I absolutely can not tolerated florals. They all make my headache worse. I have a chronic daily headache due to a medical condition. That said: I've learned to live with it so at times I'm not really focused on the pounding head. But if I test a floral Scent....even just 15 minutes in my wax melt warmer...I'm cooked. There's one and only one acception to the rule, but I can't technically call it a floral the way I reviewed, say, a Better Homes & Gardens (Walmart) "Daffodils & Daisies."  The worst scent note is patchouli. Headache and 🤢 both at once! The only exception to that, and I mean only, is Bridgewater Candle Co's. "Sweet Grace." To die for, as is their ""Afternoon Retreat." But I'd be way to afraid to spend money on a bottle of FO with the Bridgewater scent notes....I disagree with them LOL!!!

I'm right there with you! I do like chocolate orchid from NG and there are a couple more that I've found that I actually like but I'm still not drawn to them at all. When I melt wax or burn a candle I want something bakery or spicy, and sometimes even a minty smell. I do like things like Bayberry and Flaming has one called bayberry and silver oak that I love and I never would've thought that one would appeal to me. Trappeur told me about that one and she always had such good taste and she sent me a candle in it and I fell in love with the scent.

  3. Like others said, you're going to find good and bad oils from all the suppliers and it depends on your preference. I don't care for birthday cake from Aztec or Lone Star so I wouldn't tell anyone to try their birthday cake even though a lot of people love it. I love the one from Fragrance Buddy or Rustic Escentuals or Peak (now sold at Keystone). It really depends on what you're looking for and your own personal preference in a scent.

I would check out Fragrance Buddy, Aztec, Lone Star, Flaming, Candle Science and many  more. They all have oils that are great and unique to them.

I just went to Keystone Candle Supply - Peak's Banana Nut Bread is only being sold in  35 lb qty! Any other supplier carrying their Banana Nut Bread?

Have you tried the one from CS or Cajun? I think they smell pretty good myself. I may have some of Peak's and I'll try to remember to do a sniff test.

Hey, Belinda.  I'm never too far away.  I sometimes pop in just to read, and "meet" the new faces, missing some of the old ones who have either moved on to other things in life, or who have moved on to a spiritual life 😔

It always feels so good to be here; it's like visiting with good ol' friends - and you certainly are one, Belinda!

I feel the same way about you! I'm so happy you're back!

Have any of you ever made scoopable wax before?

If so, what kind of wax & oil are you supposed to use and at what ratios

I"ve been told that 6006 makes a good scoopable. I've not tried it myself though.

I only get mine from Fillmore (once my supplier retired and I figured out they were cheaper in bulk).  No funky odors at all, quite durable, and I've rarely had leaks/holes.  Maple Street has the best deal on the small square tart molds (I use those for samples), but for full clam shells I found that Fillmore has the most cost effective choice without compromising on quality.  I don't know how far it is to ship for you - I'm in NE - but boy, the shipping from other suppliers is outrageous!  Fillmore seems like a steal by comparison.  One thing to beware of though, if you order them by the case the boxes they ship in are kinda flimsy.  I had one start to split open when the UPS guy dropped it off.

I'm getting old! I found a post I made a couple of years ago and I have tried clams from Fillmore! I had completely forgotten about that. LOL!

Thank you! I've been comparing the cost to the ones from Fillmore and Maple Street. I've been buying mine from MS for a few years and they do have a great price on theirs but the shipping is more than from Fillmore. I'm in Texas and I was quite surprised that the ones from Fillmore could ship to me cheaper than from MS. I think I'll give the ones from Fillmore a try then. I worry about a funky odor because years back I ordered some from Cajun and all I could smell was plastic.

I received my order yesterday. It is similar but just not as good as the Candlewic one. I got a few others to try like Pistachio Macaroon, Stropwaffel, Apple Butter Carmel and Their signature scent plus a few more. Will put them all in wax this weekend.

Mine came in yesterday and I agree, not the same. I've never smelled another one from any supplier like the one from CW. I got a few of their other oils too and liked what I got but need to put them in wax this weekend if I get a chance.

Thanks Belinda, but I'll just wait on my backorder. At least my family and I have Leaves candles to burn.  :)

Gee, I don't like floral scents either.  I hope you get to use FO's you actually like once in a while.

I do sell a lot of Honeysuckle, Lily of the Valley and Lilac, so I have customers who like florals too.  One asked about a Rose candle.  I got a sample from Aztec and I think one from CS once, but I just don't know if I could stand to make Rose candles.

Rose gives me a headache! I did find a really pretty rose scent I think from JS. I want to say it was rose vanilla and it really smelled so good. I will probably add it this coming spring. Or it might have been rose milk from RE. I'll have to pull my samples out and sniff before I order.

Well I'm glad I found this thread albeit 2 years too late LOL. I have been buying like crazy since May...just about when COVID-19 showed up and ruined any and all normalcy.

The craziest thing is that the very first (and only) scent I considered looking for a FO of (I don't make anything; purely a consumer off wax melts, 99% reial/1% vendor. I recently posted that I got very, very sick just as COVID hit (I have Lupus and a few other Auto Immune (AI) conditions. The stress from the pending onslaught of COVID sent my AIs, mainly the Lupus, reeling into a flare-up like never beore. My sense of smell, tolerability of certain scent notes, etc....went amuck. So, I set out to find one oil: a dupe for BBW "Sweater Weather" and would you believe that it lead to a FO-shopping addiction....all from "Just Scent"...EXCEPT FOR THEIR SWEATER WEATHER!!! To my Lupus-twisted nose, it smells nothing like the BBW candles. I now know that they BBW has a line of SW-scented body products and it's totally different from the candles so perhaps that's why I can't even tolerate the SW I bought from Just Scent...and unfortunately it was my first purchase and I went for the 16 ouncer!!! The only BBW Sweater Weather dupe I find to be spot on and a scent monster as well is the one from FragranceBuddy. That said: I have a few samples I bought from FB when I splurged on the pound of SW, and I still peruse their site....daily.

So what do I love from Just Scent: almost everything I've tried!!! There were/are a few duds, and because of the Lupus I should add that I use a lot of the FO's to "Amp up" the 1000 or so clamshells of retail-bought wax melts that I own! It's been a ton of fun making my own blends and loving almost all of them. I'm only in this since May but I highly recommend the Just Scent (so far):

Shampure Aveda (5 Stars on Scent and 5 Stars on the throw/intensity!... so I call it a 5/5)
    Peppermint Bark (5/5)
    GRINCH-MAS CRUNCH
    Satsuma (5/5)
    Clementine & Mint Leaves
    Bonfire
    Polar Express (5/5)
    Christmas Lane (5/5)
    CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT
    APPLE BUTTER–Nana’s Old Fashioned (5/5)
CINNAMON AND SPICE (Explosion) OMG OMG OMG 5/5 !!
    POISON APPLE
    Aveda Rosemary Mint (5/5)
    Bye Bye Summer

Currently (darnit!) Bonfire is backordered, so I tried Marshmallows by the Fireside and it's like the BBW scents (I can't recall the names) that are smoky but have that sweet, sticky burn note which is clearly the marshmallow note. I can't tolerate the marshmallow note now (Lupus-nose!) but I used to adore it.

I'll post again later in the week as I have more to list but I can't grab them all right now. I'll list which were "meh" and which threw bettter than others...but were still great!

    CHARGE!!!!!!!!!

So I ordered some of their Autumn leaves to try along with a whole bunch of other scents that I do not need. I will let you all know if it is the same. This particular scent is so good and it is not like any of the other Autumn Leaves fragrances I have found. It is very much like the fresh pine sap you get on your fingers when cutting your own tree.

    Karen in MA

I went ahead and placed an order with them too and got some of their autumn leaves to see if it's the same as CW's to have a back up!

I ordered over the weekend when it came back in stock, two pounds. I received an email yesterday they were not able to fill my order as it was out of stock even though the web site had it available. I am unsure how much longer this wholesale customer will wait, ugh.

    Karen in MA

Karen. it looks like Southern Scentsations has one called autumn leaves and the description sounds similar to the one from CW. I've never used that one from them but I have used some of their oils in the past and liked what I got from them. Maybe you could get a sample and see if it's the same.

I love that scent too. Do you only sell it during the Fall? To me it has a Christmas smell to it too but I wouldn't know what to call it.

Isn't there another supplier that sells that one? I was thinking I saw it at one of the other sites. Let me  look and see.

What's wrong with your customers!??  :)  I ordered more from Aztec; got my order today and Leaves is backordered.  :(

I wish I knew what was wrong with them LOL! They're Texans so they like leather and cowboy/ masculine scents, YUK!!!! I'm a Texan too but I have better taste LOL! Seriously, some of them like bakery though but a lot of people say those type make them hungry. I 've never noticed that being the case myself. A lot like florals too which I don't care for at all.

I have some Leaves I think if you need me to send some to you.

I wish I could help but it's Greek to me! Sorry!!

I did get a big order from a vendor I buy from regularly and I see many more bubble holes/pitting...and all the colors are at least twice as deep/dark as ever before. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. I need to get back to her but I've been M.I.A. for a few weeks...sick again. UGH!!!

So very sorry you're sick. Prayers for a quick recovery.

I don't think the color would have anything to do with the bubbles. I have noticed when I pour too cool I get bubbles too.

What vendor is it? I understand if you don't want to mention names. I still order from vendors on occasion to compare waxes. Do they use all paraffin or a para/soy combo?

What am I doing wrong? I don’t see any pictures on any posts! Thanks.

In my experience, this wax and all of the granulated tart waxes have dimples. Some are pouring cooler and getting smoother tops though. I usually ad some more paraffin to it to make it mostly paraffin and to smooth it out. My favorite right now is 4786 to add. It's a container wax but it's hard.
