JanetsCandles
Can anyone tell me what is the difference between tapioca starch and modified tapioca starch? I'm seeing Dry Flo on BB's site and it's supposed to be modified tapioca starch. So, of course, I'm looking to see if I can find it locally, and I come across tapioca starch that is used in cooking. And the mad scientist that I am is contemplating using it in a body whip. But it would be my luck that it'll make just a huge and expensive mess, so I'm asking if they are interchangeable and what is the difference? TallTayl
They're not the same. Regular tapioca starch is a much heavier, denser product than modified. The consistency or regular tapioca starch is similar to kaolin clay. Dry Flow is very puffy (1 lb requires a 12x12 box!). Dry Flo and it's generic cousin lock fragrance well and disperse into water easily. It's great for preventing clumping in bath salts and holding fragrance in bath bombs and such. JanetsCandles
Thanks for the info! ON the plus side, I will have motivation to get a couple scents from them at the same time
