Your thoughts on when to add fo

Recommended Posts

I have read so many varying threads and everyone I could find thru search on what temperature to add Fo to the wax: some say higher around 180 will give you better HT and others say lower around 160 will...

I use 464 with nothing else added except FO and have been heating to 175 and adding FO at 160 then pouring at 140- I'm not totally sure why I started questioning myself on this but am curious as to what temp others are adding FO

Everything is working out for me as far as looks and burn but I am now wondering if adding FO higher will give me a "stronger" HT- I use 8% FO and have tested two of the same fragrances adding higher and lower but am having a hard time telling if there is a difference...

If you could just respond that you add higher (above 160) or lower (under 160) as I am just curious to see the how divided this is and if it really does have a effect or just a matter of preference

Thanks:cheesy2:

I use 464 and heat to 175, measure into pour pot and add 7-7.5% FO immediately (anything more than that gives me seepage in a lot of my scents).

I stir and set on a step stool in front of my fan to help cool quicker. I don't know what temp I pour at, I just feel the pour pot and when it is feeling like I could pick it up and hold it barehanded easily then I pour.

For my GG palm container candles I add FO at 200-210 as I pour as soon as the FO is blended and want to keep the wax at 195-205 when I pour.

For my parasoy I add FO at 185. Don't do soy much anymore but used to use CB135 and added FO at 180-185. Paraffin J223 or J50 at 185-190.
