younggrasshper
my soap doesn't have a soapy bite or zip to it.......did I do something wrong? Does it mean I'm not using enough lye? I check my recipes with like 3 or 4 of the calculators online before starting so I don't know what I'm not doing right?
Candle Man
If you touch the soap to your toung and you get a tingle/zap that means it is lye heavy and needs to cure longer. If you get no zap then it is ready for use and sale.
Jeana
I don't think you want it to zap. If it bubbles and doesn't dry out your skin it is fine.
sad72
exactly...the zap means it still has lye present...no zap means it's soap.

SatinDucky
If you get no zap then it is ready for use and sale.Personally, I disagree with this. No zap does mean the lye has saponified, however it still need time to cure.
