Hey guys, I went to CandleWic.. I don't see "white" liquid EVO dye listed just cream and Ivory...Is one of these the one you're referring to..Or you definitely mean "white" and they are just out?...

A few girls were ohhing and ahhing over a dipped bear I'd brought in, asking me how I'd done it ect... I tried to give a general explination.. And one girl says, " so, I could just melt my yankee candle and dip one" No matter how I tried to explain/educate they were not getting it..I finally gave up and said > no, I melt my wax from scratch and then I "triple scent" them.... Finally a light bulb went off and she was like > " ohhhh, so how much are they?" lol....So the phrase did come in handy even though I cringed using it...lol

ahh ty horsescents, I was wondering if there were some sort of dye... I'm off to look up evo dye >>

"..I have a kitchen table full of bears/presto pot etc...An art table full of varying stages of lotion/lip balm/ body butter...A stack of notes printed from this board falling off my desk and tarts in every warmer ...I'm having a blast but I'll now keep in mind what you said about burn out lol. Jeanie, Soy is another thing I've been wanting to do some tests with..Ever since I read that it gives bakery FO's a richness.. I swear, sleep is a complete waste of time lol (nonchalauntly jotting down justas fave FO on my to try list)

Hi guys, I have a few questions if anyone can help.. I've been dipping some bears for gifts.. People are seeing them and asking to buy( also asking for diff kinds of animals)..I've been getting my bears from BCN..But they are taking awhile to ship and only have bears.. Thought I'd go to first&main so I did a quick research on the board and someone said you had to have a tax ID# and minimum order. I'm not even sure how to go about the tax ID thing and the post I read that in was from 2005 lol... And millcreeks variety is pretty limited..Any supplier suggestions would be appreciated. And yes, I like the white bears the best too, dang it! lol..I've been trying to compile a list of FO's that work without discoloring...So far I have Mac apple, Christmas tree, baby powder, fresh linen, lavender and buttercream..If anyone knows of any others, please share.. I've been pouring one uncolored tart for each scent I open.. To see if they change colors but thats gonna take awhile for results... I'll eventually post that results list with a very specific title for easy research... Ya know, reading past post I've seen many of you say you hate dipping bears(time consuming etc..) I didn't quite comprehend why, theyre so cute and a great idea..Well, I dipped 4 bears last night.. Each bear diff- Lilac, cranberry marmalade,clean cotton/downey10% and lastly misletoe.. The mistletoe did me in (insert green face here) lol..And I was wearing a surgical face mask..I had to stop there so I still have a rose and a mac apple to do today... I have a new respect for the pics of 20 dipped bears lined up that Ive seen posted on the board..(Bowing to all the bear dippers)lol

I also just got my 3022 ( which I said I wasnt going to get lol) So I'll jump on the band wagon of testing soon and post back..

I did, I had/am having a blast ( lil smile)...Testing throw and longevity of throw today... Se2653- ty for the recomendation..DS=daystar right?... and yes that darn yank buttercream is what I'm after lol....I'm trying to figure out if there is a difference in the tart/throw with skin safe FO's compared to a candle FO..Since there is such a huge difference in my fnwl(candle) fo as opposed to my CS ( skin safe FO) or if I just somehow wasnt supposed to mix the two or I somehow poured too hot...Or maybe the 9% FO load was just too high..But it deff smells like paraffin. Annnyone ever made tarts with the same fragrance but diff catagories??? Did you notice any difference in strength etc... This sucks...so many suppliers i need to order from lol... DS/fnwl for the butter cream...Peaks for some sample waxes and lilac for a dipped bear for my fav client/per request and some blck canyon....CS for more pumpkin souflee ( which is gonna be my tester FO for the diff waxes) ... Oh and lets not forget bittercreek for carrier oils,dryflo,aroma beads and more bears.......eeeeesh! Why oh why cant they put all this stuff in one place lol! And thank you all sooo much for the goo gone tip... All the red dye came completely off/my skin, at least= I wont scare my clients now lol

To late to edit..but wanted to change something...It was candybee and prarieanies recipies that I played with..Thank you both (smile) And while I'm at it... Anyone that is successful with buttercream tarts could make a guess as to why the FO dissipated/had an odd smell while mixing it in?.... I thought bakery scents were to be added around 180 withy /\ mizing...Is buttercream not considered a bakery scent?

Candybee, prarieannie...Thank you both for your generous recipies... I decided to combine them both....I liked candys idea that you shouldnt have to add extra soap to your base but, I also loved all the additives annie put in hers lool... I tried to to go down the middle.. but, a lass it wasnt sudsy enough and a little too drying..In hopes of saving my first ever batch.. I remelted, added a touch of emu oil and a lil Dr bonners.. I now really like it! Now I have a good understanding of what to do next time For the person that was asking about veg glycerine... You can get that at like hobby lobby, in the cake decorating Isle..its in about a 2 oz bottle with "Wilton" written on the front...It doesnt say "veg" but trust me..I researched the heck out of it once..It's cool to use

Trying to find a scent that might peak my hubbys interest for soaps etc....So far Ive gotten Perfect man, dragons blood and black type for men- NG... Hinoki from MMS..Nathaniel from Daystar- yum...oakmoss and tobacco carmel from wsp...Granted they've all been smelled OOB..But he's turned his nose up at everyone of them.... He's worn Lagerfeld for yrs.. We both loves this fragrance!...I don't want a dupe of it but does anyone know of an FO that is in that range? If you understand what I'm saying.. I plan on ordering black canyon and blue sugar next...Thanks for any suggestions guys (smile)

Lip Balm - used the BCN base with mango, 5 tubes...Then did a second batch using spearmint/dash of peppermint+ some of my fav lipstick to tint it..really like it but am still dying to make it from scratch... M&P soap- goatsmilk base from BCN.. Found a couple of recipies for some additives from candybee and I thiiiink Jeanie ( sorry if im wrong)..I kind of did a combination of both ..Scented with black rasberry vanilla-yum(peaks)..Wasn't real happy with how it suds and it was a little drying after use..Remelted and added a tsp of emu oil and some Dr. Bonners.. Muuch better. Tonight I tackled tarts..Hubbys fav candle is buttercream..Figured I best start there to win him over to this new hobby lol...(I had ordered buttercream from fnwl (for candles) before I found this site- I love the smell of it...since then I've ordered 4oz from CS (for B&- not near as rich to me- so I mixed them half n half) 8 oz batch--wax was 50/50 4630 and 4625..FO I did at 9% ( i know I'll want it strong) I'd heard you should add bakery FO's at 180 and stir for 2-2 1/2 mins to incorperate... As soon as I started stiring I knew it just didn't smell right.. I cant describe it but, it wasnt buttercream lol Next was pumpkin souflee(CS) love this FO. Eventhough, I've read that the scent doesnt last long in melts...I used the same wax combo... but FO was at 8% and added at 170-175 still stiring for 2-2 1/2 mins...Added tip of toothpic of red + tip ot toothpick of yellow+ 1 drop of brown, perfect pumpkin color and the smell was fabulous!..Hope they both throw well I was all pattin myself on the back..Feelin all accomplished n chit..Smiling as I cleaned up my mess...................And then it happened, even though i'd read the warnings....I hadnt screwed the lid on my red dye :: hangin head::.. Tripped and red dye went flying...all inside my FO cabinet, my area rug ( thank gawd its old), my pants, shirt, socks, all over my hands all the way up to my elbows rofl ... And with all the crap I've bought, do ya think I bought goo-gone..nooooo rofl...The more I scrubbed the bigger the red got lol...Off to find goo gone tomorrow bear dipping next wk = with NO red dye!

ugh, I'm so jealous lol...I've combed over the threads about 3022..I really want to try it...Finally typed in the right combo of words to google/ get clarus to come up...There is a place to ask for a sample ( although, Ive read that some don't get the samples unless they email)..But, you can't click on anything on the site to order any of the products... Unless I got a faux site, I don't get it lol Anybody got a link to a site you can order from or a phone #/email to get a hold of Melanie? Love em And yes BCN does sell the 7.5 bears...Some listed as short haired and a few as long haired..I ordered a few of each so I know which I'll like..And the cutest lil pair of bear glasses. Ugh, I just couldnt resist..Been looking everywhere for bear Sun-glasses..I want to give him a mohawk, maybe an earring, lil biker boots lmao Oh..oh I could dye the tips of his mohawk red n blue!... and...and......lol

Hi Dolphin, umm, I've never made a candle in my life but, I've been reading on here alot lol...I can't tell you what caused your bumpy tops but, from what I've read many have said they use a heat gun to smooth out candle tops..

I've been comparing what suppliers have what and at what price ect for days...Since I wanted to try a little bit of everything this took some time..I narrowed it down to candlescience and peaks for FOs and and all things wax...Bittercreek won out for B&B samples/supplies...By the time I was done $$$$$!! I had to make the hard decision of getting the BCN bears instead of the higher quality first and main...As well as putting off getting that highly coveted presto pot. The bears were kind of important because I work part time in an assisted living styling salon...I think they would go over pretty good..And I planned on giving out 5-6 bears to a few residents/ office people etc to "test for me" = expose my bears lol...Anyone used the BCN bears?.. Are they terribly cheap looking/feeling to someone that doesnt know the difference? Do they hold scent reasonably well? Anyway, I was out running around with my gf today and told her to stop by goodwill so I could get some pans etc for my wax... And smack my face and call me sally! I came across a 7.00$ Presto pot! That kind of stuff never happens to me lol..So check a few goodwills, newbies..Ya never know

Heya Bliss, those are adorable... And I'm right behind you..I'm waiting on my bears to arrive right now for my first time dipping lol.... I did a little checking around and Millscreek has 14x24" cello bags listed for their 7.5 bears and 10x16" bags for their 6" bears.... I ended up ordering somewhere else (that didn't have bags) but the bag size listed at millscreek came in handy.... If you find them somewhere else..I would love to know.

Gotcha, I cut and pasted everything you said for future reference ( I now have a tablet of c/p lol)..And candlemaking is definitely way more complicated then the average person will ever know, but very facinating..

Chefmom, really nice explination on the vybar/steric acid use, thank you...I had no clue what the steric acid was used for... I knew vybar was for fragrance retention but, from what I gather there are different kinds of vybar? How do you know which one to use? And I would imagine knowing whether you need it or not would come from knowing your type of wax and being experienced in knowing good HT, CT I love learning new stuff..........whatta rush! lol
