soapgirl10
Has anyone made liquid soap in a small batch?
TallTayl
How small? I've gone with 16 oz of oils with no problem.
soycrazy
I usually do 16 oz too, but I heard you can store the paste in the fridge until you need it to dilute.
soapgirl10
Great!! 16oz sounds good to me! May I ask if anyone does this with double boiler/stove or crock pot? Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated:yay:
soycrazy
I do mine in the crockpot, but I've seen it done in the oven too or double boiler. If you don't have catherine failor's book on liquid soap you must get it. Lots of good info in there
TallTayl
crock pot here too. Sometimes I'll get it starting to gel, then just insulate it overnight in a closed oven wrapped in blankets. It's ready to dilute or store by morning.

MamaVSoap
I make my paste in 6# batches (in the crock pot) and then double bag it in 16 oz portions. I keep those in the soap fridge and dilute as needed.
soapgirl10
Thanks for all the tips. Just one more question. Can this liquid soap be scented after all completed, as the pre-made bases are? In case I am not asking that question right..........if I made 1 gallon total of unscented liquid soap and wanted to make so many bottles of one scent and then another scent? Does that make any sense?:rolleyes2

Some fragrances and EO's may affect the clarity or thickness/thinness of the dilution though. You'll need to experiment with your collection to see how well it plays with your LS.
