Can you make salt bars without using the oven

I've been searching and searching and cannot find anything. I want to make salt bars, but every tutoral and recipe I find says to put it in a warm oven. Is that the only way to make salt bars or can I make them without the oven and I am just not finding a tutorial for it.

I've never had to gel in the oven. it gets pretty hot all by itself once the salt is added. If you're not sure, a blanket may help give peace of mind. I have to cut within about 4 hours of pouring into the mold.

I never put mine in the oven, they get nice a toasty all by themselves. I also cut within a few hours after molding, wait much longer than that and they are almost impossible to cut!

I don't put mine in the oven either, just throw a towel over them. But as everyone else said make sure you cut them in about 4 hours otherwise thet are too hard and crumble.

I have never used any heat, they start gelling right away and get unmolded asap.. I don't know why the tuts would say that.

Thanks guys... it is now on my to do list to try. HOpefully later this month. Need to make sure I'm around and able to cut it so it doesn't get too hard :-)
