, poured at 190 in warm mold and let cool slowly. Peaks F.O. Thanks for looking. Soja
  3. So far no one has mentioned re-cycled baggies. My Wife gives me the freezer baggies/ large zip bags, etc. that would normally be thrown away and not used for food any more. A quick rinse and they can be used to store the leftover wax from a pour, after it's hardened in a recycled aluminimum pie tin. You can write on the outside of the bag with a magic marker as to what scent/additive, etc. Also... Your Wallyworld 69 cent Stanley knives used for Everything! Keep the ideas coming! Soja
  4. Thank you all for responding. You have cleared it up for me so it's TEST and test again! Soja
  5. I thought stearic was supposed to supress mottling? What I get is either NO mottling or ALL mottling. I am after a small amount of mottling. Something like TopOfMurryHill's post of a while ago where you had a deep red with just a little (but deep and gorgeous) mottling. You said you were testing wax formulas. I have put that amount of stearic in my other mottles, some of which I have put on the gallery. It always comes out too much or not at all but it NEVER bled like this one.:undecided I will post some pictures tomorrow. Thank you all for responding. See Ya tomorrow. Soja
  6. IGI 1343 Heated to around 200. Poured at about 190. Heatgunned to get smooth surface.
  7. I made a test candle with 2 drops of Magenta, 1 tsp per pound of sterene, one oz per pound of scent. I was going for controlled mottle and I got a big mess. There was a PUDDLE of magenta colored oil on top of the candle this morning! When I took the candle out of the mold, there was a puddle in the bottom of the mold too! The candle was DRIPPING with oil! After wiping off the candle, it seems ok but I won't know till I burn it. WHAT HAPPENED????? Soja
  8. I made these by pouring wax into a cookie sheet, waiting for it to almost harden, then scooping into a mold, heat gunned the big one but NOT the small one. The yellow is a mistake, I dropped some diluted yellow dye into it just to see what it would do. Scent is Christmas Pine. Still not the marble I'm hoping for. Soja
  9. Beautiful job. I'm gonna try it your way. Thanks. Soja
  10. Cool... Can you let us know how you did them??? Soja
  11. Beautiful candle... Beautiful idea.... We all send our good thoughts. Soja & Linda
  12. Thank you all for your more than generious comments. As I said, I get my inspiration from the artists that put their pics here for all to see. Besides... I'm having FUN making these candles! I doubt if I'll ever sell one, just give them away. My Wife gave the purple square to her physical therapist. Soja
  13. Here is the latest in my quest to make candles to satisfy Linda. She wanted purple... She got purple. I think I'm on to the right formula for getting striking mottle. See Square. Scented Black Canyon, also on orders from Linda. Any comments welcome. Soja
  14. Here is my latest layered rustic. Thank you for all your comments, ideas, etc. Donita, Kandle Kitty, and all the rest that have answered my sometimes dumb questions and really helped me get going again. The gallery has also had infinite inspiration from the great pics sent by great artists. LOVE looking at the pics! Thanks again.... Soja & Linda
  15. I used to use translucent crystals 20+ years ago but do not see them anywhere on the supplies pages. BUT I see them in the craft stores. Using translucent wax in the first place (IGI 1343) is it really necessary or have they 'gone out of favor'? (My thought since I do not see them on Peaks, Candle Science, etc.) Any comments please???? Soja
  16. Nice combination of colors... It really works. Soja
  17. Scented.... No steric and oil plus F.O. I thought for mottling. Is that too much? I did, however, figure out the rustic end of it as seen in the attached pics. The crackle, I just did to see if I could do it. The crackle doesn't show up too much though. Wookie... Thanks for the compliment. Soja
  18. I've been having trouble getting just the right 'rustic' look. I've been asking around and here is the latest.... 1343 poured cold with freezia scent and mineral oil for mottle. Any comments? Soja
  19. Dont' forget the tips from Donita and Candle Kitty (and the rest) about tapping the mold right after the pour to release bubbles. I use a wodden spoon and the heat gun. Tap Tap... Heat Gun.... Tap Tap..., etc.
